First the positives.

First the positives.

Jazzwise is a visually superb publication.
Each edition looks great.
Excellent photographs, layout etc.

There are some very knowledgeable reviewers, who know their jazz.

However, the entire magazine is filtered through a predictably tedious socialist view of the world. I stopped reading due to the endless references to Trump, Tories, Brexit, Climate Crisis etc. You get the
picture.

The magazine primarily consists of interviews with musicians, album reviews and live reviews. There is very little of the incisive writing which was a feature of Wire Magazine, edited by the late Richard Cook, back in the 80's and 90's.

A pity.
Not everybody who likes jazz is a Stalinist.

Unreliable, biased and exploitative

Unreliable, biased and makes money by exploiting and bullying great young artists. Would not recommend this act of colonialism that relies on reviews written by failed musicians. No wonder their readership has dwindled over the years. This magazine should not even exist.
