In the blind and shutter industry, the name Hopkins has been synonymous with quality, innovation and service since the 1750s. Our family has been in the trade for generations, first known for manufacturing brassware for blind-makers, and later supplying parts for both roller and Venetian blinds right through to the 1960s. Over the years, we quietly built a reputation for precision, reliability and solving tricky problems that others couldn’t. But our legacy goes beyond blinds. During WWII, under the name William Hopkins & Sons, the family business manufactured and supplied parachute buckles to Irvin Air Chutes – life-critical parts used across the Allied forces. After the war, the company was sold, and our engineering expertise helped shape the modern seatbelt clasp still used in aircraft today. In 1974, Richard Hopkins – our current MD Alex’s father – re-launched the blinds and shutter business from scratch, bringing the family back to its roots with a new focus on bespoke fittings and specialist problem-solving. Hopkins quickly became what many in the trade still know us as today: the place to call when others say it can’t be done. In 2005, Alex stepped in, just 24 at the time, after Richard’s unexpected death. Today, Alex runs the business, continuing the Hopkins tradition of ingenuity, craft and care, while pushing the company forward with new ideas, new systems, and ambitious growth. We now carry one of the world’s most extensive selections of parts and products for traditional and contemporary blinds and shutters. If you're looking for a part that’s a little bit different from the norm, or if you’ve got a design problem that needs solving, Hopkins is the place to come. We’re still trusted for heritage and traditional blind systems in buildings like Windsor Castle, but we also engineer modern, high-performance systems for superyachts, observatories, film and TV sets, and cutting-edge architectural projects. The weirder and more complex the brief, the more likely it’s a Hopkins job. Looking to the future... We’re now developing The Hopkins System: a complete range of engineered, high-performance solutions, built on 270 years of craft, innovation and problem-solving. We use the latest technology, backed by centuries of know-how, to deliver solutions that just work. And we still believe in offering value, quality and outstanding service — especially to those with the most demanding requirements. D Get in touch We’ve been solving tricky blinds and shutter problems for over 270 years, whether it’s a missing part or a complex project. Get in touch — we’ll help you figure it out.

Feel let down by Hopkins Fittings

I feel let down by Hopkins.

My experience started off so well, I made an enquiry about a product and they offered to create customised version. I gladly expected and paid extra for upgraded materials and labour to cover the work.

The part arrived, but was very poorly made, not good at all. I sent a photo, and the company got back to me, agreed there as assembly error and that the person responsible had now left the company. They requested I return the faulty item and sent me a replacement. I did this and quickly recieved the replacement which I was happy with.

I then requested they reimburse me for the cost of returning the faulty item back to them, at which point they completely ignored me. I sent it back "recorded delivery" to insure they received it and have confirmation that they did.

If they had had the courtesy to at least reply I would probably forgiven them a few pounds. But they did not even care to explain, or justify why.

I don't see why after purchasing an expensive item, that I should pay for their error in manufacture. Very disappointing that they didn't have courage to explain themselves.
