This mama was bamboozled
Where do I start. In order to join Heymama.co you have to complete an application and wait for "acceptance". You have to choose a membership before you even know what you are signing up for. No where on their FAQs does it say that you have to sign up for a year long membership. I signed up in Los Angeles hoping to meet other local moms. Their dashboard is just a bunch of women advertising services. THERE ARE NO LA EVENTS. I emailed them stating I wanted to cancel and they told me no. I responded, " I would advise you to cancel my account". Then they responded, "we have cancelled your account and tried to charge me $75. The owner of this company needs to get sued. She is bamboozling people out of $465 to fund a virtual marketplace of women entrepreneurs.
It started so strong with amazing…
It started so strong with amazing content and quickly spiraled into an online board of everyone posting for people to try or buy their product. Monthly meetings were sold out, and in-person meetings were not approved, even after it took two months to track down local people. I just haven't seen a return on my investment. Most posts only get admin comments vs reach. I absolutely love the concept and LOVE LOVE LOVE your matchmaking. The rest just doesn't pay off.
Great Community of Inspirational Women!
Great experience with the whole HeyMama Family. Happy to be a part of this growing community of inspirational women!
Content + Networking
Most content feels too self-promotional and dominated by certain members (coaching!) vs helpful and constructive networking

I like to interact with my fellow Mama's, may it be asking for advice, a concern, our virtual meeting, the atmosphere is just great.
Very little value
Very little value, and you cannot cancel outside of a year membership. I tried their mentorship program thinking it would be great, and was highly disappointed. This company is boosting numbers by holding you hostage in a contract with them for a year at $35 a month. A total joke. You shouldn't have to force people to be your members. Avoid at all costs. This is not for executive women - it's a bunch of people pushing workshops and freelance work.
Sneaky membership renewal practice..
They renewed my membership (after a year) with absolutely zero emails stating "your membership is renewing!" or notice. When I am renewing others' charges, they get a notice saying they'll be charged and when. Especially after a year, a warning is a business practice that tells your customers you stand by your product and don't have to sneak a $350 charge that they don't remember. Then, when I asked for a refund, they refunded all but $75. Why keep the $75? And no one responded to my email.
The onboarding process was a bit…
The onboarding process was a bit confusing. There didn't seem to be any real chapter leadership. I want a local chapter that is going to have regular meetings online or in person and that wasn't the case here. Also, when I asked about in-person events I was told it was the members' responsibility to put them together. I don't have time for that nor do I want to do that. I want to join a networking group that takes care of the details and brings people together for networking! Also, the two events that I did go to were poorly run. They were shopping and exercise events -- not what I would call business networking. I did not see the value of being a member so I didn't continue with the group.
It took a minute to really engage
It took a minute to really engage, but when I did, I realized that the membership is well worth it. It's opened up to the relationships I was looking to build for both business and community development! Thank you!
I had a so-so experience as a member and a poor cancellation experience.
I had a so-so experience as a member, and then a pretty bad cancellation experience.
I had signed up at the introductory rate and did not plan on renewing. I'd forgotten to cancel before the auto-renew hit my account -- this was really stressful because we just happened to be in a really precarious financial situation between jobs and right after the holidays.
I reached out that day as soon as I saw the transaction and was told that "as a one-time courtesy", HeyMama would allow me to cancel, but I'd have to pay $75 in processing fees. I can't imagine why it costs HeyMama that much to remove my email/login.
The language was also really confusing --- at first glance, for me, it read as though I'd be partially refunded at $275, and then also charged an additional $75 in cancellation fees. It took a couple emails back and forth to get clarity on that. It was frustrating and time-consuming, and I was still out $75 just to cancel in a time of financial stress for my family.
As a member, I joined to find mentorship and community in my industry to assist me in a career change, but found it to be challenging and time consuming. I was also attracted by the prospect of being in a community of women supporting and lifting each other up. What I for the most part found were posts from online coaches that read more like ads. It's not impossible to find mentorship and community there, and if you are in the virtual assistant or digital marketing space, there are often job postings there and a warm referral, but for me, I didn't find it all that different than what I can do within a free site like Linkedin. I did find a job through HeyMama, and there were online events every so often that were a good way to meet people, and even a couple in person events in my area, but for me in my industry, they weren't valuable enough to justify the full cost of membership.
Highly valuable membership!
HeyMama is super valuable to me and my company. I've made many great connections, and every woman there - from the CEO & HeyMama staff to the members - is willing to share knowledge, connections and time. If you're considering joining HeyMama, and are willing to share your time, connections and knowledge with other amazing women, you'll get so much value out of your membership.
Ridiculous Membership Lengths - unhelpful customer service.
Having to agree to 6 months of membership at a time is ridiculous. When I asked them to please cancel as I was using none of the resources, they are not relevant to someone in my region as there are no meet-ups or talks near me. I was told it was not possible and they would continue to charge me.
The resources may be helpful for those in cities with hubs but if you are not near one of those cities it has little value.
I absolutely love this community
I have absolutely loved being a part of the Hey Mama community. It’s been such a great resource for networking, advice, referrals, exposure, partnerships and much more! Through the HM network I’ve been a guest on several podcasts, executed co-branded promotions and found influencers to name just a few ways it’s helped my business. But honestly, the best part is just chatting one-on-one with other accomplished mamas and making friends with women all over the country. The women I’ve met have such impressive collective experiences, so they give great advice, and it’s made me feel like I am not alone in my endeavors. I’ve found that you definitely get out of it what you put in and I am always happy to help the community in any way that I can.
Moms who are doing more deserve a place…
Moms who are doing more deserve a place like HeyMama. Whether you're a mom founder, mom business owner, or corporate career mom, HeyMama community supports you. Having joined HeyMama, I have gained not only mom friends and a sense of belonging in a modern world for moms, but also personal and professional growth. Moreover, by engaging with the community, I also helped other mom entrepreneurs through business collaborations to help achieve their goals.
3 Years with HM
HeyMama has been such a haven of support for me. Not only is it an incredibly powerful network of really freakin' impressive professionals but it's also a community of incredible parents struggling and thriving in the same ways that I have. I've never been in a group so committed to self-improvement and uplifting others at the same time. I was able to do a full 180 career pivot thanks to the connections made within HeyMama and I am forever grateful for that!
It takes a village for working moms too...
Just being surrounded by other driven women who understand the challenges of trying to juggle modern motherhood with a career (or in some cases entrepreneurship) helps me stay inspired and provides a space to be seen when things are feeling too hard and celebrated when things are going well. HeyMama has also served as a platform for me to meet other women both in the wellness space and beyond. Connecting with like-minded, passionate women truly energizes me and is one of the things I do to fill up my cup.
Excellent!
I look forward to the many more events they put on in the future!
sketchy renewal fees
Requested to cancel the day my subscription renewed and was charged a $75 fee. Considering there is no physical product, and this is an organization that claims to "have your back" rah rah I can't think of a less friendly policy towards a busy mom during back to school time.
A HUGE Disappointment
A HUGE Disappointment
I really wanted to like this organization and engage with the members. However, after about 6 months of trying, I realized it wasn't for me. Sadly, you are locked into a 12 month contract with no exit. This finds the organization with people in it who are angry and dont engage because they dont want to be part of the organization. Holding members hostage to boost their numbers isn't an effective membership strategy. When I approached leadership about leaving, I was told there was no wiggle room to leave. They are a money grab. I would recommend spending your valuable dollars elsewhere.
