Useless. Complete waste of money, It mucked up my phone settings and I had great difficulty and additional cost to restore them.

Used this e-sim for my 3 week trip in October of this year and couldn't rate it highly enough. From atop a small mountain in the countryside of North Japan to the underground levels of a Japanese train station, I never lost coverage anywhere. It is a little bit pricier than some other e-sim providers but it's well worth the price in my opinion. Having done extensive research on what e-sim provider to choose I saw reviews of many people using other providers losing coverage constantly or the connection simply not working. I got the 20gb plan and had barely used half of it by the end of my stay in Japan. From using Google maps to navigate to the Disney app in TDR, everything worked seamlessly and never had any issues with any apps or websites not working.
Would definitely use again for a future trip and would recommend to anyone. Thank you Chris and team for creating such an amazing product.

I set up the E-SIM before even going to japan, i just had to turn it on my Iphone when i arrived at Haneda and worked wonderfully during my 7 days on Tokyo.

I walked and used the subway all over tokyo constantly and never lost the signal or felt like i had any throttle on the speed.

Extremely easy and reliable. I was very nervous about my trip to Japan and how dependant I would be on my phone for managing funds, navigating the country and accessing tickets for the Shinkansen. I was able to get the journey Japan e-sim working quickly and easily as soon as I landed. The speed was great and no matter where I was (even mountains in the middle of the country) I always had a good connection. I was happy with the price and didn't need the 20gbs I purchased for the trip.

Very grateful I choose this e-sim as my partner choose to use a Sim card and roaming which ended up barely working and we were completely reliant on my connection.

It's a good product and gives you so much less to worry about. I'll definitely keep using this Sim on return trips as I'm confident I'll have what I need wherever I go.

Spent a month in Japan, and this esim was amazing. It was super easy to install into my Galaxy S25 plus. We went every where, Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Hiroshima, and even Okunoshima, which is where I was worried the eSIM would fail. Nope, it stayed steady the whole time and I never lost connection. I did the unlimited plan, which was new at the time of purchase, and I'm glad I did, because my jerk phone decided to update and use up precious data right at the beginning of the trip. Unlimited also meant I could keep my family back home constantly updated and video call with them with no worries about my data running dry.
A salute to you and your product, Chris and team! I'll be using it again on my next Japan trip!

Worked great from Tokyo to Aomori and while driving through the mountains of Fukushima. The only places it faltered at all were in long mountain tunnels and Shibuya during prime time but it still worked well enough to get us around even in those tough spots.

Easy to install, I was able to immediately connect upon arrival in Hokkaido which was essential as I to use my translation app to sort out a mix up with transport from the airport to hotel in Sapporo. Outstanding coverage over the 3 weeks I travelled throughout the countryside travelling from Sapporo down to Kyoto. Good value for money.

We travelled from Tokyo down to Kagoshima, including staying in some pretty out of the way locations and hiking through mountains. This sim meant we always had signal and for MUCH less than our UK mobile supplier wanted to charge!

My only small gripe is that I couldn’t tether off my phone while using it, whereas I got the impression when buying that I would be able to.

Otherwise, fantastic service — we’ll definitely use this eSIM next time we come to Japan!

I purchased this for my 2 week trip and it was amazing! I did run out of data and had to purchase more but the price is reasonable. The service is very reliable and fast.

Setting up the esim was very simple. The instructions and explanations in the email were very clear and easy to follow and about all, the connection is really great. Im gonna be three months in Japan and this is my second month buying this esim.

As I waited in the airport before my flight to Japan, I remembered I needed to buy an e-sim! I always trusted the Abroad in Japan youtube channel to provide great info about Japan but will their products be as good? Well, the answer is YES! I purchased the e-sim, followed the instructions, and when I arrived in Japan, everything worked perfectly. I was able to use Google Maps, message people, check email and internet... simply put, everything worked perfectly. Thanks Chris!

The setup was very easy and we were connected as soon as we arrived in Japan, which we really appreciated. However, we were quite disappointed with the coverage as we continued traveling. There were several times when we had no signal at all, and most of the time the connection was very weak.

We are currently in Nagasaki and will be heading to Tokyo today, so hopefully the coverage will be better there. Overall, the convenience of installation was great, but the network performance so far has not met our expectations.

A solid service from start to finish for myself though while my Dad, who also used the eSIM, was able to enjoy its usage we had a few technical difficulties when first activating it in Japan due to how the QR code automatically setup the eSIM on his Google phone. The problem was a quick easy fix however and it felt like we were able to use our phones exactly how we would back in the UK. Would highly recommend using this service and have no doubts that any issues that may occur will hopefully be resolved quickly by the staff.

I've watched Abroad in Japan for a while now, and when we made our trip to Japan this May, it was easy for me to choose Journey Japan eSIM because of that. The company made good on Chris' promise of a reliable service, with a good signal and fast internet speeds. We had absolutely zero trouble getting the eSIM set up, using it, and we're completely satisfied with the purchase.

I saw another review and I had the same thoughts: mostly 4G while I was in Tokyo and a bit more more pricey than other providers but I went with Journey Japan eSim anyway. Coverage great most of the time. A few times coverage stopped but I got back on/refreshed after a few seconds. Had not issues in subway or using google maps while walking.

Ordered 3 e-sims for myself and my kids. Just scanned the QR codes at the airport in Australia before leaving and then switched them on when landing in Narita. They worked awesome and had great coverage. Definitely recommend.

I have been traveling from Aomori to Osaka, and I’m really impressed with the speed and availability of the service. I’m glad I saw your promotion before coming to Japan; otherwise, I would have been worried about the service especially since this is my first time here and I’ve had bad experiences in other countries. Thank you genuinely for providing such great service at a reasonable price.

Edit: Now that I’m at the end of my trip, I’d like to share some additional insight. I changed my rating from 5 to 4 after experiencing some slowness in parts of Tokyo. As others have mentioned, you will only get LTE, so don’t expect consistently high speeds. That said, for the most part I was still able to watch videos, use social media, and stay connected without major issues—even in rural areas of Aomori and Kawaguchiko.

Easy to setup with included instructions, worked without errors. Priced well, speeds were as expected for mobile data. Would absolutely use it again when I'm in Japan next.
