Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 285 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found the app and website to be problematic, with issues like shadowbanning and a lack of genuine profiles, making it difficult to connect with real people. Customers often reported being banned without clear reasons, even after verifying their identity, which led to frustration and a feeling of unfair treatment. The subscription model was also a point of contention, with users feeling that the platform's business model prioritizes user retention over successful relationships and that they were receiving poor value. However, some customers also noted that the app's design and profile prompts were appealing, fostering more natural conversations. A few other people also felt that they had positive experiences, with some even meeting their life partners through the platform.

Money Pitt, Poor App, Incompetent Staff

Wouldn’t trust this dating app. Poor screening process. Not a safe space to be. A woman banned me out of spite for ghosting her. Hinge declined my appeal and wouldn’t give me a reason. Incompetent staff… go elsewhere

The Hinge dating App is terrible

The Hinge dating App is terrible.
I unmatched someone and when they asked me why, I gave them an honest reason and instead of just removing their account from my liked list, HINGE ended up removing my account and when i tried to appeal it, they wouldn't give me a reason or an explanation. HINGE is bullshit and so is their staff and support team.

Signed up to Hinge - DON'T

Signed up to Hinge. Uploaded pics and filled bio as requested.
Feed came through (all bits I should add) Then, I received a suspension notice for not filling out or confirming to "something". I say something because when you appeal you get this copy and pasted rely that means nothing. There was nothing wrong with my sign up. This site is about fobbing off advertisers. I have 43k followers on X, so Ive alerted my followers with my experience. Thank goodness I hadn't preloaded credit. Read some of the thousands of disgruntled customers. I'm so pleased I became suspicious of their workings.
Folks just warn you this is a fraudulent site.

oh where can I begin

oh where can I begin, I sent a message to one person about how tall was she, she replied back stating her height and asked "why?" I responded cordially that "I was curious...wanted to get to know her" as she appeared to be tall, not that I have anything against dating a woman taller than me. She then just disappeared. I had a few like my profile pic, but no message sent. Hinge was supposed to be one of the better ones, guess not, no communication or responses is a regular thing! Don't do it!

All they do is blatantly scam people and for some reason they get away with it

I have no idea how you can scam people with impunity for such a long time, but the fact is that Hinge is still working even with so mighty legitimate rivals like AFFinders.com
They must be quite good at fooling people by making a very positive first impression. Initially, it's an easy sell but once they know your bank details they automatically subscribe you for a full year membership, take your money and then find a silly reason to ban your account. In my case when they banned me they did not even bother to provide any explanation. They just don't care about customer complaints. Unbelievably blatant scam! Rascals!

My accoubt was suspended for no reason

My accoubt was suspended for no reason. After using it for one day.
No house rules were broken, very weird and strange.

On appeal they provided no answer.

Its either racially motivated or just a crap app. As they gave no reason I can speculate too. Worst app ever avoid...if you're not white

Remove the account using my email address to log into your site!

I’m contacting your team to get my email removed from your app as someone is trying to create an account with my email address! Your team says I have to complain in app but I’m not a hinge user ! Does this mean you do nothing to protect the integrity of your platform , and the details and identities of people which might be misused, unless a person downloads and uses your platform????

Hinge is a SCAM DATING APP

joined this app, paid the membership fee, and was banned just two days later without any explanation. I carefully reviewed the terms and conditions and found nothing that would justify a ban.

When I appealed, I was told that they don’t need to provide a reason and that my membership fee would not be refunded. After researching, I discovered that this same experience has happened to many others — users being banned with no explanation and no refunds.

It’s starting to look like a pattern of unethical practices. Someone needs to investigate this further, possibly through legal action or a class-action lawsuit, because they appear to be taking millions from users who simply wanted a genuine connection.

Unfair Ban, No Transparency, and Terrible Support Experience

I’m extremely disappointed with Hinge. My account was banned without any valid reason, right after a match threatened to report me as a “fake profile.” To prove I was real, I went through Hinge’s photo verification — which I passed successfully — but shortly after, I was banned anyway.

I appealed immediately and explained the situation, but my appeal was rejected within minutes without any explanation or reference to what I supposedly did wrong. Later, I exercised my rights as an EU resident under the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the GDPR, and Hinge sent me my data export. The result? Nothing in my messages shows any violation whatsoever. My conversations were normal, polite, and respectful.

When I followed up, Hinge replied with an irrelevant automated message congratulating me for “meeting someone great” — clearly showing that my case wasn’t reviewed by a human.

This experience has been incredibly frustrating and unfair. As an EU user, I have now filed a formal complaint with the Belgian Digital Services Coordinator (BIPT) for violation of the DSA.

Hinge’s moderation process is arbitrary, untransparent, and unaccountable. They ban genuine users without evidence and then refuse to explain why. If you’re considering using Hinge, be aware that you can lose access to your profile, matches, and data at any time — even if you’ve done nothing wrong.

The most disgusting dating app so far!

The most disgusting dating app so far!

Full of scamming profiles and disgusting unprofessional customer service who don't know how to support.

The algorithm is definitely not functioning/ broken or maybe made intentionally to keep people paying expliting their need to find partners to pay more.

That's the WORST app I've ever used.

Hinge banned me for no reason

Hinge banned me for no reason. Now you might think “yeah, sure.. there’s always a reason”. I promise you, I’m a polite, kind and decent guy that shows more respect than majority. I have nothing bad to say about anyone (other than hinge).. what I do think might have happened, is that I posted a picture of me in my selfmade Halloween costume from last year, because I’m proud, artsy and crafty.. now.. to some (including the bots of hinge) this picture might seem scary, I get that.. I just didn’t think that THAT would be enough to get a lifetime ban from hinge. That sucks. “Next time” just warn me and let me take it down before you go ahead and ruin a nice and decent guy’s chances of meeting people - That’s just harsh.
I’ve contacted you, and it seems like your bots are not interested in discussing the choice (did the robots take over already?) So therefor I felt like my next option was taking this to BBB, they will be in contact with you. Next we’re talking online magazines and news - trust me, I have all the right channels to tap into. Please do reconsider, you don’t want this.

For the rest of you - Hinge is not trustworthy and respectful of their users - they will ban you without notice and let sexworkers of OF-workers, people who gaslight, scammers roam hinge freely with no consequence, but a decent polite man looking for love, you’re suddenly not welcome. Oh, and that reminds me, they also ban transsexual people for being trans. This place is toxic! TOXIC!!

Don't expect an answer

Been a while on this app now, the number of people (women in my case) that either accept a like or send you a like and then don't reply a message is concerning. Beside the occasional proper fraudulent accounts that askyou for money on the third text, don't hold your hope high and go to a bar, a concert or even just for a walk, much easier to meet people

Hinge— a complete nightmare! Scam, bans, and money-grabbing!

This app is an absolute nightmare for users! 😡 I spent money on a subscription and paid features, and my account was banned for no reason, with no explanation or proof.
Someone allegedly filed a complaint claiming I violated the rules, and the support team simply banned me without any investigation. I asked them to review all my messages and explain where I supposedly broke the rules — nothing! Just template responses and a refusal to refund my money.
Hinge shamelessly grabs money by banning users at the first complaint, completely ignoring their rights. No support, no transparency — just wasted time, nerves, and money!
If you are thinking about buying a subscription or paid features — run away from this app! It’s a pure scam and a money trap. I’ve never seen such awful treatment of users.
