HMV Warrington Cheshire

What a total DREADFUL store!
Having used the store before the company went bust a few years ago and having worked in a HMV store many years ago, I thought I would go and take a look how they look now.
The audio playing in the store was dreadful. The input to the amplifier was too high and distorted and they had turned down the amplifier volume making a decent track sound dreadful. I mentioned to the scruffy looking eco warrior HOBO type scruff behind the counter (I must of obviously got him on a bad day when his delivery of a sense of humour had not arrived) stating for a record store your audio sounds really S.H.I.T. Burger King down the road has a really good one for a burger bar.
Well WOKE or what. The idiot nearly cried...don't swear at me. It was totally pathetic. A male of his age and status in the store, it turns out he is the manager!!! Should be more resilient to a bit of criticism regarding an in store issue. I left the product and left telling him he was a horrible hobo and before I could go any further stating anything else he called for the shopping Ctr security. Well bang goes a big order for my radio station for Cd's from HMV to upgrade the 50000 tracks we have. I am also now running BOYCOTT adverts on the hour every hour before the news to boycott this dire managers store.
HMV...Should watch out or it might fold AGAIN with dreadful so called ''Managers'' like this one.
No reply from HMV will be taken from here.
As far as I'm concerned Ya can DO ONE!

bad staff

I went in today and a staff member shouted at me saying ‘put that back where you found it’ i also work in retail so i can understand the annoyance of doing place backs but shouting at a young girl half your age is never okay.. i also picked up the cd from where i found it and this man then questioned me when i put it down… Terrible customer services left my mum raging

HMV.

I purchased an iron-on transfer from HMV Cheltenham, which is around 30 miles from my home. The item cost around £2.00. It was found to be defective. I wasn't planning a 60 mile round trip to Cheltenham, in the immediate future, and some of HMV's phone contacts are premium rate numbers, which I refused to call for such a small amount!
So I posted the item back to the store, together with a copy of my receipt and a cover note. The envelope was correctly addressed and stamped on the reverse side with my address. Nothing.
I had almost forgotten about it until I came across an HMV card in my desk. I tried the HMV Customer Support chat line this time.
Outcome: no help.
By the way, I hadn't asked for my money back, just a replacement.
One wonders how much it would have cost HMV to rise to the occasion and acted kindly and generously. But no, they'd rather lose a good customer and court bad publicity. They have achieved both.

Abysmal customer service

They're on unless something goes wrong. Don't expect any help at all. They consistently ignore emails, are argumentative and completely unhelpful. How they stay in business I'll never know.

The worst company I have ever had to…

The worst company I have ever had to deal with when, when something goes wrong. A package went missing on 22nd November - the tracking shows it reached Tokyo Airport, then nothing. Up to this point I have spent a few thousand pounds with them (¥328,000 in total), so not a new customer. I have contacted them repeatedly to either replace or refund me and they refuse to do anything.

I will never shop with them again, after this experience.

International buyers: avoid this business.

HMV Japan is a legitimate store, operated by a big company called Lawson Entertainment. They have a large selection of music at good prices, and run promotions all the time. Unfortunately, their service is horrible. Their website is difficult to navigate.
They take FOREVER to despatch your order, even if your item is in stock. They do not accept PayPal from international buyers. The absolute worst part: they use inferior packaging! I ordered several CDs recently and my jaw dropped when I got them and saw they had been shipped in a flimsy ENVELOPE! I immediately contacted CS to complain about this and their bizarre response, in very poor/broken English, was that they CANNOT ship CDs in a box because it "takes long time". Ridiculous !!! I've decided to stop ordering from them. I don't like how slow their service is. I don't want fragile items shipped in envelopes. And I cannot communicate with people who speak very little English. I wonder if their CS agents use translation tools because their responses are always poorly worded, grammatically incorrect and even nonsensical. I've also used YesAsia and CDJapan. I've never had communication problems with them! And they also ship stuff well protected in boxes!! My advice to you is: avoid HMV Japan.

Long lead time

Normally, it takes more than a week to fulfill the order (Be it 3 CDs or 10 CDs), then 1 more week to despatch it. Back to back at least 2weeks lead time. When you contact the customer service, it is always the same reply that they are very busy and seek customer’s patience and understanding. So be extra super-patient otherwise give it amiss.

Great website.

I found hmv.co.jp not long ago and was skeptical about buying used items from them but it ended up being great! I buy a lot of albums (CDs) and usually buy from Gmarket but I found hmv's used items section which was full of albums in ''A'' condition for 5$ and less. I ended up buying 23 albums for a total of ~130$ shipped. I got my order in a few days, and since I paid on average 3$ per album (instead of 25$+) I expected some damage but everything was in 10/10 condition. I couldn't believe it. They're all like new! They also packaged everything very well and each album was put in a plastic sleeve to protect them from scratches. Only con I can think of is that they sometimes recalculate shipping after you paid, since they don't have the exact weight of the items.. When I paid my order was 110$ but they recalculated and it ended up 130$, so be careful with that. But except that they're great, I'll definitely buy from them again!
