Protecting People And Places my **** Uninterested and powerless. A shadow of what they used to be

Had I read these reviews first I would not have wasted considerable time and effort over the course of 2 years constantly pursuing this disorganisation for updates.
I reported a serious gas leak caused by kitchen fitters who it transpired were not Gas Safe registered. I provided HSE with photographic and expert witness evidence yet they closed their sham of an ‘investigation’ three times without informing me they had done so let alone provide any explanation. I had to fight to have this reopened each and every time and was appalled to learn they had not made basic enquiries, admitting that they “could have done more”
I took this all the way to complaint level only to learn that the individuals concerned would receive a warning not to do this again. In my experience HSE are as many others have said A COMPLETE WASTE OF PUBLIC FUNDS.

Disgraceful

Did absolutely nothing about a person illegally working and damaging motorcycles out of a motorbike dealership and trader, they are not doing anything and not doing their job. Absolute disgrace. They could have signposted me where to get help but did nothing. What are they paid for l, it’s tax payers money and they are not doing anything?

Appalling Lack of Interest

As a responsible member of the public and with a background of 40 years in Health and Safety I called the HSE Leeds to report an extremely dangerous operation in York I observed this afternoon. Scaffolders were removing scaffolding from the front of a large hotel and literally hundreds of pedestrians were walking underneath in a constant flow. No signage or alternative route was in place. The drop of a screw gun or coupling could kill somebody below.

The HSE had no interest in taking on board any of what I had to report. They just told me to go on line and fill in a form. I was walking, on my phone, reporting on a major danger to the public, no where near a computer or place to do as was instructed. I was trying to be a good citizen and drawing on my experience to avoid a major accident.

If this is how the HSE in Leeds now operates I suggest they are closed down, and looking at the reviews on Trustpilot that is further evidence they have totally lost their way. Time for action Mr Starmer.

Very unprofessional organisation

I filled in the form on the HSE website, having waited for a response, unfortunately it was only half answered on a quite important aspect. I resubmitted giving the reference number asking for further information, after another long wait they had totally ignored my request, asking me to fill in a form for the 3rd time.
Totally incompetent, absolute waste of time, obviously a Friday afternoon attitude. Very unprofessional personnel probably just using preselected script and not engaging brain.

No point to the HSE

The HSE have published guidance on Cattle and public access in England and Wales. The guidance if followed would mean the persons affected including farmers and HSE and Councils would be covered by legislation as to show no wrong doing.

Why then does this body ignore the guidance it publishes? Why can't it be bothered to check and er enforce which is it's role?

As others have said the regulators whether HSE, LGSCO, Legal Ombudsman, Property Ombudsman, FCA or any Ombudsman are not functioning and are a waste of taxpayer money. They are seen to be doing but do very little. At Tier three of their pathetic complaints process, it puts people at risk of accessing Public rights of way.

Rather than complain here, we must direct a change to government and the tin pot gods who have created this dire situation which arose from the 1980s under Thatcher whose soft touch regulation was required to allow self regulation and the future of private companies in the public sector.

Nothing works in this body and it causes risks.

Amoral Organisation

A lazy, incompetent and absolutely pointless organisation. Completely ignoring serious health and safety issues affecting employees, vulnerable adults and the general public. Disgusting ethics.

As many have said

As many have said, totally biased and a complete waste of time and resources.
Building Developer reported for numerous breaches of Health and Safety issue’s, photographs and video evidence which clearly showed dangerous practices taking place neither looked at or considered.
Standard response, we’ve reminded the Developer of there responsibilities.
As long as they get a fee they couldn’t care less. Not fit for purpose.

Needed to contact HSE for some related chemical handling advice. The only way you can contact them is online form submission which they DON'T respond to. The telephone number has been down with "technical difficulties" for several days. Yet another tax payer funded government department which is totally useless.

Disgrace of an organisation

Disgrace of an organisation, defend people with a proven history of making fabricated allegations against companies, certainly live up to there well known name as the biggest joke in Europe. Totally biased and unaccountable for there actions should be closed down. Only interested in using there Little scam called Fee for intervention to extract money from businesses. Not surprised the country is on it's knees with this lot.

Whether it’s HSE

Whether it’s HSE, the Local Government Ombudsman or the Charity Commission, the regulatory framework is broken.
If you’ve ever wondered why standards of service, neglect and risk to the public are so prevalent, try dealing with these three bodies.

HSE - utterly useless

HSE - once again prove themselves to be completely and utterly useless. They bend over backwards not to inspect workplaces (construction sites) that are reported, after providing photographic and video evidence of dangerous scaffolding operations, eg throwing scaffolding poles down into an area not restricted from public access, workers on loose boards at 5 meter height without fall protection, access ladders having been removed, the HSE were happy to let it go because they talked to the company who agreed to follow best practice. Yeh - likely now they know nothing happens when they put themselves and others at risk. We might as well close down the HSE altogether as they are not fit for purpose. I recall Lord Cullen speaking of the HSE inspections of Piper Alpha “superficial to the point of being meaningless” - just the same decades later. Complete waste of time and money, confirmed by people who have worked for them

Dreadful waste of public funds

Don’t bother contacting the HSE with proactive H&S they seem only interested in re active H&S.We have all the evidence and footage required to present to the New Minister responsible for this department.
We will challenge ,what we see as lapse in public health & safety by the so called experts in their field - Call staff very helpful and professional so apologies to you guys for the dreadful review and ratings

Investigations are based on hearsay evidence and not factual. Many more Grenfell tower fire incidents will continue to occur linked to HSE failures to do investigations based on evidence of fact and not instruct expert opinions signed with statements of truth

the H.S.E has become just like most if not all of the currupt Government departments and is now simply a revenue collection service with their own laws. The term 'health and saftey' is nothing more than a cover to justify their false invoices just to raise cash.
After these last dealings with the H.S.E. has run its course, I will no longer be engaging or co-operating with them in any way regardless of the law.

Lazy HSE…

I sent several messages to the HSE asking them to investigate Gas Safe, and negligence within Gas Safe, however, the HSE are worryingly not interested at all and just fob me off with an email address for Gas Safe. This lazy attitude is why companies get away with damaging peoples lives and I expected better things from the HSE. Disappointingly the HSE are lazy.

Causing vans to slam brakes on and swerve to avoid
This was over a 4-5 day period.

Response was, "we have tried to contact the people responsible, who said it wasn't them. And we are unable to find out who it is"

Complete waste of time

Complete waste of time, I really wish we could vote to defund this agency and sack the lot, they are a mindless bunch of drones who have never experienced a single iota of concern for the safety of their fellow human beings in their lives, only for petty bureaucracy. Hoping the HSE will protect you from a dangerous employer/work environment is like expecting a condom to protect you from a rapist.
