Lists one price per month on its website but charges you nearly double after the trial period ended. I even contacted their customer service after the charge, who were dismissive and completely unhelpful. I just want the difference refunded which they are refusing. Won't be using again and our company will be researching other social media schedulers.

Charged after a cancelled trial period
I had a trial phase with Hootsuite, but I never used any of their features or services at all. 2 months later I get charged the full amount despite cancelling the subscription and not using Hootsuite at all.
I don't recommend even checking out their service.
I'll update this review if I get my refund, until then, stay away.
Edit: They agreed to issue a refund. I will keep you posted once I get my money back.
Edit2: Hootsuite was surprisingly very quick to take care of my dispute. They've given me a full refund.
Hoot suite billing issue
Update. I was contacted by the company and I’m pleased to say that I have received a full refund. Again I’d like to say I have no issues with the software itself just the billing system. I’d like to thank Camilla for the help in this matter.
Beware they took nearly $2000 AUD from my bank account when the free trial ended without so much as an email to notify me. I’ve tried for weeks to contact them with no response. I reported it to my bank and they are chasing it up with hopes of reversing the amount. The worst of it is I was considering a monthly subscription before they debited my bank account.

I am a Social Media student and signed up for Hootsuite’s trial as I thought I might need it for an assignment. A month later, with no warning emails about my account or trial and $200 taken out of my account.
Really hoping to get it refunded as I don’t use the service and am struggling enough as a student but looking at these reviews the chances are slim.
I contacted them instantly for a refund once the money was taken, even before the issued me an invoice. Which seems wrong. They should issue the invoice before the money is taken.
This website clearly doesn’t care about its audience or the industry. Will avoid to use in the future

Je n'ai jamais eu de compte chez Hootsuite : j'ai seulement commencé une inscription que je n'ai jamais finalisé.
Ils ont prélevé 1400€ sur mon compte Paypal sans prévenir et sans mon accord.
Actuellement, Hootsuite refuse de rembourser Paypal, qui me tient donc responsable de leur fournir ce montant.
J'attends que Hootsuite rembourse mon compte Paypal afin de clore ce sujet.

The service is decent. Beware of autopay!
The service is decent, though you'll periodically need to reconnect your social media accounts. HOWEVER, beware of the automatic billing. They don't send a reminder. And no refund once paid. Can't give a good review under those circumstances.

Sneaky about (large) price increase
Echoing a lot of other reviews here.
Feature-wise, similar to other platforms (we switched to Buffer and I actually like it better).
One-star rating, however, for integrity.
We became a paid customer in 2020 for USD 29/mo. Without warning, our price nearly tripled in 2022 to USD 75/mo. I disputed the charge but Hootsuite stonewalled.
So not even 2 years after we subscribed, they thought it a good idea to sneak through a price increase. Again, no warning, at least nothing in-platform and nothing I received via email.

I took a course for a social network certificate for 100 dollars, once I approved the exam, the application didn't give me the certificate, neither allow me to take the exam again, i wrote and talked with support and they doen't even know how to solve it, this is a huge mess, i need my certificate or my money back ASAP, this people is an scam!!! Too expensive
I believe the pricing of this application is excessively high. As a small business owner, I carefully scrutinize every expenditure. The primary cost I incur as a graphic designer is related to application expenses. Interestingly, I currently pay only half the price for the entire Adobe Creative Suite, which includes ten applications, compared to what Hootsuite charges. I've contacted Hootsuite regarding price and they were not interested in working out a more cost effective price for me.
I must express my disappointment that Hootsuite has doubled its price for the same service within the span of a year. Despite this increase, I find it challenging to move away from Hootsuite at this point since a significant portion of my content is already on their platform.
In light of this experience, I strongly advise users to remain cognizant of alternative options and be prepared to switch applications if necessary. Flexibility and preparedness for change are crucial in such situations.

Over doubled the bill for year 2 and no comms
We've used this company for a year and its quite a good platform. We paid £468 in the 1st year. Its just been renewed - No warning at all and they took £1068.00 from our PayPal account. I've queried this with them twice now and they don't respond. I feel its sharp practice not to tell customers what you will charge them in advance and over double the bill from the previous year. Still waiting for a response....

Predatory company
Predatory company. Do not use. Used them for several years until I shut down my business. so I called last year, cancelled my subscription and they refunded me- which is proof I cancelled. I talked to a kind gentleman in the phone and I believed him when he said it was all taken care of since I saw the refund on my credit card bill. They then recharged my account this next year for hundreds more- from 100$ to 600$- and refuse to refund or cancel - saying I haven’t cancelled. The fact they didnt cancel my account on their end after they refunded me is their fault not mine. Because I cancelled my business I have no access to the telephone number or email if the previous business, my website no longer exists to even use any service- and after I called Hootesuite and told someone my problem- they said they would email me a ticket if my concern. (I had to get their telephone number from my credit card because you cannot find one online ). I’ve never received an email weeks later and no one will answer when I call now. Go to better business bureau- there are hundreds of people who have experienced the same story. Im now having to fight the charge on my credit card end and am securing a lawyer as I just know they will try to charge me next year. I have to close down the entire credit card because of this issue. It’s predatory business practice that never ends.

Be careful with Trial period…
If you are on the trial period make sure to put an alert on your own calendar because the platform will never send you any notification when the trial is about to finish and will charge you immediately, which in my case was 490 euros. Very disappointed. I would never recommend!

These people are nothing but thieves.
I downgraded my account to the Free plan before an annual subscription was due and I also removed my payment method which was my business bank card.
Nevertheless, a week later, they STILL took the annual subscription fee of over £1200!
We’ve sent three support messages now and they have all been ignored!
AVOID using this company at all costs.

Their customer service is unresponsive
Their customer service is unresponsive. The excuse given is that they have a large number of support tickets coming in. Well, perhaps if they talked to paying customers voice to voice on the phone, problems would be resolved faster.
They charged us $1300 and I never authorized it or wanted to renew. This is an unacceptable business practice.
They have not gotten back to me yet after requesting a refund.

Incredibly inept at giving support
Incredibly inept at giving support. I have been using Hootsuite for at least 5 years now with free plan, because i have never needed a bigger package.
Now they have decided that the free package can no longer be an option. I can understand the choice, for marketing or whatever but my experience has been very bad: I have found my account unusable as it is only possible to use it with a paid account with no possibility to view all my scheduled posts or drafts!!! The absurdity is that they did not even send a notice advising of the impending change of plan!!
The costumer service does not help at all as they recommend buying the plan to view posts. NO WAY! The way they treat users it's awful, they will never see my account again.
