VERY poor communication. Logs are good!

I have now ordered twice from this company. The first time a 1 tonne crate of logs, the second a 500kg crate. On both occasions the orders were placed by ‘phone and I requested the delivery be made on a Wednesday as either my husband or son would be home to assist in moving the logs. On both occasions I was assured the delivery would take place on a Wednesday.
The first delivery of 1 tonne arrived without notice on a (rainy) Tuesday! I eventually contacted Rachel Taylor (Sales Manager) after leaving repeated messages for her to call back when available, but never did. Rachel apologised assured me it wouldn’t happen again and as a gesture of goodwill, gave a 10% discount.
Not confident regarding the second order of 500kg I rang Harrisons on the Tuesday before the delivery was due… to be told the delivery was not being made until the Thursday!
I queried why when I had specifically requested Wednesday, explained the previous issue I had had and explained that I was unable to move 500kg logs unassisted, to be told by the receptionist my postcode only ever received deliveries on either a Tuesday or Thursday!
I asked to speak to Rachel regarding this, to be told she was busy and would call me back. I called again 3 days later, to be advised she was off. I managed to speak to her the following week and received another apology, but was told that the driver who had delivered my logs had…
“ very kindly stacked them all for me in my garage…”
I pointed out that what had actually occurred was the loose logs in the back of the tipper truck, which had fallen out when the crate had been damaged during loading (numbering around 15-20) he had stacked IN FRONT of the garage, not “very kindly” but because this enabled him to then simply tip the crate from the back of the truck onto the drive… and leave!
A promise from Rachel to investigate this, as it was clearly at odds with the account the driver had given and that she would be back in touch with me, once she had more information. That was on 28th March… I followed up with a email to Rachel on 4th April and have yet to receive a reply.
I’m also waiting for an explanation as to why Rachel wasn’t able to advise me in our very first conversation that deliveries were never made to my postcode on Wednesdays… nor the person who took my telephone order on both the first and second occasion.
The quality of their logs is good, however the ordering system and communication is shocking.

Very reliable and efficient

Been using this company for a few years and have just made an order again today. Usual very efficient service, and they'll deliver in two days time - incidenatlly to a CH postcode. What can you say? This company sells coal and logs; the prices are sensible; they deliver without fuss; and the people on the phone are always helpful, cheery and polite.

That's got to be 5 stars

Not to be trusted

We had a delivery back in Feb 2024 and were well pleased with the goods and service.......Jump ahead to 1 December 2024 and Harrisons have decided that despite us being in their catchment area that they will not deliver an order which meets their conditions as stated on their web page.
I ordered £132 worth of coal(9 bags) which is well within the stated 'free' delivery postcode limits on Harrison web page. I received an email saying they don't deliver to my post code yet their web page clearly lists a number of 'CH' postcodes and mine is slap bang in the middle....and they had delivered before.
A phone call to Harrison revealed that the 'coal manager' has decided he will not deliver to my post code for anything under a 1 ton order??? Where on their web page does it state this limit? IT DOESN'T Annoyed about this...too damn right. Avoid this company as they advertise but 'don't deliver' unless it suits the 'coal manager'.
