While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more
To protect platform integrity, every review on our platform—verified or not—is screened by our 24/7 automated software. This technology is designed to identify and remove content that breaches our guidelines, including reviews that are not based on a genuine experience. Due to a change in circumstances, I contacted ISPE via email, and one of the staff disabled the auto-renew of my Plus membership on 23/01/23 so that I could investigate lesser membership options. My membership was then re-enabled late on 30/01/23 and apparently "set to revert to a Standard membership from 05/02/2023" by a different IPSE staff member. However the money came out of my card first thing on 31/01/23. I had not authorised this so I telephoned to request a refund, and am still waiting.

It is comforting to know that there is a form of "Union" for the self employed , who are so often the target of unfair treatment while the updates are absorbing and

Turns out i had responded to an unmonitored email, Richard responded and sorted it out. Had been a member for several years and enjoyed the benefits. However the ongoing IR35 changes to the freelance market meant that i’ve now taken up permanent employment; and no longer require membership

It was quick and easy to get results and I'm a happy customer.

I am very honoured to be apart this great institution. They are thorough and professional when dealing with my queries. They are always reaching out to me and checking whether if they can do anything else to to make me feel more welcome and become more enmeshed within their institution.

I don’t think my subscription was wholly worth the money. There were a few times I asked IPSE for advice and got no response. The are other companies I’ve used such as Abbey Tax who have been far more helpful and cheaper over the long run.

IPSE is a valuable source of information and essential for anyone involved in freelancing or thinking about going it alone. The organisation not only provides valuable knowledge but is also a powerful voice for those who have either voluntarily entered the freelancing world or who have had little or no other choice.
The seminars run by Andy Chamberlain and his team are first class.
Many thanks

Really great organization, IPSE have myriad benefit well beyond the cost of membership in terms of ROI. In addition to this, IPSE is always in our corner as business owners and freelancers - their webinars are forever informative and our business goes from strength to strength with IPSE on our side.

It is always good to attend these, both to get and refresh what's happening in the IPSE world that affects us (and there has been a lot over the last year, what with the railroading of the fundamentally flawed IR35, and Umbrellas and no support during the pandemic) and to keep abreast of guidelines for the breadth of scope that many not in the independent/freelance world take for granted.
As well as Keynotes, there were multiple talks and presentations around the themes of Finance (for later life, protection from hackers, contractual mistakes, mortgages), Winning Work (1st meeting with a client, gaining more time-money-success, winning work post-pandemic, rate negotiation, social media), Wellbeing (healthy habits, overcoming self-doubt, mental health survival guide), and Workshops (marketing & branding, advanced CV writing, diversity-equity-inclusion, LinkedIn masterclass).
While it's always good to meet in person, I found it even better virtually as you don't have to go round hunting for the right rooms, finding them full and then having to go find others. Instead, even though you have to miss parallel sessions, the on-demand catch-up gives you the content legibly rather than a video of a screen from the far end of the room. And you can get a good cup of tea too.
