A 3 night stay incl Dinner, Bed & Breakfast
2nd-5th Aug 2024 at IbisStyles Birmingham NEC -
Arranged by Caledonian Travel for attending Silverstone Racing Circuit, so a long way to commute each day.
But ideal for Birmingham airport and NEC.

PROS:
Staff polite and friendly.
Breakfast good, dinner: okay, little bit slow refilling food trays.
Good range of drinks at the bar, prices average for a hotel.
Mattress was good.
Linen fine.
Bathroom/shower good.

CONS:
Room key gets deactivated every time you leave the hotel, no one told us and no notification of that in the room, ours also deactivated while in the hotel 3 times in 24 hours even with a replacement card.
Carpet a bit worse for wear.
Very thin pillows and no extra in room.
Not enough dining tables, very slow to be cleared.
Very little clothes space, live out the case.

Did auto check in as advised by email the night before arrived to find a queue at 2.55pm. Given a miserable dark room at the back overlooking a service yard with a tiny window. The room was very dark with very little natural day light. Absolutely certain we booked breakfast when we paid bookingcom 8 days before. However receptionist said not and further took my cc details for payment again even though bookingcom had deducted the amount a week before. Booked a table at the in house Ma-he restaurant. Was left waiting 14 mins being totally ignored by staff in favour of larger tables. When waitress arrived
She advised food would take some time to arrive. Decided to leave staff uninterested.
All in all very poor- terrible experience have future dates booked and now cancelled as have found a much better venue where we have stayed before.

SPA FACILITIES at the Ibis Styles, Paignton.
I was greeted by Mel in a warm friendly manner which immediately put me at ease. The environment was peaceful and relaxing making me even more eager for the treatments I had booked.
Mel was fantastic with her massage and reflexology explaining my health problems after, which she can tell just from your feet. Refreshments were provided and feeling so relaxed and zenned out I just didn't want to leave. Oh if only my bed was there next to me....I have had these treatments before and I rate this experience as one of the better ones, I will definitely book again when back in the area.
I totally recommend to take the opportunity for some me time with Mel and her colleagues as it is well worth it.

I stayed for 1 night in the Ibis Styles NEC last week and was charged triple a normal IBIS stay for a single night. My room had no window handle, a hole in the sheet and the mattress was so old and lumpy it was not possible to have a good nights sleep. In the morning I found a pill in the bed that must have belonged to a previous person who had had the misfortune to stay in this room. The room felt tired and shabby. I have sent a complaint to IBIS and have had no response. This IBIS is next to the NEC and it is embarrassing that such a shoddy hotel should represent the UK in an area that attracts international guests.
