This company is a load of sharks. In response to an advert to show for free any car finance. The ad was not free and I stopped the completion of their forms. They have repeatedly told me I now have an account with them and I have repeatedly told them I have not requested their help or engaged their services. They failed to stop and now they think they can force me to be their customer by slapping a huge bill on me. Do NOT engage or communicate with this company under any circumstances.

UPDATE after your response: I never completed your application process as I contacted the seller directly. The phone call I received was only intended as tricking me into signing for your sponsorship and I won't contact support team, as I never provided my details to you.
Scammers. I did my own DIY claim and they called to trick me into signing up with them, suggesting that this was the follow up and only way forward to my claim. Dishonest, everything hanging by a thread, and they are unable to provide anything on writing.

If it was possible to give zero I would. This scam law company first cold call you and then follow up with emails when you say no, eventually trying to charge you for work you’ve not asked for. They should be banned by he financial regulator but probably will continue to get away with their dishonest practices.

The ratings for this company are based off how easy is it to complete their form, not ratings on the company itself or how it works - VERY misleading.
My Mum filled in the online form just as an enquiry and was shocked when she received an email about them taking on her claim, with 3 documents attached with her signature that she never provided! They must have taken them off the service agreements they identified so it really worried her they would use her signature like that. She had not actually signed any of those documents herself.
It asked for a photo of some identification to get started, but then before she'd sent that she received an email about how her claim was ready to be submitted, despite being within the 14 day cooling off period, not sending ID to confirm she wanted to proceed and without actually signing any of these documents they were supposedly planning on using.
She emailed to cancel yesterday, and today got a call telling her the case was ready to go. She reiterated she sent a formal email notice of cancellation yesterday and sent their form, signed, today. The HD Law representative had no idea and ended the call shortly after.
A law firm who uses someone's signature without their consent is absolutely not to be trusted and the ratings are warped by people commenting on how easy the enquiry form is to use, that is all.

I was told I signed a contract asking for representation on a finance claim. I asked for a copy of the contract as I had no memory of signing anything, and the signature looked nothing like mine. I asked for the ip address of the e-signature and it was signed in Frankfurt Germany, I live in the uk. They were threatening me with charges for work they had carried out on the case. Stay clear!

Could not get a clear answer on there fees. Very pushy on the phone. Emailed to cancel, I have had emails back saying they are on the next stage of my claim ...but I have cancelled within the 14 days cooling off period. I have not uploaded ID and have not response from cancellation just confirming they are moving to next steps what do I do they are not listening. Scam law firm

Really unhappy with HD Law so far. A family member cancelled within the 14-day cooling-off period and clearly told them to stop all work and delete their details. Instead of actually responding to that, they sent back what looks like a copy-and-paste email talking about continuing the claim and even possible court action, completely ignoring the cancellation request.
It honestly feels like they either didn’t read the email properly or chose to ignore it.
We are now still waiting for proper written confirmation that everything has been cancelled, no fees will be charged, and personal data has been deleted.
If this isn’t sorted properly very soon, we’ll be reporting it to the Legal Ombudsman and the ICO.

Unbelievable business practices. My mother was contacted out of the blue by this firm regarding her motor finance. They claimed she had "cancelled" their services and demanded she pay extortionate hourly rates (£167 - £338/hr) for "work done."
She never consented to them representing her, never signed a contract, and only found out they were involved because her lender mentioned them. They have been asked to provide proof of a signed contract or consent and have completely ignored the request, opting instead to send threatening emails trying to bully her into staying with them.
We have issued a formal dispute and will be taking this straight to the legal Ombudsman and the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) if they do not drop this immediately. Absolutely predatory disgusting behaviour

We were offered £8000 before we entered the courtroom. We we're prepared to accept that but Hd legal tried to get an unrealistic amount. We would have got £2000 but hd legal tried to get £20,000. Now we come away with nothing. Great legal advice, I don't think so. I know they paid the court fees but they can afford that, we cannot.

I enquired about service on 31st January 2026 and provided some details. Before i knew it, i was getting calls and emails telling me that they are pursuing all previous car finance companies for claims. At every call i stated that I was not interested and didn't want to proceed, plus that i wanted them to remove all of my details from their system. I emailed stating this yesterday and today i was emailed back with a statement to invoice me for works carried out, even though i have stated several times that I am not interested in proceeding. I have no copies of signed agreement or approval for them to proceed on mu behalf, no emails from HD Law stating T&Cs and no update emails on said cases they are unknowingly pursuing. Beware, my experience highlights concerns around consent and UK GDPR. They say that they are investigating this now through call tracing and that if i stated this in the 14 day cooling off period, no charges will apply. I have not consented to any progressing of claims and all of this came on the back of an enquiry where someone asked my details. I may refer to Citizens Advice and ICO for their consideration.
I have since been contacted by a really helpful member of HD Law’s complaints team, Kevin, who apologised, cancelled the cases and confirmed no charges will be raised against me. He provided me with the signed document, which as i specified above, i did not complete - the signature was not mine.
I am please that this matter is now resolved and closed.

Exactly the same as other people have advised on here, I keep on receiving emails from this company regarding my i initial filling in of a form, and now when I have sent back an email saying please stop, I am not interested with a claim., they immediately send a passive aggressive email saying that I owe them money for their time to date. And I will have 7 days to pay!!!! I have just recovered from cancer and this is very stressful.

Hi,
I was wondering if there has been initial payouts on claims submitted in 2025?
It seems its taking forever...

Be very careful their advert on social media is misleading it states they can check if you have outstanding car finance claims.
But once you enter your name, address, email and telephone number they send an email asking you to click a large green button to start your claim. Which contradicts the advert that merely suggests it's just going to check and not start the claims process.
I will see if they forge my signature and launch a false claim, then I will be reporting them to the Police, Action Fraud and the Solicitors Regulations Agency.

Last week my daughter was on her face book and came accross their advert about car finance payback She contacted them about it putting in her details. I live in an annexe next to my daughter. They rang her back saying they already had an accountant that address in my name. My daughter said it couldn’t be me. ( I had told them I would not contact any finance company). They told her that I would have to pay them for any work they had done for me. She was upset when she came to see me. I told her I didn’t know the name of she gave me a number. I rang them and they told me I had requested this on line. The only one I had contacted was the Martin Lewis web site. Know I don’t know what I’ve done. They have emailed me this morning saying they will charge me for every minute they spent on me. The break of confidentiality and not being able to speak to them I am very upset I’m sorry this is so long

I had an extremely concerning experience with HD Law. I was contacted regarding a potential claim I did not clearly instruct them to proceed with, yet I later received communication suggesting I could be liable for fees for work carried out.
After challenging this, the firm ultimately confirmed they would not charge me and closed my file without taking further action. While the matter was resolved, the initial communication around cancellation fees felt unclear and left me feeling pressured and unsure about my position.
I would advise others to make sure they have complete clarity on instructions, costs, and written authorisation before allowing any work to proceed.

Straight forward very easy to complete

After being recommended by MSE I applied to have some finance agreements commission refunded. I then decided to cancel my application as this company charges 36% commission on my claim!! They are now saying that I’m committed to them claiming for me and I can’t stop them , beware!! Even after cancelling in writing!
