Can't access the History Extra items on website
I'm a long standing subscriber to BBC History magazine, now called History Extra. No issues with the paper magazine which I still get monthly but my subscription should allow access to the articles and videos on the History Extra website. Since renewing my sub in Nov 2025 I've been unable to do this. Numerous calls to the Immediate Media Helpdesk, have established this is because of IT problems when the subscription number was changed after webuysubscriptions stopped handling these and Immediate Media took over the process and my subscription number was changed. The Helpdesk staff are nice but unable to do anything. I have been told several times they are very sorry and my case will be "escalated" but nothing ever happens. Annoying to see the extras advertised in the mag but unable to access them (yes I have tried to "Link Subscriptions", it doesn't work). Situation still unresolved in Jul 2026 !! seems to me that IM are dragging down a good product and have no idea how to resolve what should be a very simple IT glitch. Exasperated, have decided not to renew when the sub expires.

When I first ordered History Extra ( a birthday gift for my son) there was a problem with the order ( never arrived). I got back in touch with Immediate Media, explained over the phone what happened. I spoke to a lady called Angel and she was so kind and helpful. Straight away Angel was able to solve the problem straight away. My son enjoys the History Extra magazine and can't wait for the next one to arrive

Interesting articles
Interesting articles, fact based history, not idiotic fictionalized opinions. I appreciate that History Extra leaves politics to the politicians.
Monthly delight
I really look forward to my magazine every month. I always go to the crossword first in an effort to keep my brain alert. Articles are very interesting.

Great Magazine, Bad Customer Service
The magazine is great, besides very informative articles, I love the book reviews (almost always find at least to put on my reading list) and the calendar of events, which I always refer to when planning my trips.
My real complaint is with the customer service. I've had to change my address twice in the last 2 years and I found it challenging to complete. The masthead should have a section pointing to the exact customer service website that can accomplish this in a few minutes, instead of making a phone call or spending too much time on your website trying to figure out where to go to make a change.
Also, with my last renewal, I never received a renewal notice nor could I renew easily on your website. After my subscription expired I finally received a email asking me to come back for a good rate. When I called to renew at the stated rate the woman argued with me that she couldn't renew my subscription nor at that rate. I had to get a manager involved to accomplish my renewal. Process was terrible. I am a USA customer and subscriber for several years and this last go around was extremely difficult when they haven't been in the past.
I really enjoy the British bent on…the different perspective from British to American interpretation
I really enjoy the British bent on American History or history that has been taught in America about other events or cultures
