Very unhelpful private clinic
Very unhelpful private clinic. Wondered if baby had tongue tie as struggling to breastfeed at the time. We paid £75 for hour consultation, and if our baby needed the procedure it was a further £125 to pay there and then.
Appointment was at 12PM. She didn't see us until 12.15 to 12.20. Baby wasn't tongue tied. Tried to breast feed. Failed. Offered to give formula. Felt awful. She said baby was used to bottle. Tried to fob us off at 12.45PM. Woman with a false sense of empathy and care. Is she an expert on infant feeding? Didn't look like it.
Knowing how distressed I was at struggling to breastfeed at the time, she used my mental illness against me to make out that breast feeding was too much hard work AND said baby was used to the bottle now. Terrible thing to say to a mother who wants so desperate to breast feed.
I hate the formula market. I hate Nestle and what they did to those poor women. There is absolutely no need for mothers to formula feed when their breasts provide enough nutrition for their baby. Who has the time to express five or six times a day for 30 mins, yet she told me to express more.
Her website says she is a baby infant feeding specialist, yet she couldn't work wonders to get my baby to latch. She promised she would contact a midwife I gave her contact details for, but I never heard back from anyone. She said she would phone me two weeks for update. Never heard from this time waster.
I should have just bought my husband £75 worth of cream cakes and Crabbies Ginger Beer, because HE is the encouragement to me, and since that dreadful appointment with a woman who is no advocate for breast feeding, thank God I've been exclusively breast feeding my beautiful daughter and she is growing and thriving.
Don't waste your money on this charlatan. My beautiful baby is 31 days old and now weighs 9lbs 7oz from her 8lbs 4oz weight on 28 April. She's gained all the weight from what she lost at birth, and I am so grateful to God for her and my supportive encouraging husband who has done more for me than any private 'expert' or NHS nurse.
I think when mothers are really struggling, even for these lactation experts, they don't want to put in the work to help them, and I think that's why most mothers give up.
I was told that breast feeding is hard work. Sure, it is hard work when baby is hungry and you want to soothe them to sleep, but getting baby to latch on is easy once you have a good routine going, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Jesus will help you, as he has helped me. Don't give up and let the evil formula market win.
