Fabulous team...Franklin, Tn office

I am a longstanding client of Mark Willoughbey, who travels a 'long extra mile' for a job well done. His services are 'beyond excellent.' Today (4/6/2026), I telephoned the office with intricate inquiries, and Tanner (employee) was also super helpful. He researched my request thoroughly, and Tanner was a smart individual and professional. Nice guy and a new and top-grade contact! Mark runs a fabulous and longstanding investment firm and is a real legend with supreme expertise and impressive employees. Susan Harber

I have had my retirement accounts at…

I have had my retirement accounts at Janey for several years. I cannot even get anyone to call me back or help me with my accounts. I didn’t even know an account could be negative. Warning if you have an alternative I would not work with Janney.

Thomas Urban and his brokers are incompetent

Thomas Urban and his brokers are incompetent. Wouldn't return my phone calls. Then I figured out why. They just ignored my account for two years and let more than 90% of my $400,000 just sit in cash while the market was on fire for 3 years. Then he thought he could Bully me into his lousy excuses. How can people still continue to do business with this company when their reviews are so bad?

Janney Fiduciary Statement is False

This is Janney's Fiduciary statement - entitled "Our Fiduciary Duty";
"The fiduciary standard is a legal requirement that Janney and its Financial Advisors are bound by when offering advisory services - to always act in your best interest with respect to the investment advice and services we provide. It requires a commitment to always put your interests ahead of ours and provide full and fair disclosure of all material facts relating to our advisory relationship, including conflicts of interest."

Their mission statement:
"At Janney, our mission is to be the highest standard of success in financial relationships. Because of this commitment, our unparalleled client service and culture of innovation, we enjoy long-term strength and stability and enduring client relationships".

Their slogan: "Putting clients first is the way we do business".

Let me introduce Pearl Lee (married name: Gitter, but now a black widow), she is a financial advisor with Janney Montgomery Scott in Philadelphia for 16+ years. In the 4 years I had my 2 small retirement accounts at Janney under her management, this woman defrauded it and was able to walk away unscathed. No punishment, no violations, no apologies.

It was evident she churned my account, she made 100+ trades in 4 years.
In many of the transactions, she bought high and sold low.
She bought me mutual funds and sold them in less than 6 months.
She executed trades in my account without my knowledge, completely illegal.
My account total when I fired Pearl was significantly less than when I first opened my account at Janney.
It was clear Pearl Lee did not have my best interest and completely went against her own company's Fiduciary statement, mission statement and slogan. Her actions in my retirement portfolio were indefensible and far from fiduciary.

Well, Janney defended her and defended her actions knowing fully well that she defrauded my accounts.
And she got to keep her job and keep her position. To this day, Pearl Lee is still employed at Janney Montgomery Scott.

So, what do you call a company who advertises and spouts "Our Fiduciary Duty" and "highest standard" and yet, keeps on their team - corrupt, unscrupulous, greedy staff like Pearl Lee?

Google "Pearl Lee Janney" and you will find multiple complaints about her spanning several years (and counting).

Closed my accounts using false statement

I was a Janney Montgomery Scott customer for 17 years. My family had been customers long before that, all the way back to my grandparents, and we had invested millions of dollars between all of us over the years with this company.

One day, I received a call from my financial advisor, who read me a provably false statement. She said that Janney was discontinuing service to me, my brother, and my employees because our cryptocurrency mining pool's blocks, some of which were sold to dollars and deposited into the Janney Montgomery Scott account, were an "unknown" source of funds.

Cryptocurrency mining results in the creation of money that has no history. It is not mathematically possible for the money to have ever passed through any criminal's hands, and the trail from the mined blocks to the bank accounts is publicly visible. On the other hand, Janney receives cash deposits and transfers from other accounts, all of which have unknown provenance, has no public record, and could easily have been involved in unknown activities. We never made any such cash transfers to our accounts.

Not only has Janney treated its long-time customers poorly, but they used a false statement to do so. Their closing of accounts cost me $1,000 in IRS penalties and fines, and caused debt collectors from the PA Department of Revenue to come looking for me after ACH withdrawals failed.

Choose another bank that won't close your accounts on false pretenses. Wells Fargo has never caused me any issues, and Seashore Wealth Management has provided high quality investment advice.
