I've been using PDF Editor for many years now. I like it. It's easy to use, does what I want it for, performs well, and works reliably. I've contacted Support a couple of times over the years, about... See more

I lost my license key, reached out to the support team and immediately got feedback. My issue was then resolved. Polite, Professional and Timely. Lovely tech support team. Great App!
I contacted their technical support team with an issue I was having and they quickly responded and identified the solution.
I was pleased with the timely response.
Why the low rating?
Firstly I must state that I have not even tried their software.
I was looking for a software tool that I needed and started browsing various sites, and from there started to narrow down my choices by reading reviews.
One statement from Icecream was the deal-breaker.
"Hello Hannes,
Thank you for the feedback. Your order was placed in August 2016. According to our logs, you are still actively using our screen recording program. The license is indeed lifetime."
What does that tell me?
It tells me that Icecream software is always 'reporting home', back to Icecream, what it's software is doing.
I have been using, and programming, computers since the 1990's, from the dinosaur times of MS-DOS to the introduction of MS Windows, object orientated programming, and eventually the internet.
Since the beginning I have been a follower of Zimmerman's PGP and I take my personal information and privacy very seriously.
I find it egregious and offensive that software that's been installed on a personal device reports home.
Software can check for updates, or send crash reports (if permitted), but it should *never be monitoring what the user is doing, unless the end-user has been explicitly told such.
For that reason alone I won't touch their software, even if it were free.

I decided to write a review for Icecream apps and PDF Candy and give 1 star based on my experience with them in the last 1 year. As such I do not want to do a negative review and would have preferred not to review at all and ignore as already there is so much negativity and conflicts in the world. But I feel it will be helpful to all those who might make the mistake of buying the products of Icecream apps and wasting money and time. Had I read the reviews and understood the situation, it would have saved my hundreds of dollars. Generally such reviews are flagged by vendors and asked to be deleted but I will try. Read on -
I deducted 1 star for each negative experience.
1. DEFINITELY NOT LIFETIME - limited updates and support: Their software products receive updates for a little while and suddenly they ask for a new license and gives the error your existing license is no longer supported. This is entirely different from smartphone apps. When contacting the support about this, they say that for the old version of the software the license is lifetime. For example, I also bought their Video Editor and it was a lifetime license, but just after a three months it became invalid. For every such thing the developer needs to be contacted which needs filling form on their website and reply takes time. So INEFFICIENT and frustrating. What if the Windows OS upgrades and loses s backwards compatibility or those programs which have not been updated show errors and don't work well. Icecream apps is not going to update it. It barely lasts for five years after five months of updates, on a single device, not fifty years, definitely not lifetime. Not one bit
2. DEVICE LIMITATION: The so called lifetime licenses are valid for the device on which they have been activated and migration is generally not allowed and requires to contact their support and is done on a case by case basis. But one does not uses one device for a lifetime.
3. CRUDE SUPPORT: I would not say their support is abusive or unprofessional or incompetent. But it is very COLD, UNHELPFUL AND UNCOMPROMISING. For example, they would just copy and paste their EULA (End User License Agreement). Replies are short and mostly they simply 'refuse' for anything against their terms. I am not getting any reply after i raised a ticket because my PDF Candy license is now invalid for newer version and I want to activate the older version (just like they say) on my new second Laptop (it is a two device license) but their is no link to download the older version. So I decided to write this review to help others.
4. APPS ARE JUST OK: The apps themselves, while being quite expensive, and perhaps pretty and simple, are also very limited in what they can do and sometimes they don't work well and don't give desired results. They are certainly like a sour but outwardly attractive pop sugar candy, the apps are so simple like have been made for children, but the bitter experience comes when one realizes that behind pretty apps the people are ugly and this makes it more bitter. For example, I also bought their EPUB Reader where I found problem rendering books and few lines were below the lower limit of the display panel and always lost, and after a lot of effort I could get refund for it. Free apps were all rendering it perfectly fine, available on Microsoft Store like FB Reader and Freda. Similarly with other apps like I had to go to other apps when PDF Candy did not give the desired result, and similarly with Image resizer, the PDF Editor is nothing as good as those from other vendors available at a cheaper price like Mobi Systems or UPDF and so on. These are pretty but functionality wise not good.
5. MOST IMPORTANT - KIND OF SCAMMY AND MISLEADING: I was drawn to their apps from a YouTube sponsorship. Before buying i asked them via email - 'Does lifetime license includes lifetime updates?'. They replied: 'So far the license keys of the Icecream Apps include further updates '. Soon after buying when I one again asked about updates they copy and pasted their EULA which basically means keys valid for the program version currently available and they may or may not provide updates. Further, they run all in one package on their website at sale with a timer but the timer resets all the time and the sale is not a sale or a limited time offer as it is always there and misleads customers into buying their software and wasting their money.
Alternatives: Their are very many far better and even outstanding alternatives from various vendors across the world which are totally opposite and so much better, and the support treats their customers like a family. One only needs to do some research and avoid being taken by the sense of urgency and doing that dreaded digital-online transaction, after which one will only have to repent as it is irreversible and the loss is permanent
Nice app, very easy to use. I liked that I bought pro version "forever". When I changed the laptop the App support team helped me to move the license key to the new device.
Fantastic app, and very easy to use. Excellent post purchase support from Apps team as well.
Customer service was super helpful- solved my issue pretty fast. Friendly and professional.
The screen recorder was great until nothing was working anymore.
1. At some point I could not upload anything to the cloud.
2. I asked them and they answered rarely. They were investigating for 1 month the issue :)
3. They told me that they had a cloud limit of max 500 videos and I have reached this. I did not know about it.
They told me that I violated their policy and indeed, I changed PC and forgot to remove the software from old one.
But they are not helpful for a product that I paid for and it is a pity not to be customer oriented. And after 1 month I have not gotten any solution and have now to pay for a software like Zight that I like less.
Due to a hard drive crash I lost my Screen Recorder App. As the license had already been used, I couldn’t re-activate the newly downloaded app.
After explaining my problem, the Icecream App Support Team promptly responded and reset the license key.
Excellent service.
This company sells their 'lifetime' video editer licence code twice and stops updating and forces you to buy another license otherwise you cant get the updates anymore.
i bought a lifetime license. and now they stopped updating after 2.0 so if you want a update you have to buy another license code. This is a scam.

Icecream Screen Recorder 7 is an awesome program; very easy to use, with great features. The team helped me to recover my lost activation key after my PC was hacked. I bought the PRO version for life.
I have been using their software (PDF Split & Merge - PRO) for quite a few years now, and it always works without fail. I have changed computers a couple of times along the way, and their support group have made it very easy to transfer the PRO licences each time. I have also arranged for co-workers to get their own PRO licences, and they also love it.
I definitely recommend their software.
Years ago I purchase a life subscription of the icecream book reader. Since then whenever I have a problem the customerservice helps me out almost immediately.
Many thanks to the company for helping to restore the PRO-version when the operating system was reinstalled on my computer. The excellent software for editing PDF-files!
Fast feedback and action.
Maybe the fastest customer service I ever had.
I have been using it since 2018 and am pleased with the results of the program. Several times I had to reinstall the operating system on the laptop. After that, I reinstalled the program and was required to enter a license code. Each time I contacted technical support and they responded with lightning speed. Huge thanks to the team!
Don't make the mistake, it is not lifetime.
You are not allowed to update to the latest version, you are stuck with the version you buy. Mine is from 2016.
This is not standard practice; upgrades are generally included unless stated otherwise which they didn't indicate.
You suck
