IMA Motorwerke failure to repair my 944 Turbo S
I brought my vehicle to IMA Motorwerke on May 11, 2026, with three specific concerns: engine smoke beneath the car after the vehicle sat for several days, oil visible underneath the vehicle near the oil-pan area, and poor handling/alignment. I specifically asked that the oil pan gasket be inspected because I believed it could be a source of the leak.
Over two visits, IMA Motorwerke retained my vehicle for approximately 36 days. I paid a total of $3,986.93 for three repair services, including replacement of multiple engine seals: the crankshaft seal, intermediate shaft seal, camshaft rear seal, auxiliary shaft seal, and lower balance shaft cover seal; these repairs did not correct the oil leak or the engine-smoke problem. The alignment/handling issue also remained unresolved after two attempts.
Throughout the process, I repeatedly asked whether the oil pan had been inspected and ruled out as the source of the leak. I was told that it had been checked and was not leaking. After the vehicle had been in IMA’s possession for approximately 34 days, I was told that the oil pan was in fact leaking and that it would cost an additional $1,700 to repair.
The fact that I identified the oil pan as a possible source of the leak before repairs began, repeatedly requested that it be inspected, and was repeatedly assured it was not leaking raises serious concerns regarding the adequacy of IMA Motorwerke’s diagnostic process and business practices.
IMA also made two unsuccessful attempts to correct the alignment. I was then told that additional suspension camber bolts were needed and, according to my verbal communication and documentation, that I would be charged only for the parts—not additional labor. When I later received an estimate that included labor, I questioned it. IMA denied the prior commitment, declined to do further work on my vehicle, and instructed me to retrieve it immediately.
I also experienced significant communication problems. Numerous calls, voicemails, and emails seeking updates were seldom answered. I submitted two written complaints to the owner and did not receive a response or acknowledgment. IMA declined to reimburse me for repairs I believe did not fix the problems and declined to honor their warranty.
