Unpleasant business practices

We ordered the tree survey from this company. The business provided an itemised quote of which survey was just one line. They then later carried on with “services” beyond the initial paid surveys and demanded payment for all items of their quote. When challenged, they just insisted we must pay.

I recommend to use other companies that have more transparency when dealing with customers.

Hi Alexey -

We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience. Our quotations are always itemised in stages with fixed costs to show the full scope of work required for a planning-compliant service. This includes the initial site survey and specialist baseline advice (stage 1), a review of your proposal with planning policy and compliance advice (stage 2), and preparation of formal plan and report work for submission (stage 3); these steps are all part of the standard process required by local planning authorities.

In this case, we provided a quote with the necessary three stages of work to meet the planning requirements, and we completed these works as instructed by you. We kept you informed at each stage of work we completed and you provided plans and information to facilitate that.

The 20% addition you queried in our email correspondence relates to VAT, which we clearly state in our quotations and apply in line with UK government and standard business practice.

We always aim to be transparent and clear at every stage of the process, from initial enquiry to delivery, and appreciate that planning processes can sometimes feel complex, which is why we always explain each stage carefully, and are happy to discuss any aspect of our quotations or process at any time.

We take feedback seriously and will continue to provide itemised fixed cost quotes and ensure our communication remains clear and professional. We are also very proud that practical all of our clients value our thorough and professional approach in supporting their projects through the planning process.

Kind regards,
Andrew Turnbull, Director
On behalf of the Indigo Surveys Ltd team.
