Run Like Hell. This company sucks.

I bought three units for $600. They simply suck! I reached out to the company and someone who identified herself as “Kimberly” essentially told me to pound sand. No returns. They got me. I would never recommend this company or their products to anyone! The reply below fails to mention the five months I spent trying to get the units to work before RYSE told me I was out of luck. This is the response you will receive if you have ANY issues with their products. Thanks for your payment, but you're on your own. They will reimburse me for the three units. But apparently, not voluntarily.

Hi Eric, we sincerely apologize for your experience. Unfortunately, your refund request was initiated about 5 months past the 30-day return window, so we are unable to process a return at this time. We did, however, offer technical support assistance to which you have declined. We would love the opportunity to troubleshoot your devices for you - if you change your mind, please feel free to reach out to our support team and we will readily assist you.

Installation of the Smartblinds was…

Installation of the Smartblinds was quick and easy. However, setting up the Smartbridge was terrible. The technology part of the installation was also horrible. Reaching out to the support team took too much time as you can not call anyone, you can only email or do online chat. Response from them took way too long. It was very frustrating for us. They need to have a phone number to call.

Good Idea, Crude Execution

I enjoy the convenience of being able to remotely open blinds, but for $200+ (SmartShade + Bridge) I would have expected something of much higher quality.

I can by thousands of Wi-Fi based devices for $25, so why does Ryse require a Bridge given the cost of these products?

Also, I have to recalibrate the settings… “Closed” isn’t quite what we agreed it should be.

I like the product, but look forward to the day when it is more polished and reasonably priced.

Was sent a used/returned Smart Shade!

Received my order a week ago. Unboxed the Smart Shade and found that it was covered with dust and discolored, seemingly from being in the sun; it appeared that I was sent a refurbished or previously owned/used product. Multiple attempts contacting customer service to get an exchange were completely unsuccessful. I never once received a reply from Ryse. No accountability and zero regard for customer satisfaction.

Terrible Delivery Handling and Customer…

Terrible Delivery Handling and Customer Service – $700 Lost, No Resolution
I ordered RYSE smart shades (Order #HR9457, ~$700) in early 2025, but the package was never delivered to my address in Florida. OnTrac (their courier) marked it “delivered,” but their own investigation email stated: “we were not able to locate this package during our investigation” and directed me back to RYSE. My security cameras recorded no delivery, tracking lacked an “Out for Delivery” status (unlike my other RYSE order), and no photo proof was provided despite repeated requests.
RYSE repeatedly denied refund/reshipment, claiming “courier confirmed delivery” and suggested contacting my bank for purchase protection—despite the contradiction from OnTrac. Over a year of emails (Feb 2025–Feb 2026), escalations to manager, and strong evidence got nowhere. Their responses were canned and unhelpful.
The product might be good, but this delivery process and refusal to resolve is unacceptable. Avoid if relying on their shipping—many similar complaints in reviews. 1/5 stars.

I have used 4 Ryse Smart shades for…

I have used 4 Ryse Smart shades for about 20 months at this point; at this point, it was a complete waste of money.

[1] The parts wear out quickly. You can expect the "cogs" that pull the shade up and down to last ~4-6 months. Not only are you signing up for an ongoing "subscription" to pay for replacement parts in perpetuity, but you're signing yourself up for constant fine-tuning.

I had adjusted my Ryse shades to move at the slowest possible setting to minimize the wear and tear, and I could push the cog to last 6 months. Unfortunately, there aren't any "safety" mechanisms built into the motor, which is stronger than the plastic. For one of my smart shades, it has had catastrophic damage to the entire housing - the motor ripped the shoddy plastic up when the cog failed - and that has rendered the entire unit unusable. This was with 18 months of intermittent use (I say intermittent, because it takes ~2 weeks to get replacement parts to you - so your shades will work ~46-48 weeks out of a year).

Ryse will replace parts for a year, and then you have to pay to cover shipping for new parts thereafter. After that, you have to pay $15 each time you need new parts.

[2] The Ryse app is unstable; sometimes, it will say that one of the shades cannot be detected. Other times, it will automatically reset the calibration on a unit without telling you.

I didn't touch the settings for a couple months, and one day one of the Ryse shades simply ran past the calibrated "top" of the shade - meaning, when the shade is fully retracted, the motor keeps trying to pull more and retract further - this ended up breaking the entire shade itself.

That was my final straw - I have since removed the shades from operation. this it a buggy, poorly designed system that is not worth the money.

RYSE Warranty Claim

The controller for my vertical blinds failed within 1 year of receiving it so I requested a new one. My initial request was denied, starting it was out of warranty. After arguing with them they consented, and agreed to replace it. I sent the old one back and received a new one. It is installed and is working so far.

Broke in 2 weeks, bad customer support, deceptive marketing

Their marketing is deceptive -- the automation on being able to set schedules for your timers is not included with the device (e.g., open at 8am every morning). You have to buy a separate add-on device for that functionality but that's not what their website communicates.

Mine also worked for 2 weeks but then my cord completely snapped out of the device and broke while it was in use.

BUYER BEWARE..STAY AWAY FROM RYSE

I own a very successful draprey workroom. I was excited about this product as a less expensive alternative to traditionaI motors. We installed many of these on roman shades using Rollease continuous chains. Every single one of them within weeks broke. The internal wheel with cogs that "move" the chain are thin plastic and easily break.
I reached out to the company...good luck with reaching a human being...and they were going to replace the wheels. They acknowledged that the plastic was a problem....
I never heard from anyone again. And then today another client reached out and her motor had also broken.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. THEIR PRODUCT IS FAULTY AND THEY OFFER NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL.
THEY PREY ON HOMEOWNERS THAT THEY CAN ACCUSE OF NOT INSTALLING OR OPERATING THEIR PRODUCT PROPERLY.

And now that they have seen the review..they have offered to replace the plastic parts, which they are replacing with metal in March, with new plastic parts..That is not a solution. I wanted to send the faulty parts back and was told it was past the 30 day limit. They can respond all day long that they have offered a remedy. They have..but not one that makes any sense at all. So..yes...I told them to never contact me again.
You want motors for your shades..rech out to Rowley Company....And if anything breaks or there is any problem, Rowley Company takes care of it..PERIOD.

I had what I thought was a problem.

I had what I thought was a problem with my SmartShade stopping in increments up and down. After a phone call, I found out that you need to push the arrows for 2 seconds for complete opening and closing.
