Motorhome
I cannot thank the manager of JC Leisure enough. The company is very polite and do not put you under obligation or pressure to buy. They appreciate that buying a motorhome is a big expense and try their best to keep you well informed. Thankyou very much.

Following my previous negative review…
Following my previous negative review after spending £70000 on a motorhome that took 2 1/2 months to fix from faults evident on handover.
I asked the reply from JC to be corrected as it was incorrect and lies.
I have never sworn at anyone in this company although my husband said the organisation is "expletive " rubbish. The response also gave an email for Charlie if I had any concerns re the reply. I emailed and true to form no response over a week later.
I have also asked trustpilot to review this company as some of the positive reviews are repetitive and very dubious. If you're thinking of buying from this company please be careful and read all the reviews particularly from people who have actually purchased.

JC Leisure went out of their way to be…
JC Leisure went out of their way to be helpful when we were looking for storage for a new campervan. Rye was rather far for us but as local sites were full I paid for one month at JC before taking delivery of the van. Then a local site advised they had a place so I cancelled, and without any quibble JC agreed a refund. Really helpful and a very friendly service.

EXCELLENT SERVICE
I purchased my motorhome from JC Leisure just before Christmas, i was delighted with my service of how well informed i was kept and the attention to detail of my needs. i have had my new motorhome for nearly a month and have loved it, the sales team gave me all the info and help i needed and the work shop helped me with a few teething problems that I'm aware any new motorhome has i will definitely be back

Had two of their RV's over Christmas and they were excellent. Staff there were really helpful (especially Benjamin) and the whole process was easy. Both vehicles delivered on time, spick and span and then picked up exactly when organised. Thanks to all at JC Leisure.

Stinking new van and appalling service
I put a deposit on a Fiat Ducato Motor Caravan in the middle of October 2020. Due to high demand I was told I could expect delivery around March 2021. The Van arrived at jc leisure on 19th March 2021 and I was told that the paperwork had been sent to DVLA that day. A couple of weeks later I received a phone call asking me to collect the vehicle on 15th April. On checking the DVLA website I could see that the van had not been registered. I told them that I would not collect until DVLA had registered it and was showing on their website as such. The reply was 'it's ok, you can collect, the paperwork has gone in' I refused to collect and drive an unregistered vehicle. I then had to wait until 7th June to collect, DVLA insist that it only takes 6 - 8 weeks for this (due to Covid) but my registration took 11 weeks? On 7th June we went to collect, Paul the salesman, was off sick so someone from the workshop was to do the handover..he showed us some of the inside (but not the various knobs and switches for gas, water etc.) and then took us outside to show us how to fill water and change the toilet cassette, that's when things got very upsetting ... as he opened the cassette compartment door and pulled out the cassette we were hit with an appalling stench of stale urine. We were ushered back into the showroom whilst he took the van away to be 'cleaned'. When it came back this person put some diesel in the tank, assured us everything was ok and we had to leave. Two weeks later and the van still smells of urine. It appears that while sitting in their compound, any 'Tom, Dick or Harry' was allowed into the van, unsupervised. One of these people had urinated into the toilet without opening the flap into the cassette, then over the next few weeks it had gradually seeped through. I am disgusted that this was allowed to happen, I paid for a new van, it feels more like a second-hand one. We also found there was no LPG in the tank, although we were assured that it was filled. I wrote letters of complaint to the directors which have been ignored. If asked I would tell anyone wanting a motorhome to shop somewhere else, certainly not at jcleisure.
Fantastic Service
Picked up our new Carthago last week & they couldn't have been more helpful. From the first enquiry to the handover everything was dealt with very professionally, John & Paul were fantastic & I wouldn't hesitate to recommend JC to anyone. 10/10
Good Motorhome rental experience from JC Leisure.
We rented a motor home from JC Leisure in Rye through McRent.
We were very pleased with the whole experience. The motorhome was less than 6 months old, well equipped, clean and comfortable, with all extras included. The staff were helpful and friendly, making the whole rental process easy. We would definitely use them again.
SOLD A POTENTIAL DEATH TRAP
SOLD A POTENTIAL DEATH TRAP
We bought our Autotrail Chieftain on the 23rd July 2019 from:
J C LEISURE
HARBOUR ROAD
RYE
TN31 7TE
We were assured that all checks had been carried out and the vehicle was perfectly road worthy with a check list to support this. The fact of the matter is the vehicle could have killed us! The Chieftain had remote control steadies that on two occasions deployed spontaneously whilst driving (drivers side front and drivers side rear). This happened once as I pulled off my drive and once on a main road. Both times fortunately I was driving slowly; the motorhome came to a grinding halt and was blocking the road, until I was able to force the steady back manually into the raised position. The remote control did not work, if I had been driving on a motorway at 70mph and this happened it could have turned the vehicle over and being 4500kg it would have been catastrophic. I have since had the steadies removed.
This was the worst incident from a catalogue of errors from J C Leisure.
We waited two weeks before we could collect the vehicle because of the so say “extensive checks” that were being carried out:
• The full two day valet (which was not done)
• Service and MOT
• Habitation (which was not done)
• Additionally we asked for a solar panel to fitted (which was not done)
On the day of collection we had to drive 160 miles and were assured by Paul that even though we were arriving after 5pm it was normal practice and he would often be there till 7pm carrying out a full hand over. On our way at 4.30pm we were phoned by a member of the sales team saying that they would be closing at 5pm and no one would be there for the hand over, Paul had taken the day off! After many phone calls it was agreed someone would meet us there. When we arrived we discovered
• The solar panel had not been fitted.(which I found out when I climbed the ladder to look on the roof, otherwise we would have driven off assuming it was there)
• The valet had not been carried out.
• The vehicle was filthy inside and out.
• The carpets were stain and bleached from the sun.
• The rugs left in the garage were stinking of urine.
• The reversing camera didn’t work.
• Only one ignition key and I was assured there was two full sets.
In my opinion the checks and tests had not been carried out
On our first outing the motorhome flooded as the water pump was faulty, we have since had that replaced. On top of that the wiring to the hot water heater had been stripped out and we have had to have that replaced.
This is conclusive that the test hadn’t been carried out otherwise these faults would have been discovered.
Paul told us that there would be a full demonstration of all habitation equipment on collection, but there was no water on board and no gas bottle attached so this was not done we were just given a brief explanation.
We had to leave the motorhome for a further day at J C Leisure for the solar panel to be fitted, the reversing camera to be fixed and the valet to be done. Fortunately we had friends nearby where we were able to stay, we ask for the vehicle to be delivered to us there due to the inconvenience.
It arrived late the following day solar panel fitted, camera fixed but still filthy and stinking as before, the valet had not been carried out, by this time we had paid in full!
We have tried to communicate with the sales team on many occasions to get some answers regarding the long list of issues, the most serious being the steadies, they were all including the directors unapologetic and dismissive. We believe we should have been offered some compensation. We paid £25,000 for this vehicle and should have received better customer service and after sales support. We are still finding faults and working through them the most recent being another leek in the shower and a seized valve in the external shower point.
Paul really spun us a yarn telling us that the Chieftain had only had one previous very careful owner and that it had been very well looked after with many upgrades added. When infact we are the 8th owner! He blatantly lied.
In our opinion J C Leisure is an unscrupulous, ruthless company and we would advise anyone considering buying a motorhome or caravan to look elsewhere.
This was supposed to be a dream come true, and we have invested a huge amount of money, this has been trivialised and tarnished by Paul and the rest of the J C Leisure team. SHAME ON YOU ALL
Terrible
Terrible. Fridge don't work, belts were never fitted so battery was ruined. Had all this fixed with a proper garage. There should be 5 springs there are 1, so awful drive. Boiler does not work, take k leaks. The list goes on. Notice you can't leave a review on their site and if they let you they censor them. Wish I had never met these people. Stay clear, once you pay they don't care.
