TOTAL SCAM
TOTAL SCAM I booked a car through auto europe for Malaga Spain where they use Goldcar/Interrent. I paid for 7 days in full for the car and excess protection on line. At the check in desk I was asked for my credit card for "petrol deposit" but was charged £223 of which only £68.29 was refunded. The explanation from Auto Europe was that I had purchased another optional insurance for for 180+ euros. Absolute rubbish!! At no time was I asked whether I wanted this - I had already paid for excess protection! THIS IS A SCAM.
There should be a zero star rating for this company.
With over 90% of reviews rating this company as 1 star (bad), I’m fairly certain it would be lower if it was possible to award zero stars. Customer service is appalling and I genuinely think all staff have been specially trained to treat you as badly as possible. Intimidating you into buying extra insurance, saying your car is not available if you arrive at the desk a few minutes early. The staff on the phone tell you one thing, the staff at the counter say another. You can see most people in the queue ahead of you seem to be arguing. The rates are are cheaper than competitors but you may pay the price of being intimidated and treated like garbage.

€200 charge for a missing puncture repair kit that we never knew to check and absolutely have never used it, no way it contact them as the email is a no reply
Dishonest, unfair, rude
Incredibly hard sell to buy their own insurance, but given that I had purchased Auto-Europe insurance I felt there was no justification to purchase an additional insurance.
There must be a rudeness school to train people in this organisation, as all people I came across were extremely rude.
There was no opportunity for us to verify claims of damage, just some photographs taken after we left.
For small scratches they charged €770, plus another €180 or so for 3 days rental "as they could not possibly use the vehicle during this time".
All extremely unsatisfactory. Will now try to claim these on my original insurance, but frankly this is not what I had expected.
On picking up the car
On picking up the car, first they wanted me to pay extra for upgrade than they try to charge me for extra insurance, than they said that my card was declined (not possible), they blocked 1100 euros on further 3 cards, the staff were insulting and rude, after waiting for more than 1 hour and charging me for out of hours 40 euro, I had enough and now after a couple of month I am still arguing over via emails.
Interrent in Spain have recently been…
Interrent in Spain have recently been taken over by Goldcar. Unrtio then when I had used them I had no issues at all, but out of my last 4 rentals, three of them have resulted lengthy claims of refunds on my part because they make charges to your card that are "in error". They are supposed to get your credit card "authorised" but not charged for rental on pick up but twice they have actually taken the money and by the time they refunded it, due to fluctuations in exchange rate, they paid me back less than they had taken! Nightmare. The other time, when I picked up the car, on returning it I noticed they had made charges for: An additional driver (there was only me!) a new car (whichI did not ask for, they gave me!) airport pick up (included in the original contract with autoeurope!) and a refuelling charge (despite having full to full rental and filling it up!)
They are real scammers and suggest that you use ANY other company except them! When I spoke to the police about them taking one from my card amounting to theft, he told me they were well known for this kind of scam. BEWARE!!!!!!
Be careful with this company, they are scammers.k
Be careful with this company, are a pure scam. Never book anything with them, you’ll regret it snd lose your money.
A bunch of thieves and con-men
A bunch of thieves and con-men
Booked on holiday autos and selected this company as the cheapest. Oh dear...
Staff on the desk were rude and tried to lie about insurance needed to get extra money. Heard them being foul mouthed in Spanish about a german customer (seems they assumed no-one would speak spanish in Mallorca)
Took ages to get given a car that was lower spec to what I booked and paid for. Covered in dents and scratches - with a few (less than 5cms not marked). These staff were rude as well.
However it was when I got home, was where I saw where their business model kicks in... they have also conned me out of 15 euros by adding a smart return fee to my "deposit", which I did not spot until they returned my deposit and was short by that amount. I specfically asked would I be returned the full amount if I returned the car full and was told yes - well what does their word mean?
I didn't ask for "smart deposit" and didnt use it, I turned up and asked them to inspect the car - but they didn't, and told me just to put the keys in the box. So I guess that is their plan.
Reading the other reviews seems I got lucky by only being conned out of this amount.
NEVER NEVER NEVER again will they trick me, if you are reading this from my (and others lessons) and pay a couple of quid more, it will work out cheaper in the long run!
PS I hope they all rot in hell - is that too harsh?
Dishonest company and rude service
Thieves & Pirates
I originally booked with FIREFLY via EASSYJET. However, when I arrived at Alicante Airport I noticed every customer queing is nice and calm until their turn is up and then I noticed a change in their behaviour. Arms raised, huffing & puffing, looking around them and holding their heads with despair. Okthen, my turn now. I have been told to pay 114 euros for fuel !! and that I should get it back if I return it with fulll tank. I asked would I get the full amount of money back? the guy hesitated to answer but still said yes. I asked again and telling him that you need to confirm on the contract that you are returning all the 114 euros. he then told me that they would keep 65 euros as ADMIN FEE.
I said NO, I don't want the car and I went with INTERRENT. The car wasn't ready I had to wait then I found it Dirly and full of scratches etc. I went back to the desk to report certain Damages then again I had to wait as they guys seemed busy. I finally got to speak someone only to tell me not to worry if the scratches are not larger than the circle they provide you with in your rent contract don't worry about, He added that the car is scratched already so you should be fine sir!! I went home I received my credit card bill 247 euros wow. However, the report you recieve you has 0euro to pay ..very confusing and misleading. Then they send me someone else's invoice !!! I had all the other person's details. I presume someone else got mine too because I had to request mine twice..
A clear case of a breach of personal confidential DATA.
ANYWAYS, stay away from these thieves .. WHY does the European Ombudsmen of Travel does not step in and shut down these clowns.NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO THEY WILL CHEAT YOU
€114 in extra charges I was not told about, STAY WELL CLEAR Of InterRent
I have just returned back from Spain after renting a car for a week from InterRent, Alicante Airport, Spain. After checking my credit card bill I have found that I have been charged the following additional charges that I was not informed about, €20 euro for picking a diesel vehicle over a petrol (I was not even asked if I wanted a petrol vehicle). An out of hours opening fee of €40 (I picked the car up at 11.30pm after waiting over 30 mins to pick it up). Within 15 mins of picking the car up an Adblue light came on so I was charged €30 for Adblue to be added (why should I pay for other people’s Adblue, shouldn’t this have been topped up by InterRent before I picked it up?) And finally I was charged €13.97 a Premium Office Fee, this is due to the office being in the airport it appears we have to pay extra for this privilege.
I probably hire a minimum of 12 cars + pa and never before I have been hit with additional charges like InterRent have charged. I have tried to contact InterRent to raise my grievance but you can only email support and nobody comes back to you. The funny thing is that InterRent weren’t even the cheapest, I always go with a mid range company just so that I receive a good service. STAY WELL CLEAR of InterRent
The charge over 200€ for old damages
Using this company will ruin your vacation and your wallet.
When we picked up the car, it was highly damaged and the report didn’t reflect any of the damages. We asked for an update of the report before driving away (so we won’t get blamed and charged for the big damages). It took us more than an hour to get a person to attend us.
We finally got an update of the report and we drove away and return the car with no new damages.some weeks after we were charged over 200€ for damages (with no notice but a bank extract). Now we aren’t in the middle of the reclamation process which is extremely complicated, time consuming and maybe ineffective.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Interrent not what you expect
We had rented a Peugeot 5008 with A / C or a similar car. The Peugeot 5008 was of course no longer there. As a comparable car, I got a Dacia Lodgy without A / C. The only thing that these 2 cars have in common is that they have 4 wheels. If I would pay 182.95 then I got a Volskwagen Caddy 7 seat with AC and navigation. This car was their sister company Europcar. My wife and children were waiting and paid. The car turned completely under the dents and scratches to sit. 30 photos taken.Navigation was not there. Got a TomTom with it. In short, I feel taken to my nose. In any case, I will never again do business with them or Europcar.
This was a nightmare
xpp3526This was a nightmare! This company does not respect you as a customer! They tried to hassle and they are completed idiot´s! Over 2 hours to get a car. If you not pay 6 Euro in advance to the company for cleaning the car when returned you should expect 20 Euros for cleaning!??? I expect that it was expected that customer after used the car the car need to be fixed by the rental no cost for customer. It was more than 10 in queue behind us and it took more than 2 hours for us to get the car! I will not think about how long time this people has to wait before the desk. 4 hours as minimum. People shouting to the desk and ask what happens, and was really ??"#"" off.! When I booked I got all I needed by internet, extra insurance etc. but no! That insurance was nothing to have. Do not cover anything they said. All because they want to sell an extra insurance to us. IDIOT`S!!! Today’s offer takes about 10 minutes for the desk to explain and I said that I do not want an upgrade for extra money! If I not listen to her, I cannot get my booked car. We ask for the supervisor to stepped in and let us go, but no. She was obligated to explain everything for us and we have to listen to all that "#¤%%¤##! I was forced to sign for the car and that it has no damage before I get the key! I was not allowed to see the car before!!!!! IDIOT`S AGAIN! DO NOT RENT CAR FROM THEM!!!!!
Interrent in Tenerife - the worst car hire company to deal with...
Interrent - the worst car hire company to deal with.
I've booked a car - and PAID for it. Booking ref: 10419750. When I arrived to pick up the car I've been told that the car that I've booked (and paid for) is not available because I came too late. Then I've been told that it's not a problem and they can give me another car. But I have to pay almost the same amount that I've paid for a reservation.
When I said that it's better for me to cancel the reservation than double price, I've been advised to go to some other Interrent bureau and talk with some client service representative to find out whether I will be able to get my money back.
So basically they forced me to choose one of the options:
Pay almost double price for my reservation,
Cancel the reservation (because they were not able to provide a purchase that I already paid for!) without knowing if I'll be able to get my money back.
That's a FRAUD in bright daylight and I really hope that it'll end up one day.
Bad, Bad, Bad !!
Tenerife airport, at the car rental parking station...two faces of the coin. Gently but...
so called "service express fuel" 34 € (described in Autoeurope voucher so no issue for that even if i don't agree, since the Fuel station is at 1 min from them!!)
but there is a so called "express fuel" € 56 for what??? (not described in Autoeurope and you can't avoid it because is the cost of the tank filled) they gave me back 19€ to 1/4 fuel tank left with Fuel full-empty policy. I was expecting €54 instead. The contract gave me did not describe the damages on the car. They ask me to take pictures to eventually prove them, (more wasted time!!) the lady also said she couldn't sign the contract with the damages eventually added by me because she doesn't have the right for do it (ahh that's funny). I really felt to be deceived. In add, one person only was there during my check-out and there was one hour queue. The idea in my opinion is that in Tenerife a lot of these Rentals car play the same game Fuel Full-empty to get money, playing on the different in languages and talking fast, people stressed about the queue just sign because they want just to leave and start their holiday. Unbelievable. Not a professional behaviour at all for me.
HORRIBLE
I took the car in Tenerife Airport. The guy at the desk insisted I take an insurance (even if I had already paid an insurance with autoeurope.es).
Then when I returned the car, I filled up the car with gas and Interrent was supposed to refund the "express fuel".
First of all, they didn't refund anything.
Then, they didn't answer my emails (I sent them 6 emails).
It's a bad experience with interrent.
Downgraded class of car!
We booked an Economy class car through Rental Cars, and was advised that we would pick up a Polo, Fiesta, Corsa or something in that class. On arriving at the Interrent desk in Malaga, we were offered a Fiat 500 as the only option. We protested that this was in the 'mini' category, but to no avail. Despite it being such a small car, Interrent apparently classed it as Economy because it had a sunroof! He then proceeded to offer us a bigger car (i.e. something in the Economy class that we had already booked) for another 42 euros! We declined. After complaining to Rental Cars about our experience, we were offered a derisory £5 refund from Interrent for our troubles! Companies like this do themselves no favours in the long run, and I certainly will never hire a car from Interrent again.
Slow Service, Late Charges & No Custormer Response
On 5/8/16, I collected a pre-booked, pre-paid car at Barcelona Airport. There was a three hour wait until around midnight because of a system problem.
On 19/8/16 the car was returned to Barcelona Airport on time & in good condition with no additional charges due.
The same day, InterRent issued an invoice showing an additional charge of EUR120.92 which was charged to my card account the same day. A copy is attached. This was based on InterRent changing the charging basis from the agreed fixed price to a charge per day.
I emailed twice to customer services objecting to this additional; charge but received no response.
I contacted my credit card company who suspended the charge. As there was no response from InterRent after 45 days the charge has been credited back to my account.
On 14/11/16, three months after the return of the car, InterRent applied a further charge of EUR 40.37. I have no absolutely no knowledge of the reason for this charge & have raised with my credit card company who have suspended it.
InterRent Spain appear to have an inertial charging approach where they hope that customers don ’t notice or can’t be bothered to pursue additional charges.
