Our client wanted the assurance that their financial transaction was secure. Love this seamless process.
It's one of the greatest Client Management Tools in my arsenal. It will always be worth it for me.
Honeybook is amazing! As a new business it truly streamlines and automates the process from inquiry, to scheduling call/google meet, to sending off quote, contract and invoice (and collecting payment). From there, you can fully automate next steps leading up to the event. A nice surprise was after having a video call with the potential client I received a document with note highlights and full dictation of the call.
The downside would be somewhat difficult onboarding and setting up of documents (thank you ChatGPT), lack of SMS, lack of sending out attractive emails with photos or formatting like flodesk or mail chimp (can only send attachments).
Just booked my first client today and I have to say, so far the process has been seamless.
HoneyBook Review (From a Long-Time User Turned Fed-Up Business Owner)
I’ve been using HoneyBook for my business for years. When I first signed up, it was $26 CAD/month—and thanks to a promo, I even got it for just $1/month for the first year. Solid deal, right? It helped me get organized, book clients, and keep everything streamlined. I was all in.
Fast forward to now, and that exact same plan is suddenly $178 CAD/month. That’s not just inflation—that’s absurd. The kicker? The only reason we needed the upgraded plan was to add more than two team members. That’s it. We barely use any of the other features they’re trying to charge that much for.
So I made the call: we’re done with HoneyBook for team use. I let my crew know they don’t need to log in or use it anymore. Our Project Coordinator, Kat, already provides everything the DJs need for their gigs, so nothing’s really changing for them. I’m building a simpler, smoother system in-house that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
I used to recommend HoneyBook to every creative business owner I knew. Now? Not so much. If you’re just starting out—or running a tight ship—there are better-value options out there. I still think the platform works, but the pricing no longer does.
Amazing site! Helps me keep track of all the business aspects of running a DJ Business! I love HoneyBook!
I don't love this platform. its complicated, hard to use and accepted a payment from a client that I didn't authorize. I was told there is no way to move the payment button from invoices despite not wanting to accept CC's for my business. I'm a business of one person and don't have to ability to absorb cc fees right now. an expensive mistake that I won't be making again. I will look for a more simple platform for the future.
Payments don't work and the error clients are getting is "There was an unexpected issue" which customer support had no idea of what and why is it.. I cancelled my membership and got the money back and Stripe, quick books, square are the places for invoices not HB they have to get a long way. I lost $700 because of these idiots.
I am loving it so far! It has everything I need and MORE! I am still learning to use it but it's very easy to do so. I am so excited to level up my business!
This company has been working on upgrades that are very helpful and ideal for small business owners. They are being very comucative. Always sharing details and information on all the improvements and offering webinars and online help if needed. Listening to us clients needs have been the key to their success.
Has streamlined my business and helped me grow as a small business owner! From email contact forms that easily integrate on my website, to client email, to invoicing, to banking, to expense tracking, it's seriously the best investment.
Hard for clients to make payments and harder to move around the app. Still not aure if money is being deposited in my account or if i need to take it out. Payment cleared but still not in my account. Payment was done over a week ago. Waste of money dont use
Wish list:
More flexible payment options, including donation only and Venmo links.
A more modifiable service offering, so I can leave out cost.
An easy way to make a smart file or even a template into a lead form without having to cut and paste everything.
A once loved tool has been ruined by AI.
I signed up for Honeybook when it first launched several years ago. It was perfect and worked amazingly for about 3 years. However, Honeybook has rapidly gone downhill in recent years. Every element I once loved has been altered to make the experience less user friendly and more time consuming. The platform is now riddled with endless "updates" that seem to come out of nowhere and make zero sense. I feel like AI has been let loose to make "improvements" with no real user testing. Every update has major bugs and causes things not to work properly. They are constantly "fixing" things that are not broken, randomly repositioning items making them harder to find. Former one click actions become more complicated and require several actions to complete.
The "smart files" lack key elements that make them unusable, like negative line items for discounting individual items. I still us legacy files for this reason, but fear those will disappear soon too.
Customer support is not knowledgable and it seems to require several interactions before they even understand what the issue is.
Sadly, switching CRMs is a large undertaking so if you have not signed up yet, I'd find something different before you get stuck here.
I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews, but what HoneyBook has done is inexcusable. As a long-time customer, I was abruptly locked out of my account for no clear reason—and left completely in the dark for over six days. Support was non-existent. No replies. No urgency. Nothing.
As a business owner, this kind of negligence is not just frustrating—it’s damaging. I couldn’t access my clients, contracts, invoices, or critical documents. The platform I trusted to help me run my business essentially became a roadblock to it.
This experience taught me a hard lesson: always back up your data elsewhere. HoneyBook has proven to be completely unreliable.
After two years of loyalty, I will never use their services again—especially not with their tone-deaf price hikes. I strongly advise fellow business owners to look elsewhere. Don’t put your business in the hands of a platform that goes silent when you need them most.
I had a hard time with payment process, it is taking too long.
Also my clients struggled with being Able to sing documents
I knew that I needed to change my plan for paying the annual fee because of financial hardship and I reached out a month ago to a representative who confirmed and changed my plan to the monthly fee instead of all upfront. Well lo and behold here we are May 5th and $516.27 was taken out of my account for the yearly fee. I’m incredibly disappointed and want a refund immediately.
Personally, I think the rate is too high. Overall I like the ease of use on HB, however, they keep making changes to "better" the platform which only adds more work for me in sending emails, schedule links and so forth. The AI note feature from phone calls is nice, but I wish for the price they would take their users requests seriously so the platform would save me time rather than just be great for organizational purposes.
