I had been seeing ads for Chordly on my Instagram page, so one day I finally showed my wife because it looked like the perfect practice tool I had been hoping to find, and she went ahead and ordered it as a gift for me.
I have dabbled in music since high school as a drummer, I'm currently in my 40's and for some reason last October the siren song of the Fender Telecaster called to me, and I had no option bit to listen and learn. I have never been more disciplined in my desire to learn a new skill as I am with the guitar, I can already tell it's a lifelong love affair.
I have had a hang up though - I have been avoiding learning how to play chords like the plague, and this is where Chordly fits into my story.
It's the perfect size to take with me everywhere, which I do. It fits in my small everyday bag along with all my other essentials for daily life -my keys, wallet, pocket knife, phone, that stuff.
Chordly and the accompanying Quick Start guide along with my deck of Beginner cards help me to pass the time as the primary care parent. I am the one who takes the kids to and from school, all the appointments, the one who waits patiently in the lobby for hours on end. In the past I would listen to music, read books, stare at my phone, but once I started getting into actually getting better, I really wished I could just bring my guitar, but I also didn't want to be THAT GUY. Chordly absolutely solves this "problem" for me.
In the few days I have had Chordly, I have been hammering my 4 basic essential chords while sitting in the car in front of school, or in the lobby of the dance studio. I use it on the couch next to my lovely wife as we relax in the evening. I make sure I have Chordly tucked safely in it's pouch whenever I leave the house. I now know those 4 chords, my muscle memory is getting better and more automatic when switching shapes, it's an absolute win for me.
All those short waits add up to a lot of time pretty quick, so I am able to sneak in lots of practice when I would otherwise just be wasting time. I haven't even mentioned how I also use it to hone up my fingerstyle skills, as well as practicing hammer ons and pull offs, slides... all the things I was focused on instead of chords!
There really is no better way to train your hands and fingers to get used to playing guitar than by playing the guitar, but I think Chordly may have just flipped that script.

I purchased Chordly because I am a believer in using different tools to keep engaged in the process of learning.
I use it with my Fretboard Escalator to increase finger strength, scales and it really helps with stretching out the fingers.
Ease of access is great and I am a huge fan of getting off the screens and playing!
Quality is top notch, the stand is so cute!
As with anything the more you use it, and the more creative ways you can think of to use it, the more you will learn.
Well done to the Chordly team, who BTW is very communicative, has a great following and and very responsive to questions.
Great job all around!

Got my Chordly about a week before leaving for a long vacation…perfect! Couldn’t take my guitar along but Chordly allows me to work on chord transitions and picking for two pieces I’m working on. Easily packed and exceedingly useful. It even made it to the pool with me yesterday 😎. I expect to use it daily when I return home as I’ll be keeping it near the couch where I can grab it for practice while watching tv or in between other tasks. Great product, excellent quality, highly recommend!

I have purchased this product to help me with my chord grips, note reading and scales. Very useful tool to stay motivated and keep practice consistent. This allows me to practice on the car, while watching tv or on vacation. Pretty much almost anywhere.

Great experience: every promise of quality and workmanship made on KICKSTARTER was fulfilled and even surpassed. A great tool to practice guitar skills at the office - helps humanize the day!

I’m 74 and retired and I finally have the time. I wanted a tool that I could practice chords, chord progressions, finger exercises, finger strength etc. I didn’t want to pull the guitar out every time I wanted to work on these things. Then came Marty and family to the rescue.
When I saw Chordly on Kickstarter, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. And I wasn’t wrong. It’s a terrific practice tool. It will help you in mastering the guitar. Get it!!!!

I was so amazed at the quality of The Chordly, the premiere wood, strings, frets and nuts. It came packaged so nicely and the instructions were very well written. Love the clever practice card set and ingenious stand to display it. It is very comfortable to hold and work with. I'm having fun using it!

I’m about 2 years into guitar lessons and loving it. When I first started, I bought a plastic “pretend neck” on which I tried to practice my chord shapes when I didn’t have a guitar with me. It was flimsy and did not approximate the shape or feel of a real guitar neck. It broke after a week and recall thinking that the concept was good, but the execution terrible.
Enter Chordly – I happened on the Facebook ad and immediately backed it on Kickstarter. I’m thrilled with this instrument!! It is super well-made and feels like the top five frets of a guitar. The string tension is perfect and the action a close simulation of an actual guitar. My guitar teacher (performer and teacher) tried it out and gave his enthusiastic approval.
I’ve traveled a fair amount and have taken my Chordly on a vacation in Spain and a trip to California. On the plane, I was able to learn and practice C and G scales without bothering the person next to me – by the time we landed, I had a fair amount of muscle memory already. On our tour bus, others asked to try it out, including some advanced guitarists, who offered praise for the feel of Chordly.
I keep one of my two Chordlys (Chordlies?) in my backpack for work and errands and use it when I have downtime. I’m working through the beginner card deck and feel that, in this compact and well-designed package, my playing will advance/has advanced at a quicker pace. I’ve found it super helpful for developing muscle memory when learning fingerstyle pattern picking so my right hand loves it too.
Thanks Laurel and Marty – this is a terrific idea and tool to help aspiring guitarists!

I've been trying to learn guitar for years, but I inevitably tend to lose consistency and quit as social obligations and a busy schedule get in the way.
So far, this has been great for keeping my interest and preventing skill decay! Lately, whenever my wife and I are watching TV or hanging out I can pick this up and just absent mindedly bounce through chord progressions or try and learn new things. Now when I pick up my guitar after weeks without it, I don't feel like the first half hour is wasted just trying to relearn what I used to be able to do! Instead I have a mental list of new things I've practiced and want to finally try out on my guitar, complete game changer.
Great quality and craftsmanship. Actually feels solid in my hand and the strings are taut/ gauged in a familiar way. It's been great for maintaining calluses, hand strength and muscle memory.
Also! The card deck of exercises and challenges are a great addition. I don't necessarily use them every time, but if I'm bored it's nice to pull a card at random and have a direction without just endlessly browsing online resources.

As a 61 year old guitar beginner, I have struggled to find the right practice method that fits my learning style. Further, I hated the thought of dragging around a full sized instrument when I travel just to keep up my practice. I travel a lot so this mattered. Then comes Chordly! Solved my issues immediately...comes with amazing lesson card decks that help me visually, are simple and make perfect sense. The fret board is a shortened version so I can take it anywhere! Love this!!!

Chordly is everything I expected it to be. The material is great. It came with 2 decks of training cards so you can train on chordly and transfer what you’ve learned to the guitar. Very useful when you don’t want to bring your guitar on trips!! Get yourself a chordly!!

An awesome tool that comes with extra strings, tools for adjusting the strings and a great instruction set and you can order a deck of practice cards for drills and tips. Also, great tools available on the website. Marty and Laurel have done an amazing job. Get this beautiful tool and you will want to practice. Check it out #playchordlr

I purchased two Chordly kits and really enjoyed the unboxing experience! It’s clear that every detail of the product, accessories, and packaging had been carefully planned and flawlessly delivered. My spare Chordly will make a great gift!
Like others have noted, this product looks & feels like a guitar. I imagine those who already know how to play would benefit from having a Chordly as a helpful reminder to practice often. And how cool that it can sit on the mini guitar stand accessory right on my desk!

I am an early backer of Chordly. I'm so proud of the product Marty and Laurel released. The attention to detail is one of a product that has undergone years of tweaking and improvement. I gain nothing from this review except to share the wonderful possibilities it holds for people like me, who want to improve and practice on the guitar, but don't have one with us nearly as much as wed like. Great for finger strength, position and dexterity. Love my Chordly, and it looks great too!

When I got this in my hands for the first time
I never thought it could make my playing get cleaner and better in a very short period of time, less than a week yep you heard right less than a week and I saw BIG Results! I could see benefits on my dexterity, on my speed, and on my transitions, and finger picking,
Marty’s Family did a great job with creating this and the crafting and the design is very well made the back feel of the neck is very smooth and also comfortable for the thumb placement, I wouldn’t think twice to get one if you want to get serious and get results at playing guitar this is a portable and precise way of doing it doesn’t matter if your a beginner or a intermediate player this will make you perform better, for people it may look silly but hey even singers have to do silly noises to get better at singing right?

Great looking, professionally designed, superbly built product. I look forward to using mine to practice chords and do fret board exercises when lounging at home, traveling or any other time or place I don't have a guitar handy.

The Chordly is a wonderful training tool. Use of quality wood, nut material, real guitar strings and frets makes a huge difference and the feel is perfect for me. The neck shape is wonderful. I bought two so I could leave one in the car and expect to get at least a 1/2 hour a day while waiting for my wife’s train to arrive. Plus other practice time in between guitar sessions.
