FRAUDULENT COMPANY. PLEASE AVOID!!!!!

This company is unethical and fraudulent. They doubled their price and automatically billed my credit card $1188 from $588 the previous year. When I reached out to the company on April 12th about the charge on my credit card on March 5th they offered to give me a 2 month discount or to refund my money. They also stated they sent out two emails notifying me of the increase. They did not because I never delete business emails. I have every email from them since 2021 when I joined. This is clearly theft. When I chose to have them refund my money I was then told they were unable to issue a refund because 30 days had passed since they charged my credit card. I am sure Lesley was aware of this when she initially offered me a refund. If you check your account there isn't an option to remove the credit card they have on file. You can update the information, but you cannot remove your credit card information. Essentially once they get your credit card information they hold it hostage. I would AVOID this company at all costs because this is fraudulent behavior. I have notified my bank and my attorney and we are pursuing legal channels to get my refund issued. I am a physician and am in a profession governed by ethics and I will not let a company blatantly steal funds from me. I never issue reviews but I want to help anyone else I can to avoid being victimized by this company. I definitely believe this is going to be a class action lawsuit by the number of complaints here. I can only imagine the number of people victimized who did not leave a review. If you have been victimized by this company please notify your credit card company, the FTC and an attorney.

Avoid - £2500 Taken Without Authorisation

On Friday when I logged into our Hootsuite account, I received a message to say they would no longer offer a free service. I clicked an option to a pay a discount fee of £8.99 per month for the 'professional package'. This currently advertised in the UK for £89.00 per month. Today (Monday) I received an invoice for £2500.00 and this sum had been taken from our debit card over the weekend(!) No response from the support team yet and no number to call to try and resolve this. We are a small company and this is a huge amount of money to us. Very upset about this, particularly as I assumed this was a larger, reliable and credible company.
EDIT - refund received after 5 days along with an apology, but no explanation on why the wrong amount was taken...

Total inability to get tech support…

Total inability to get tech support through any means after paying $3,000 for enterprise plan. Regular failures to post to instagram and twitter.

They are a scam company

They are a scammy company. Tried to read their customer service, now on a PayPal phone call and disputing the service. They need to stop. Refund me the money now!!!! No answers and I called PayPal to report the fraud. You all will stop scamming people pretty soon!

ZERO Stars Actually

If I could leave less than a 1-star review I would. I have had a free account with Hootsuite for 10+ years and decided to upgrade (because my dashboard said I would lose access if I didn't) to the $9 a month plan, which shoukd have totaled $108 but turned into $1188. My bank alerted me to this charge and I realized that a misrepresentation had occurred. Because I did this transaction through PayPal both my credit card AND checking account were affected and my bank account was overdrawn. I have contacted support, submitted a ticket, left a voicemail on an inbox that goes to no where apparently, etc.

Again, I was sent a promotion to join the professional membership for $107.99 for the year and was charged $1188.00 - thats a big mistake and NO ONE has responded to me!
UPDATE: I would love to reply but I do not know where to reply. I do not want to post my email in this public forum. Where can I be in contact with Hootsuite??

Do NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY - THEY ARE NOT ETHICAL

I would give this company NO star if it was possible! I was sent the a promotion to join the professional membership for $107.99 for the year and was charged $1188.00 - thats a big mistake and NO ONE has responded to my attempts to get this rectified!!! I feel as if I have been robbed!!!!
UPDATE:
Michelle finally processed the refund and was very apologetic. That took way too long. so some employees apparently are doing their job and others are not. it's sad because i was looking forward to doing working with hootsuite but it wasn't meant to be.

Have been charged for a full year after…

Have been charged for a full year after a trial that ended over a year ago. I have not used hootsuite at all in that time, You can’t reach anyone there’s no phone number. They don’t answer correspondence. Don’t trust any promotional emails from them. I’m beyond shocked and disappointed.

Scammers predatory offers

They sent an offer because free accounts are being disappointed. The offer was $9 a month for 1 year. $107.99. But instead they charge $1,188. You can’t reach anyone there’s no phone number. They don’t answer correspondence. Don’t trust any promotional emails from them. I’m beyond shocked and disappointed. I’ve been referring friends and family to them since 2018. What until I tell everyone about this! Never will I ever refer anyone to this company again.

Inability to cancel after having poor scheduling experiences across Instagram and Linkedin

Do not recommend, extremely glitchy and scheduled posts regularly encounter problems in every channel
1. Instagram gets disconnected every week and scheduled posts are not being uploaded
2. LinkedIn content is posted but only 10% of it, cutting off after the first sentence

Customer service is terrible. I was charged the annual fee upfront and it's a rip-off - no discount or refund offered despite the multiple bad experiences.

They take your money without you…

They take your money without you knowing, it took me over 6 months to close my account and they still charge my credit card. The worth software company I worked with. You can even email me and I will provide the proof that they are not ethical when it comes to deleting accounts and downgrade them.

As agreed upon account opening, Hootsuite automatically renews your subscription unless it is canceled or downgraded to a Free plan. This is why you received a charge for your renewal. However, since the account has been canceled now, you will no longer receive future invoices or charges to renew.

Needs Work On Their Subscription Service

Please heed everyone's words here! They will scam you with the costs of their subscriptions! I thought I canceled my account 3 years ago and it wasn't. What I don't understand is how an account that I don't even have access to suddenly doubled in price for this year. Please be careful and get a confirmation of cancelation! This is ridiculous, none of the emails associated with my business doesn't even work!

Update: I have changed my review. After I went through PayPal because I could not figure out which email was used for the account in the first place. They did refund me for this year.

Hootsuite, while simple in its interface, is only moderately easier than setting up your own internal system, and extremely expensive for that purpose. There are frustrating limitations with regard to some implementations (e.g. IG Reels and some scheduling that makes it not as simple as it would ideally be.)

For the cost, there needs to be more plug-in implementations with perhaps Canva, or ChatGPT API to suggest specific content with some automated creation with related hashtags etc. Anything that can fill out a schedule with draft content that can then be reviewed and adapted. More 'paint by numbers'.

Worth the money

Our company is focusing more on social media this year. Hootsuite has been invaluable in moving toward that goal. I am able to calendar, easily move posts to different dates, and analyze what is working well in ordser to improve our audience reach.

Terrible customer support and plan downgrade

Terrible customer support and downgraded plan.

I subscribed a month ago to the Hootsuite plan mostly because I need to benchmark 5 competitors of mine on Twitter.

All was well till I paid for the yearly subscription, and the option was removed for 2 competitors instead.

According to their non-existing customer support, "it is what it is, and we reserve ourselves the right to do it."

I am extremely dissatisfied, and I regret paying the full-year plan.

EDIT: as seen below, this absolute garbage of a company confirms what I said. They sold me one thing and downgraded it afterward.

Stay Well Away

This company is an absolute disgrace, so stay well away. Their customer service is really poor. When it comes time to leave, they make it extremely difficult and continue to charge for a service you don’t want to use any longer. Please do yourself a favour and use another provider.

Update on this: Despite the comments of one of their staff below, it's still not been even slightly resolved to my satisfaction, so stay well clear. I couldn't recommend this company less. They're extremely unethical in so many ways.
