Disappointing
Our room was charmless and unwelcoming with a window overlooking an untidy courtyard belonging to the hotel next door.
In the room there were no instructions for anything, the aircon was not operating and the wall a/c control panel had no effect, the fridge operated at only a fraction below room temperature, the safe was at floor level in a dark corner with several keys too worn to read (therefore unusable). The TV operation was a total mystery (it took management an hour in our room to find a channel in English). The bathroom was clean, but, unusually, the shower was over the central part of the bath with no screen or curtain to prevent flooding of the bathroom floor (hence we could not use it). One bedside light waggled loose from the wall when touched and the other bedside light kept going off and then back on again of its own accord, suggesting an electrical fault. We often found the fusebox door open (on the wall near the room door). My wife and I therefore had some concerns about electrical safety in that room. Corridor carpets were worn and stained. The hotel seemed tired and in need of renovation.
Breakfast was reasonable and staff at breakfast and in reception were polite and friendly. Apart from a small lounge/reception area, the hotel had little else to offer.
On the whole, it was quite disappointing considering the room cost us £475 for two mid-week nights, 7th & 8th May 2025 (plus £21.50 local tax). We would not choose to stay at the Bernina again.
