Finally, screen-free time that doesn't feel like a chore for me too
We've been using House of Heroes for a few weeks now and it's genuinely changed our evenings. I'm not a natural storyteller, so the fact that the scripts are ready to just read aloud — no prep, no winging it — made this actually sustainable instead of a "great idea for one week then we quit" thing.
What surprised me is how invested my kid got. It's not passive listening — they're making choices that shape what happens, so they're actually leaning in instead of asking when it's over. New adventures drop every week and they connect to an ongoing story, so there's a reason to come back rather than it feeling like a one-off activity.
It's become our wind-down ritual instead of screen time, and honestly the 20-30 minutes we spend on it are some of the best of the day. Worth it for the bonding alone
