We booked our travel thru interval for…AND WAS PLACED IN A LESSER ROOM THAN WHAT WAS BOOKED

We booked our travel thru interval for Vidante in Mexico. Vidante in Cancun has a multiple hotels within their resort. Our hotel was the Bliss. When we arrived in Mexico we were told our hotel is the Mayan Palace. We stated this is wrong, we are at the Bliss. A much cheaper per night room and older hotel. They tried to tell us they are the same. We said well why are the rates different. Oh they are the same…. BS! While there, the rooms are subpar and one of our two bedrooms/bath had no hot water. Weird… YES! Then we went back to the front desk the next day and they stated there is nothing they can do. We said we are not going to let it ruin our vacation. 6 days into the vacation, my 3 year old got sick. We just wanted to get on our flight and leave this misery…. As soon as our flight landed, we scheduled a doc appointment for our very sick 3 year old. She pooped 18 times on the 6 hour flight. We went to the hospital the same day we flew home…. They tested her stool. 2 days later she was diagnosed with Salmonella. During this whole week and when we got home, we tried calling INTERVAL a handful of times with no luck of an agent. Then someone finally calls my wife since she started calling every number there and leaving messages for managers. The manager did not even apologize to her about this unforgettable experience. This is the WORST customer experience ever. Oh, the manager didn’t even believe my wife about my daughter having salmonella and stated there is no notes at the hotel. Well the CDC knows and the WA health department does. Since it happened in Mexico, they can’t do anything. That’s at least what we were told. This is the worst customer service from Interval and be careful booking thru them, their agents will place you in a lesser room than what you paid for. If anyone want’s to see our records, please feel free to reach out.

II WORKS WELL FOR US

We bought our Sunterra/Diamond resorts timeshare c. 1992, in Sedona, with the intention of exchanging, which we have done every year since. Diamond Resorts first partnered with RCI, then switched to II. I’ve been happy with both companies. We are flexible, able to travel all times of year and take advantage of half-point opportunities that suddenly pop up. We are open to going somewhere unknown. We receive 10,000 pts per year, 2500 pts every other year, and by exchanging and carrying over unused points, can book three or four weeks per year. Have stayed at Marriott properties in CA, UT, and Boston. Have exchanged for various properties in San Francisco more than any other location. Exchanged in Malaga, Spain once. Always book online, have called customer support occasionally and been well taken care of. Last year, for the first time ever, I paid for E-plus for one reservation, which paid off, I had to cancel and rebook that reservation four weeks before arrival. Today, I exchanged for a 2-br. unit in San Antonio, TX and a 1-br. unit in Ventura, CA, at properties we have stayed at and liked. Yes, I would like fabulous resorts to be available when I search, and I would like every unit to have an awesome view, but I really can’t complain…we’ve had wonderful experiences that we never would have had except for owning a timeshare.

Some Good Trades Others Not Available

We have traded for Mexico twice and Cayman Island: all over Christmas. That was a great deal as prices are higher over Chrismas. Plus, Grand Canary Island. I was not able to get a trade for Phoenix (high season) and am waiting for Australia for next January. The resort in Collingwood, ON was a bust as it had not been upgraded in 13 years and the pool and other areas are run down. In a few days, I will have a Marriott Bangkok trade but they sent me a notice that it's under renovation. I've paid my maintenance fees and hope to do two more trades and then will give back my Sheraton Vistana Kissimmee timeshare back to Marriott. I'm wondering how much of a deal it is when the condo maintenance fees, Interval Int. membership fees, and the trade fees. are added up. I've paid to extend the trade as I could not travel during COVID. The price is not righ!

Interval wants money up front before they give you the information you need.

As others have found Interval is bordering on being a scam. I am told they have other locations I can trade my top of the line timeshare for, but I am not able to determine if they are open to trade or what conditions and restrictions there are, without paying a $99 fee up front. They also do not have a complaint department and that speaks volumes right there. Where else do you need to pay $99 (US) just to be able to look through their web page...I can only believe it is because their system is a pile of S&&T and they want their money up front before you find that out. Bait and switch..not really but a scam for sure.

I was new to Interval and needed help navigating their website I was on hold over an 1.5 hr and never talked to anyone. When I finally figured it out myself they wanted approximately 1 week at my resort for 1 night at a nice motel. I could have gotten a better deal on a cruise without giving up any points. Take your loss and bail out.

E-Plus Retrade is a scam!

If you are using Interval International, DO NOT be fooled into the security the "E-Plus ReTrade" pretends to offer! We paid the extra $89 on 4 different reservations, only to find out after ( of course when we wanted to change them...) that the ReTrade program is restricted to 60 day window of your original transaction date, and to VERY limited inventory if ANY?! We can see tons of inventory on the exchange tab, but are not permitted to to "Trade" to these as they are not part of the EPlus inventory! We have spent hours on the phone arguing with II because nowhere does it say anything about these restrictions! They have promised to have a manager phone us to resolve and its been 2 weeks and of course nothing! This is after approx. 6 phone calls by us, most of which we are disconnected after being put on hold. They are not a trustworthy travel partner.

The interval site does not work

The interval site does not work. The server is down. Always. You can try downloading the app, you can try entering through the email and you can try just about every other way possible, it doesn't work. It doesn't even get you to their page.
Marriott Vacation Club is very limited where you can travel especially outside the U.S. The sales pitch is deceiving. Save your money and travel without this useless vacation club.

Do not Prepaid your membership for more than a year.

I use this service through a timeshare my wife and I purchased years ago. They told us all the good stuff they need us to know about their service at their presentation . We had our good times and bad experiences with them not finding the vacation destinations that we desire, However we let it slide unfortunately we recently had our worst experience with interval that made us know that finally we are done dealing with them and will not renew membership ever again with this company due to the fact that they were not cooperative when my wife and I made reservations to go to an island resort through them and the the facility that we had researched could accommodate her medical care as promised and we asked Interval International to help us with an exchange for another we found that could accommodate medical issues. They claimed that they could not do it yet still the island had no issue canceling the reservation. So after they told us that we could not get our money back we had no choice but to contact our bank. Now they put a lock on our account that we prepaid for 3 year. Just a reminder you might not experience problems now, but you will with this company they get members prepaid and take their money off the top, the feed you to the wolves. You don’ need them if you a timeshare owner a lot more competent company out here we learn after 20 + years.

Never ever buy a timeshare or use…

Never ever buy a timeshare or use Interval International
In my younger foolish years I fell into the Westgate lakes timeshare trap! In over 2 decades of ownership, I have regretted the day I signed up. The lies and deceit used to sell "a dream vacation" is a reoccurring EXPENSIVE nightmare. Interval never has properties available and they kill you with fees. They 'offer' extra gift weeks that are useless unless you want to go to the middle of no where in Finland in February. How do I get rid of this holiday timeshare nightmare, which costs a ton in yearly maintenance and tax fees. BEWARE, if you live outside the USA, DO NOT FALL for this and STAY WELL CLEAR. Customer service staff are unhelpful and just a waste of time. especially the ones who respond to email requests.

I use this service through a timeshare…

I use this service through a timeshare package I bought. The customer service was great, however the selection is extremely scare. Seems almost every resort I looked into trading didn't apply or wasn't "available" no matter the dates I asked for or how in advance I requested it. They are unable to relate any fees these resorts charge and was surprised to find out in one book they charged a time share tax and for electrical. That should have been something related to us before booking. In addition for all inclusive resorts Interval has NOT worked out a deal for their customer for the all-inclusive food portion of your stay and say that's up to you to deal directly with the resorts. When you do, the resort charges an a crazy high price to add the food. I could literaly use Expedia and book the same resort all-inclusive vacation package which includes transporation, food and flight for LESS than what the resort wants to charge to "add" food going through interval.

Hang your luggage in a closet. Ridiculous

2nd bedroom closet in Oceanside 99 condaminiums blocked by bed. Management think I am unreasonable to want to hang my clothes up. Management suggested I cross over bed to hang my clothes up. There is an easy solution move the chest of drawers between the beds to the empty wall opposite so the beds are closer together then you could get into the closet. 150 usd fine if a guest moves furniture. What clown set up the beds blocking the closet. Seems Interval like to employ people with no common sense. Accomodation provided by interval deteriorated badly over the years. Lost the nice places all they had now it is old, worn or not functional. I am apparently odd for wanting to hang clothes up. They think I should spend a week living out of a suitcase.Like to see the CEO's wife clamber over a bed to hang clothes up

Deceptive if not completely dishonest

Deceptive if not completely dishonest. I booked a Getaway Vacation at a resort in Oro Valley AZ months ago. The day before my arrival I received a call from Interval indicating the resort experienced some sort of issue with the building in which I was to stay. I called the resort and they clearly stated that Interval had over booked and they had been advised of this weeks before. So this led me to the conclusion that someone at Interval was not telling the truth and worse yet, sat on the news of the cancellation to the last minute. Terrible business practice! I've been a client of interval for over 20 years, Not Anymore!

NO HELP after Maui fires!!!

We had made a trade of our timeshare for Maui, right in Lahaina, with Interval International about 2 weeks before the fires. Our week in Maui was to be April 2024. I don't even know if the building is still standing (I doubt it) - but Interval will do NOTHING to help us. We will have to pay another $229 exchange fee!! Unbelievable, unprofessional, and GREEDY. We contacted our timeshare and they are gracious enough to give us a free exchange. We will not be renewing with Interval and may try to get rid of our timeshare after this. I've had enough with all the extra costs involved....

Linda from Taino Beach Resort - 0 stars

We met with Linda from the sales office at Taino Beach Resort - we were open to looking into a timeshare but when we told her we weren’t interested (because the property is run down, our AC isn’t working, the pool is disgusting, and everything closes before 7pm) Linda wouldn’t give us the snorkeling passes we were promised. Not only did she get snippy and rude once she realized the timeshare doesn’t make sense for us she didn’t give us the one thing we were entitled to for our time. I would NEVER buy here!!!

Totally wrongful advise was given to…

Totally wrongful advise was given to book a vacation. Additionally, neglected to follow up on the wrongful advise given. When we reached our destination reservation, the reservation was not honored by the resort. When we tried to contact Interval to help, we were just transferred around and around, and the Reps assisting were very rude and unprofessional

Zero stars would have been more appropriate

We were just informed that the Coconut Palms II which is a had booked for our exchange week is not finished being renovated after a hurricane last year. Interval literally told us they have nothing else available on the beach anywhere in the state of Florida and don’t seem to care that we have non-refundable flights. My entire family was flying in for this family holiday and everything is just in shambles now. Customer service representative was not only completely void of empathy but almost took joy in saying “the accommodations are subject to change ma’am. We are not responsible for your travel accommodations” … when we asked what would become of our non-refundable flights. My heart is hurting and this company is is all too happy to say “oh well”. My suggestion is find another means of travel, another company, another service provider. Anyone but these people

Incompetence CS Reps and Unethical Business

I assisted a friend with a certificate to book a reservation. They added his name to my account. The first representative used the wrong address and couldn't process the credit card and told him to contact his Bank. The Bank verified that she did indeed enter the wrong address. The second representative booked the reservation, but booked it in my name using my address and his credit card. To make matters worse the second representative is the one that added his name to my membership account. Note, my address was incorrect because it didn't have my apartment number on it anyway, which means that if something was mailed out I would have never received it. My friend requested the insurance for travel and the second representative put the travel insurance in my name. The third representative told me that the name could be transferred and told me to contact the insurance agency. The insurance agency said that the representative was wrong and that the policy had to be canceled and that it was in fact in my name and not in the person's name that had booked the reservation through interval international. When I contacted the interval international and told them, they said that my friend's name was attached to the reservation, however that did not reflect with the travel insurance company. When I requested that the reservation be canceled and rebooked, they told me that my friend would have to pay a $100 cancellation fee for a rebook if he wanted the insurance, this is after they are obviously the ones that made the mistake. I had a conference call with the insurance company and interval international to prove that they were the ones who indeed messed up the reservation and they still wanted to charge my friend $100 to cancel and to rebook along with the travel insurance. The supervisor who claimed that he was a supervisor was totally 100% useless as the only thing that he was able to do was give me an email for a correspondence to request that my friend not pay the $100 for the cancellation and rebook. It is the saddest experience I have ever had with interval international in my 13 years as a loyal customer and former time share owner. I sent them an email and of course they did not get back to me, I gave them my telephone number and of course no one has called me as of yet. I am totally embarrassed by them and they're unethical activities and the incompetence of the customer service Representatives and the useless supervisor who did absolutely nothing to resolve my problem. My suggestion to you that if you have a membership with these guys make sure if you do use a certificate for friends and family, before you even get off of the phone verify that everything is correct including the name, addresses the insurance and everything else because, you actually have to prompt, the customer service representatives to do their job. I even had to explain to the representative to itemize the reason why my friend was paying what he was actually paying for, and to specify the amenities for the booking. It was the most pathetic display of unprofessionalism I had ever seen in the 54 years that I've been on this planet.

Useless outside of US

Maybe it works for Americans but certainly did not work for us in Europe or Australia. Tried to “exchange” many times eventually losing 2 Marriott deposits. Strange that some of the resorts we tried “exchanging” were unavailable but available for “Getaways” which must be purchased. Think long and hard before wasting your money.

This used to be good 2-3 years ago but…

This used to be good 2-3 years ago but there’s barely any decent destinations to use a certificate on any more. To add insult to injury, they set you up to pay exorbitant amount of money in hidden fees.

❗️❗️What’s the point of the certificate if I’m just going to end up paying regular price or more anyway.❗️❗️

At this point they should sacrifice the amount of certificates they give to customer in exchange for better quality & options.
