Things have changed

Meh is what I'd describe the current experience for Hivelocity as. There's been a bunch of leadership turnover and changes in the past year or so, and you can kind of feel it as a customer.

Support is still responsive and quick to answer tickets, but it feels more corporate now and almost as if the support guys are just doing their own thing.

If you're looking for bare metal and they have a good deal in a server location that you want, go for it. You'll probably be fine. But I'm also keeping an eye on other options these days, which wasn't something I was doing a year ago.

Still rating it 4 stars because objectively the service works and nothing is actually broken. Just... not what it used to be.

So very good indeed from a technical…

So very good indeed from a technical standpoint and the support offered.

I use Hivelocity to run a validator for a blockchain and have not had a single issue over the last six months.

Highly recommended.

Network experience in nyc has changed

It appears that latency has gone up has changed from where it was there used to be a lot more direct appearing sessions to Nyiix and Decix those appeared to have disappeared then I get told that my server was moved I was never notified and it was down for multiple hours. I was hoping that a few months would show things back to normal but it appears that it has not. I had great low latency to other networks less than 2ms and now it appears to be around 12-17ms higher. Finally I found out that the 7 teleport facility has been migrated away from and the servers I had moved to another facility orangeburg?

Excellent Service and Reliability!

I've been using Hivelocity Data Center for our company's colocation services for two years now, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From the start, their team was professional, knowledgeable, and always available to answer any questions we had about the process.

Horrible expericee.

We have earned a horrible experience with their service. They terminated our 4 dedicated servers instantly for abuse complain. We have not got any databack. We have faced many problems for this. We have spent a huge amount of money handling this data issue with our client, approximately 5 lac BDT, we have faced some legal case issue and we have lost our business reputation, which is of unlimited value.

Very Happy Hivelocity customer - and - unaffected by AWS outage on 10/20/2025

As a founding engineer and a CEO of a new company (a small business) I am very Conscientious of how I spend my time, my engineering time and my personal investment that I put into this new endeavor. Hivelocity has been the best investment of my engineering time and personal investment in my small business.

1) I love the architectural flexibility that Hivelocity provides in their data centers for hands on, capable engineers. I have no issues in finding what I need to get the job done and at a fair up-front, price! I love it! No Ambiguity and No Obfuscation.

2) With Hivelocity, I am not on pins and needles every month wondering what my bill is going to be. As small business owners and as we are trying to build a business we CANNOT accommodate such uncertainty in our expenses. Cloud billing shock went away when I signed my company on with Hivelocity.

3) As I am a founding engineer with a personal investment in my company, it became unequivocally clear to me that cloud services with some of the major vendors is needlessly expensive, and unjustifiably so. This issue went away when I signed my company on with Hivelocity.

4) Hivelocity delivers the cost effective value that I have been looking for and I believe alot of other businesses have been looking for that cost effective value too.

5) The latest cloud outage from AWS (last week) made me happy that I completed my repatriation projects prior to the AWS outage. I was ahead of the game and already pulled the plug on them (and other cloud vendors) a few months back. My company was totally unaffected and it made me very happy with my decision to move to Hivelocity.

HIVelocity = HIV with supporting criminals

HIVelocity = HIV. It is company that supports criminal activity for months. If you scam people, spam, do phishing or do other criminal, illegal activities - this dishonest, fraudulent pseudo-corporation with pseudo-hosting is for you. They won't stop you doing illegal stuff.

Their abuse support does not exist. For them, laundered money is more important.

However, when they received my first review there, they replied that they take care of spam (hahahaha) and I need to report spam to abuse[at]givelocity.com and they will take action. It is fake. They NEVER took any action. I was reporting them spam via SpamCop FOR MONTHS and even via e-mail when I had still patience to them. No action taken. No reply.

Instead, these lying bots flagged my previous review for describing their support of illegal stuff.

They're perfidious liars, and even if they reply to this message and say again that they're dealing with spam - it will be lie. Don't use their services if you don't want to support criminals.

Just so you don't think I am talking without any proof. Below I listed some of HIVelocitys IP's which are used by criminals to trick people into fake DHL, FedEx deliveries, fake casino winnings, fake GMail warnings, fake issues with my iCloud storage, fake car insurance issues and a lot, lot more.

They are ALL active. If you enter these IP's like the normal webpages, you will see the placeholders sites used by a single criminal (their client or supporter). All the same styled. I wish all the criminals working for HIVelocity, all the worst, I mean years in prison for defrauding and scamming people.

Cancellation Denied

We requested a cancellation on the day of renewal. Our business was charged $2,100 for a dedicated server subscription until January 2026. We have not used this server and it had been decommissioned in April 2025. We served out our previous subscription time, which we knew could not be refunded. Hivelocity would not allow us to cancel our next 6 months subscription. No pro rate or creative options. The reason why is "it's our policy to not give refunds".

Shockingly Lax Response to Phishing Report

I reported a phishing website hosted on their platform, expecting swift action to protect others from fraud. Instead, Hivelocity’s response was to ask the scammer to remove it themselves. Seriously?

Rather than taking immediate action to suspend or investigate the malicious content, they said:
“We will reach out to the site owner to get this removed.”
This is not just lazy — it’s dangerous.

Phishing sites are designed to steal people’s data. Giving the attacker a polite heads-up is not a responsible security practice. If this is how they handle abuse reports, I wouldn’t trust them with anything remotely security-sensitive.

Absolutely unacceptable.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We take all abuse and phishing reports very seriously, and I’m sorry our initial communication left you with the impression that the matter was not being handled appropriately.

When we receive an abuse complaint, our responsibility is to both investigate thoroughly and ensure that valid customers are not suspended without cause. This means we open a formal abuse case, review the report against our policies, and take appropriate action.

In this instance, the site in question was investigated and ultimately removed as a result of that process.

While our first message may have seemed insufficient, it was part of our standard abuse workflow designed to protect the broader community while also ensuring fairness and due process. Please know that we do not ignore or dismiss phishing complaints. They are treated with urgency and resolved through established procedures that lead to removal when justified. These policies are within industry standards.

We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve the way we communicate our processes to reporters in the future.

Limited Options, Long Contracts

No longer offer servers that you can add additional RAM or upgrade storage space. They will try and force you into an instant server that doesn't fit your needs very well, little to no RAID options.

They no longer can customize anything even if they have the components in stock, even if it's just simple adding a second drive so you can have basic RAID1.

The other option is to get a custom quote from them which takes a few days. The price is at least 3x to 4x higher than what it should be for simple, common, standard configurations (example: Intel E2300 Series, 32 GB RAM, 980 GB SSDs in RAID1 ~$300+/month) they want to put you on a 12 or 24 month contract/term, otherwise the price is 10x to 15x higher than what a standard configuration normally is if you want to just be month to month. They are pretty much asking you, the first customer to lease the brand new hardware to pay off the hardware yourself, even when they have components in stock in which they can easily add another drive to the server, so that they will be able to use it for many years to come, with many different clients, with the hardware being well payed off (by many years) by the time it's retired and junked.

In summary. If you have a need beyond a simple, non-raid, oddly proportioned speced instant dedicated server that you aren't allowed to upgrade ever, you'll be paying at the very least 3x more, waiting 2 months for hardware delivery, and stuck in a contract with them. Do yourself a favor and find any of the many other hosting companies out there that still value customers needs, and don't expect you to pay for the full price of hardware in a few months that they will resell for many years after you're done using the server.
