Good results, appropriate exercises, accountability, and encouraging coaching.

Hinge health exercises improved muscle tone and increased flexibility, which I credit with reduced knee pain. The knee program treats the lower body as a whole, with a overlap with hip and lower back exercises. When traveling, only a cell phone with the app and an elastic band are all that's needed. The squats and lunges were particularly helpful. Communication with a coach encourages accountability, reinforced with online calendars and milestone markers. My coaches have been excellent, but I understand they have a huge caseload. It is apparent that a major goal of HH is to steer participants away from joint replacement. The only detriment is that, for overweight persons, the one-legged squats put a dangerous amount of weight on one knee.

Hi Jan, It sounds like you've had a really positive experience with Hinge Health! It’s great to hear that the exercises have not only improved your muscle tone and flexibility but also helped reduce your knee pain.

Your insight about the one-legged squats for overweight individuals is important; finding modifications that maintain safety while still providing a challenge is key. We encourage you to keep an open dialogue with your care team so they can address any concerns you may have about the exercises provided and recommend modifications/alternatives as needed.

We love to hear from our members and we are grateful to partner with you on your wellness journey. Keep up the great work!

This is absolutely a scam

This is absolutely a scam. I signed up for low back pain exercise program. The exercise were useless. The camera kept advising me that I can stretch farther but does not specify exactly how I can do it properly. The coach are useless. In the brief time I used the app, my so call advocate coach kept changing. I couldn't keep up with their turn over personnel. After I downloaded the App, I think I only used it 5 times at most. I did not receive any productive treatments or products and yet they charged my insurance $1195.00 dollars. Even more outrages my Health Insurance actually paid them in full! Apparently they can make these outrages charges to my insurance just by answering my question via text and I have not even spoke with a live person, despite the fact that no productive service was provided. What has become of today's medical therapist's work ecthics? Nothing more than a money grabbing sham. Just realized they made charges on 6/23/24. I have now deleted the App

Hi Amy, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience was anything less than exceptional. Please know that the exercises are designed to start off fairly simple in the beginning and increase in intensity overtime.

In regards to working with a temporary Health Coach, we do assign coverage for when a coach is out of office for any reason to ensure that consistent and timely support is always available. We can understand how this may be confusing to our members and we certainly apologize for the inconvenience.

Our programs are made available through partnerships with employers and benefit funds who agree to cover the full cost of the program for eligible members. The 12-month membership provides 24/7 access to personalized exercise therapy and education through the Hinge Health app, support from a care team (Health Coach and licensed Physical Therapist) and any program materials provided to help complete the exercise therapy sessions.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please reach out to us at help@hingehealth.com. We’re here to support you and always happy to help.

I have tried twice to get help as this…

I have tried twice to get help as this is covered by my current employer and have twice been told with different joint concerns that I do not qualify with no reason given. Most definitely not a helpful or useful service for what they advertise themselves…joint concerns. USELESS. Save your time and avoid any disappointment from this serviceless option.
Again…USELESS!

The insurance company JUST THIS MONTH…

The insurance company JUST THIS MONTH send info and keep offering their services via countless mailings to my spouse to help prevent need for joint surgery and avoid pain rx. News Flash: He had both knees replaced THREE YEARS AGO and ONLY takes an occasional OTC Tylenol. Beyond angry that insurance companies “sell your info” when you do NOT want these things

Hinge health is a really bad joke and waste of money

Hinge health gave me exercises that I was unable to perform due to the pain. They said they were sorry I am unable to complete the exercises and charged my insurance company 250.00. Hinge Health is a rip-off. I would give them negative stars if I could.

Waste of my time

I've been very unimpressed and disappointed with this service. Before I joined, they assured me that they had experience with hEDS patients and their specific exercise needs. We had a phone call conference (that she was late to). I felt like she was reading from a script. Very generic questions and answers, not really personalized at all, I felt like I was just a number in the queue and definitely not the focus of her attention while we were on the phone; at one point her music started playing on her phone as if she was doing something other than just talking to me. When I mentioned my hEDS; she didn't know what that was, and then said that she thinks she's heard of it before. I explained more of the situation, and made it very clear that the default routine exercises I was being sent would not work for my hEDS as they would actually make my situation worse due to my hypermobility. I was then told that they were reaching out to other team members to see is there was anybody with extensive knowledge. 2wks went by and I've heard nothing from them other than the default message that I haven't been doing my exercises and that they were there to help. If you don't know about something, like hEDS (which is understandable as it is rare), then don't claim to have extensive knowledge just to gain me as a patient. I was really looking forward to working with someone who truly knew the needs and requirements of someone with hEDS, and instead I'm left disappointed and unimpressed. Please do better before taking on a patient with very specific needs; don't claim to have knowledge in something if you really don't much about it other than you may have heard of it before.

Give it a try

The program I’m using is via app on iPhone. I do not pay additional amount over my insurance. I had a back pain that went away after 8 levels — something that was low grade but not terrible. During this time my shoulder was getting to be very painful flowing a course of in-person PT. So I asked to switch from my back to the shoulder program. I am definitely seeing a significant improvement at 3/4 through the program. The PT is available to me for questions. The coaches do not do much for me, but that is fine and the way I like it. I’d recommend it for anyone who it’s available for.

A lot of hidden costs for little return

This company, through my insurance program is charging "subscription" fees. I had one call, downloaded their app, indicated a pain point (you can only select one body part per "subscription") and got a few generic stretching exercises. I then noticed the $1000 claim on my insurance. I called my insurance company to find out what it was for and it was for "evaluation" (i.e. the questions I answered in the app). I then called Hinge to cancel so I didn't get charged again and told it was for a year's subscription. I said maybe I'd try something for a different body part pain, and she said "oh, that will be a new subscription and "care team". And we wonder why healthcare costs are so high :(

It definitely helped my shoulder.

Hinge Health will supply you with a kit that includes a zippered pouch, 3 resistance bands of varying strength, motion detectors, and an Android device that has their app on it. (You need to use the app to know how to do the exercises.) The motion detectors are used to help ensure that the exercises are being done correctly. After a while you don't really need to use the monitors. You will also be assigned a Coach who helps monitor your progress and encourages you. There are forty levels of exercises, then you can continue as maintenance. HH has PhD-level Physical Therapists on staff, and they can be consulted through your coach when you are having difficulty with the exercises or even other issues. IMO it is a legit and helpful program, and I am convinced that it helped me avoid shoulder surgery.

Definitely a data mining enterprise

Definitely a data mining enterprise. Only works with an app, but fortunately they will send you a tablet for free, and I only use the tablet with this app and have a dedicated email account only for this program, and I gave them a fake phone number. They will only help with one problem at a time, so it's not in any way comprehensive. If you have a knee problem and a back problem, you are out of luck and will have to get a real medical provider, which defeats the whole purpose of a program like this.

Thank you for the feedback. We are thrilled to share that all major joints and body parts are now supported.

Our clinical experts recommend focusing on between one and three body parts to start with, in order to strike the perfect balance between addressing multiple areas of pain and ensuring focused, effective treatment for the best possible outcomes.

We also provide an assigned care team to guide you through your program, including helping you switch up your focus areas when you’re ready. We hope you will reconsider participating if you are still experiencing muscle and joint pain!

I LOVE HINGE HEALTH

I have been on the Hinge Health program for over 1 1/2 years, and absolutely LOVE it! Since I started with it, it has helped me NOT have to get spinal shots for lower back and iliotibial band (side of leg) pain. I try to do a session which are very doable, can pick the level of difficulty, every morning and what a difference it makes!!! I wake up bent over and walk very slowly but once I "get my stretches in" I am good for the day.

The app is OK; the rest is obnoxious

I got this free through my employer -- I certainly wouldn't pay for it myself. The app is alright, but the rest of it is just annoying. Don't trust their customer service staff -- those people don't seem to have a clue how the service actually operates. Don't trust the account settings either -- they may ask for your contact preferences, but then they're going to go ahead and completely ignore those preferences and do whatever they want. I HIGHLY recommend giving them a fake phone number -- you can't change it later, and while there's an option to opt out of texts they will ignore that and text you anyway. Basically if you do sign up I'd suggest to give them as much false information as you can and completely ignore any attempt they make to contact you. But the app isn't bad -- it has lots of room for improvement (they need fewer "coaches" and customer support staff and more app devs IMO) but it basically works as advertised -- gives customized routines of stretches and exercises, tracks your progress, and has some gamification elements for a bit of extra motivation. And refreshingly, no ads...which shouldn't need to be said about a paid app but these days it probably does...

(Edit: Originally this was a 2 star review, but somehow TrustPilot decided that leaving a two star review when they so far only had a single one star review increased their overall rating to three stars...so I've reduced mine to 1 star to compensate)

Part of the problem not the solution

Scum data broker company gets employee data from companies then sends emails and also post cards with open face, no privacy, in a way that allows others to create a profile with where someone works, lives, what kind of health they may have.
