This official sit is the most incompetent site I have ever encountered. I have spent hours being bumped off & re-inputting data in order complete four application forms. The process is so stressful. O... See more

I really don't know where to start
I really don't know where to start. I am no 6 days in applying for a visa for my son. I never get to reach the last page to upload the documents and there is nobody to turn to. I have a whole family holiday resting on this and nobody can or is willing to help. Every route prevents you from speaking to a human for advise and I am now at my witts end and about to lose £15k because of sheer incompetance of the Indian government visa site. If anybody knows how I can expedite the process please let me know.
The visa website is terrible
The visa website is terrible, not enough space for data, no guidance on what symbols are not allowed. This time around i applied for a business visa to attend some customer sites and a run a conference my company ran. I have always attended on a business visa before. This time i had my visa refused after a 3 week wait and told to raise a conference visa. This was also then refused and told to raise a business visa. madness
Absolute disaster!
Absolute disaster!
Completed data are not saved, tried 7 times and had to give up for today... have no time for sitting on this site the whole day.
Indian eVisa website is so USELESS
The Indian eVisa website is honestly one of the worst government portals I have ever used.
It feels like a third-rate, outdated system that has not been properly updated or tested in years. The layout is confusing, instructions are unclear, and the entire process is unnecessarily complicated.
Uploading documents is a nightmare, the photo specifications are excessive and poorly explained, and the system frequently throws vague error messages that give you no real guidance on how to fix the issue. Pages time out unexpectedly, forcing you to start over, which is incredibly frustrating.
For a country of India’s global standing and technological reputation, this platform is shockingly below standard. It lacks basic usability, modern design principles, and proper user testing.
This website urgently needs a complete overhaul. At the moment, it creates stress and confusion instead of providing a smooth visa application experience.
SACK THE PEOPLE WHO DESIGNED AND TESTED THE WEBSITE. BLOODY USELESS
Shockingly awful website and service…
Shockingly awful website and service level. An immensely frustrating and time-wasting experience. A terrible first impression of India.
After crashing repeatedly on my wife…
After crashing repeatedly on my wife for named and un-named errors over the course of 2 days (sending you back to the beginning each time), she finally got our visas in. Like, they kept on rejecting the pictures, but not saying why. To be clear, my wife is native Indian, has two law degrees, and is highly computer-literate.
Then, at the airport... we discover... she missed a digit.
Now, on any other website, if you try to enter a phone number, or a credit card number, or a zip code (or a passport number!), with the wrong number of digits, it stops you. This is basic data validation. India whatever dot whatever apparently doesn't aspire to the same high standard as any corner bodega where you get on their mailing list. So now thousands of dollars of tickets and vacation time are at risk, not to mention some 80-year-olds getting to see their grand-daughter, because the passport of an 8-year-old is missing a digit. Because the airline is scared sh-tless of Indian customs. "We do this for another country," they say, "but India will send her home."
worst Wbsite ever!!!…
This website is not even worth a one-star, and the ridiculous thing about it is that the indian govarment is doing NOTHING regarding any improvement!!
Sooooo typical!!!
Terrible Customer Experience in 2026
For a country with millions of software developers, for this to be the experience of foreign nationals highlights is a discredit to all Indians.
The site was always poorly structured, the form (unnecessarily) difficult to complete but in the recent few months it is crashing on a regular basis. In the last 48 hours I have been unable to submit all details for a visa using multiple devices and browsers (after clearing cache)
Absolutely pathetic
Absolutely pathetic. Just slow and always crashing. This is what happens when bunch of fools design a website. They have no idea how frustrating this is because they would never have an opportunity to go out and apply for visa. They purposly make it so annoying so they can ask for more money from the government and try to improve it.. Unsuccessfully, of course!
Applying for an evisa is a punishment for wanting to visit India
If I could give less than 1 star I would. The whole application process feels like a punishment for wanting to visit India. I can concur with everything everyone else has said. I have been trying for days to get a simple tourist evisa but I am going to have to use a ripoff agency. The application form will not allow me to fill in details and today, the final straw...the drop-down "visa service" menu does not drop down so I cannot proceed from Page 1. I have telephoned the "help line" £25 spent to listen to an automated response. On the second call, it told me that I would be put through to an "evisa support executive" after holding on for about 5 minutes, they hung up on me. In addition, I tried to make an appointment to go to the Indian Consulate in Birmingham for a paper tourist visa. It is again an automated service which informed me that the next available appointment is 22/11/26. I am travelling at the end of February 2026!
I should have given zero star but no…
I should have given zero star but no option but to select one. Absolute sham, time wasting, too slow, feel like you are hitting a wall every time you fill info multiple times but it won't process and won't take you to the next page. Hidden column(s) and you will keep on getting error message that you didn't fill the hidden column ??? Come on India you can do much much better.........
Most terrible website existing in the…
Most terrible website existing in the world. No improvement and customer care people are terrible too, no improvement in their services too. Is this how India will become a developed country?
What an absolute sham...
What an absolute sham...how difficult is it? Website doesn't function very well in the first place. It gets worse...This is just for a transit visa, I send them as requested, my flight tickets dated 12th Jan entering India and again during my return on 9th Feb...so they issue a visa for the 29th December for 30 days!!!! Absolute retards, now they tell me I have to have another visa for the return journey, they get it wrong and now it's my problem.
Double check the quality of the Photograph
I applied for E-Visas for my Son and Daughter with not so good quality of Photographs (which I go to know later), they rejected my Daughter's application but approving my Son's. Ofcourse they don't refund the money back.
They have such a poor Website, c'mon please do not accept the Photograph if it is of bad quality. They need to work and invest Money on their Website.
absolute crap experience
This is by far the worst web site for applications I have used in 20 years, keeps crashing , does not save data, I followed the instructions about clearing casche, browsing history etc.., made zero difference even used different browsers.. took me 4 hours to finally complete my applicaion, now i need to do my wife's, time I will never get back
Who ever is in charge of sign off on this crap needs to be fired and if India wants a tourist industry it better pull its finger out as this is going to switch people completely off
You're in for a very nasty experience ahead, prepare yourself
Now you'd think that India would make this website for visa applications really slick, smooth and smart. But sadly (and ironically, considering that India boasts the biggest programmer industry on the planet) it is the opposite case.
This website is 100% without a doubt the very worst made site I've encountered in 30 years of browsing. It feels like a school kids 8th grade first web project, and the group were badly dyslexic and partially blind too.
Clunky would be a complimentary word for it, and ridden with bugs, errors and crashes would sum it up.
I'm an IT expert, and it took me 9 attempts and 3 hours of time to fill out 4 small pages of information and upload 2 files. This would normally take 10 minutes on any other website.
They even expect you to upload your passport pages in under 300KB!!! omg, what planet are these programmers living on? And it crashed 3 times while trying to upload the file. Tried with different browsers, makes no difference.
Even the payment screen is a disaster and fails frequently. I clicked on "paypal" but the system then diverts you to Sbi-pay instead. So you have to divert it back to paypal, which seems to be the only one that actually works.
What a disgrace for the Indian government.
Would give it zero if I could
Would give it zero if I could. I need to make 4 tourist visas, the site keeps crashing after inputting data on a page without even giving me the chance to save. It will probably take 2 days to complete the 4 applications.
Indian e-visa online
Applied for a 1 year tourist e-visa online on Sunday 30th Nov 2025 from the U.K. still not received.
The 72hrs/3day turnaround is not correct, because I’m still waiting for my visa.
Suppose to be flying out today in the evening from Saudi Arabia.
Previously I’ve gone through VFS Global and it’s not been a problem getting a visa.
Advise for everyone is apply well in advance or pay the extra and go through VFS Global
Why let the Indian government make money when their system is a failure and a complete embarrassment which they are not bothered about.
DO NOT USE THE ONLINE SERVICE IF YOU NEED A VISA URGENTLY
It really should be updated, it looks like it was written for internet explorer in 1995
Have used the E-Visa portal for several years and its always been hit and miss, very clunky and repetative and getting so far before you receive a "some error has occured" and have to start the process over
However, this year its been worse than ever and now its failing to take payment, making you wait 15 minutes before trying again, its really frustrating after 5 times, for a Country which prides itself on its programming accumen, its website is a real let down
Disappointed and Frustrated
Unfortunately, I can’t write a comment with zero star so forced to put 1 star. I am shocked to how slow and inefficient the VISA process takes and the best part, nobody can help you the reply is always, just wait. The website says approximately 72 hours to get approval. I am waiting for more than 15 days for my 13 yr old daughter’s e-VISA. Had to miss the flight split the family just because someone in the process is not doing their job.The Mahakumbh hosted 450 million people. World news. I wondering how was the VISA approved for so many people then, and now my little girl’s VISA is still processing. I thought India has no manpower issue! I thought they were IT experts ! I am utterly shocked to know that a simple task can take a very long time to get a response and nobody takes accountability.
