One of the useless tools for hiring job, i dont know who ever want to pay to this. Application form is broken, stuck in the same process for days, validation is stupid if you graduate 20 years go they expect you have transcript and known the exact date of start and end of uni etc.

Waiting almost 2 mos for a background check and missed job opportunity, appear to be the most incompetent background service ever. I can’t believe employers contract with this business.

I am a faculty member at a large university. One of my teaching assistants needed employment verification through HireRight, which I happily gave. Now the fools at HireRight think I'm Human Resources for the entire 36,893 people at my university, and they spam me with multiple requests every day. I have asked to be removed from their lists to no avail. I am surprised anyone hires these idiots.

From the first interaction I knew something was off. I had the last 5 years of work history provided with either contract, LOO or payslips. I provided a contract for my current job and they said they need a contract with my name on it..... My name is on it. I had to screenshot and put an arrow pointing to my name. Then they said the contract had to have a start date.... Same again, had to put an arrow pointing it out. They clearly are not doing due diligence.
Now they want various payslips. Should this continue I'll withdraw from the new job offer. Cancerous practices!

Hire right is the worst background check ever.
My wife was offer a job from a company that uses HireRight to do background checks
First, they ask for pay stubs and W-2 from previous employers. Which I could understand if this was a highly sensitive type of job, but this is not. Then the company that my wife will be working for sent her an e-mail stating they have not received W-2. I know for a fact they did As I scan and uploaded documents to my wife portal on their website. It even shows being receive on her portal under document receive.
Next, they wanted my wife high school diploma. We sent that in
Now they want contact info e-mail and phone number for School. The problem is my wife is from a small providence in Bohol Philippines. So, I been googling for any kind of info nothing. My wife is going to call her parents who are still there to see if they have info. I am not sure why I am doing all the research. When that is Hire Right job. What are companies paying them for?
I told my wife I am not even sure now. If it is worth getting this job, even if it is more pay. Hire right turn what sounded like good job offer into a nightmare

The most incompetent company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.
- REFUSED to advise what personal information they have collected about ME, which is completely against all GDPR laws.
- Repeatedly asked for documents and information which had already been submitted.
- Could not grasp that an ex-employer had ceased trading and therefore no longer had a HR department. Held up my check for over a month waiting for a reference from a company that they couldn’t contact because it DIDN’T EXIST anymore. This was advised four seperate times after I was repeatedly being asked for the same information. I had provided proof of employment in every way they had requested and this still wasn’t enough.
- Wanted to provide proof of what I had been doing as I had taken a career break of 3 months between employment. This is beyond intrusive and absolutely not needed for an employment check. If the ‘researcher’ had any critical thinking skills they would be able to recognise from my criminal checks that I hadn’t been in prison in that time and that I had been waiting for HireRight to complete their ‘checks’. What I do in my personal time is nothing to do with HireRight. Concerning that they are trying to collect this data.
- Sent out a reference request to an ex-employer without my name attached and with such poor grammar it was believed to be a phishing attempt.
- Received a reference from a previous HR department and then wanted copies of my previous employment contracts to ‘investigate if my former employer was being truthful’. Incredibly insulting.
- The live chat are AI bots who are unable to answer very basic questions citing ‘procedure’.
- No response to emails
- Incredibly slow, constant drip feed of requests over weeks and weeks instead of asking for information immediately.
- Supplied a copy of my University degree and then they wanted to investigate further whether I actually attended University? I wouldn’t have a degree to show if I didn’t attend.
They treat applicants like criminals. This felt like a police investigation in which I was trying to defend my innocence.
They claim on their responses here that they ask for more information when they cannot verify info provided. But cannot explain why official documents and references directly from HR aren’t sufficient enough for them.
If you are an employer please do not use this company as it gives an incredibly poor impression of you as an employer.
I will not respond to you under ‘find reviewer.
EDIT: Credit where credit is due, they did respond to my email quickly and satisfactory.

Applying for a simple customer support job in Latvia, my home country. Being an honest applicant, I've mentioned living in Portugal a while ago. Apparently, my current home address in Riga, my home town, was not enough.
Now, they are requiring me to provide them with a Portuguese criminal record and some other notarized document. In addition to all the documentation in Latvia, which is understood. Naturally, I am not spending money to fly to Portugal and back, pay for notarizations, and other travel costs, just to satisfy their insane requirements.
I've worked for American companies and handled sensitive information. Even certified by US Department of Veterans Affairs but have never met such nonsensical requirements before.

This is the worse background verification agency I have ever come across. There employees are extremely incompetent giving conflicting responses, unable to determine the difference between a W-2 form and a paystub and asking for the same document multiple times. No employer should use them because they are completely inept at reading basic information. Worse experience I have ever had.

This is by far the most incompetent company that I have ever dealt with. During one candidacy, they claimed they they couldn’t verify any of my employers for the last 8 years! I called one employer, at the number that I gave Hireright, and got ahold of HR in less than a minute. I called another employer that told me that they were disconnected from Hireright while speaking on the phone, but Hireright never called them back. Then Hireright has the audacity to contact me requesting W2s for these and other companies. I’m experiencing their ineptitude for the third time in 8 years and will end up taking another job offer, and telling my prospective employer why, before I tolerate their incompetence once again. I have the emails between myself and these representatives to prove this to future employers. Do your jobs instead of getting paid to have candidates do it for you.

Completed the entire background check, all required documentation and multiple face scans - just for them to issue a "missing" report. Absolute joke of a company.

HireRight has proven incompetence again and again. I try to give grace thinking they have turnover and are constantly training new people BUT it has been at my own expense.
When they say they will 'escalate' that means they do nothing.
When you add comments to push along processes, you will be ignored.
The representatives are not knowledgeable, and their incompetence can add a week or more to your background check processes.
The representatives are very nice and will give you the impression they know what they are doing.

Worst Background Check
- Asked applicant to submit something which had been already provided
- Did not try to reach the provided contact and claimed the verification unsuccessful
- Addressed applicant name in wrong spelling
I mean, it doesn’t seem fair to treat every verification check as a failure just because it requires a small effort to reach the correct contact, right?
Ridiculous

Awful. This app is used by my employer to undertake a verification process. What an awful app. It is virtually unusable and in the end I gave up. I was using an iPhone 16 and as an example of how bad the app is, when I came to take a photo of my driving licence the photo button was so far down the screen that the image completely disappeared. Unfortunately this was and isolated case of the dreadful user interface and there are simply too many to list. The net result of my attempt to use the app was that I abandoned. Awful, useless

Absolutely the worst screening company I have ever dealt with. They are constantly asking for forms and documents I have already submitted, they say references and employment has been verified but days later I get an email saying some haven’t been verified. Rather than send me emails during the day they wait till 10pm-midnight when I’m sleep so I need to wake up early just to resend documents I’ve already submitted. Very unorganized company and it’s safe to say they should be putting their own employees through a reliability screening.

They are not doing their job properly. They never contact any references but they always claim that references are not available. They asked me for paystubs and I told them it”s illegal to seek a candidate’s paystubs and since then they said my references are not confirm. I think government need to audit and find out who they are and what they are doing. They can sell candidates sensetive information.

I feel like this company is doing to much to prove their worthiness. My references are afraid to speak with them because of the information they are asking. One of my references told me that she was audited because of them. This is the second time I've experience this with this company. Though I understand the meaning of the process, I feel like our livelihood is
at risk when the company's deal with them.

Go an unsolicited email from "Mansoor" that vaguely asked for the HR managers personal details so they could vet a "former employee" who gave my company as a reference.
Well I guess here's the thing. Im self employed lol. So my guess is they were fishing for someone to flog their one-star-out-of-five "service" to.
Anyway I replied with a "yes you can enquire toinfo@ (generic email), citing privacy etc. That was 2 weeks ago and nothing since lol.

Worst background check company in the world. They made my first full-time job delayed, just because of their unprofessionalism and sluggish processing speed.
Customer service officers are rude. They give misleading and ambiguous information. I'm not surprised to see so many people give bad reviews about this awful agent. What surprise me is that they still survive after tons of bad reviews.
