Bianca from Harvey Norman was great in all of her communication to help with the delivery of my couch. The couch delivery was delayed due to shipping delays and she was superb in keeping me in the loop with whereabouts of my furniture throughout. She was friendly and professional and went above and beyond with all her communications.

I WILL NEVER TRUST HARVEY NORMAN AGAIN

I bought file cabinets online. DON'T BUY THESE!!! Nowhere did the description say they came as a flat pack. Then we decided to try to put them together since we had them. The holes didn't line up!!!! YOU CAN'T PUT IT TOGETHER!!! When you ask for a refund because the product doesn't work, they say "If in any case, you would like to return the item that falls under the following reasons: (e.g. change of mind made a wrong selection, item did not meet expectation, etc.) unfortunately, we will be unable to accept the item. I CANT SAY IT ENOUGH --DON'T BUY THEM. I WILL NEVER TRUST HARVEY NORMAN AGAIN!!!

Dedicated customer service and helpful Sales manager

Early June, my PC crushed. I approached Harvey Norman to help me to retrieved all the data in this PC and then to a new one I intended to purchase. I met customer service guy: Hayato, who was friendly and helpful. In the next 2 days, he painstakingly recovered all the old data and transported to the new computer. Here I also would like to thank Sales manager Ash. He patiently listened to my requirements of a new computer and then recommended one to tailor my needs within my budget.
I was quite stressed out when I realized I wasn't able to use computer and was also not sure if all the data could be recovered. Harvey Norman's boys put all my worried out of the window. I am grateful to this pleasant experience Harvey Norman has given to me.

Avoid Harvey Norman Online Purchases Delivered from a 3rd Party!

Avoid Harvey Norman Online Purchases Delivered from a 3rd Party! If the item is not sold is store you cannot return the damaged or faulty item to a Harvey Norman Store. You are stuck dealing with the 3rd party with little or no way of getting the item replaced or money back. The Harvey Norman Online Team don’t respond to email except when pushed. They have been avoiding my emails and only responded when I managed to get through to them via the phone. Still getting stuffed around with the Hyundai Air Compressor I purchased over a month ago. It was Damaged during delivery and it has been a nightmare ever since. I’m at a loss how a company as Large as Harvey Norman can take an order Online with upfront payment but doesn’t take any responsibility when the item is delivered damaged. Since when is Harvey Norman exempt from Australia’s Consumer Laws.

I bought a laptop from HarvHarvey Norman Thomastown — Pushy with Warranties, Useless When Things Go Wrongey Norman…

I bought a laptop from Harvey Norman Thomastown and returned it less than 24 hours later due to multiple serious faults. The device — an Acer Aspire Lite — was essentially dead on arrival: extremely slow, unstable Wi-Fi, and a trackpad that stopped working within hours.
When I went back to the store with video proof of all the issues, I expected a basic level of support — or at the very least, a refund under Australian Consumer Law.

Instead, I was met with:

Excuses and deflection

Zero accountability

Staff hiding behind “Acer’s policy” and refusing to acknowledge their legal obligations as the retailer
This was a textbook case of poor customer service and a complete failure to honour consumer rights.
What makes this worse is that Harvey Norman is all smiles and full of promises when they’re selling you extended warranties — they push it hard during the sale like it’s a safety net. But the moment something goes wrong and the rubber hits the road, they vanish. Suddenly, the responsibility isn’t theirs anymore.
It’s a bait-and-switch experience: they talk a big game when closing a sale, but when the product is faulty, you're on your own.

Let me be crystal clear:

Do not trust Harvey Norman Thomastown

Do not expect support if something breaks

Do not fall for their extended warranty pitch

They’ve permanently lost my business, and I strongly encourage others to think twice before spending a cent here. You deserve better.

They are selling cheap and nasty…

They are selling cheap and nasty products at top prices. I had to have chest of draws delivered 4 times as each time they sent a replacement, it was damaged - runners weren't on straight, scratches down the front. Seems like the staff are used to this sort of issue "what do you want to do. We'll pick it up and issue refund or you can wait and order replacement." This went on for weeks.

Ordered a microwave from Harvey Norman online ‘cause I thought it’d be easier. Price was a bit exy compared to other sites, but I went for it anyway. Shipping took longer than they said, and the box rocked up with a dent in it. Microwave works alright but not as flash as I expected. No dramas getting my order in, but overall not good value

Great service from Harvey Norman Mount Barker

Great service from Harvey Norman Mount Barker staff, in particular Lucy and David. Product knowledge and advice was exceptional in purchasing our new range hood, which was in stock and picked up with no hassle. Not the first time we have benefitted from the professionalism at this store. Much appreciated, thanks for the enjoyable experience.

Think before buying...

If you're thinking about buying from the Harvey Norman Customer Direct website—don’t. Save yourself the frustration and shop elsewhere.

I had an issue with an item I purchased, and trying to get support was a nightmare. There is no way to speak to a real person—no phone number, no live chat. The only option is to email them, and it takes days to get a response. Every reply felt like it reset the conversation, and I ended up exchanging around 20 emails just to get a simple refund.

To make matters worse, the Customer Direct website is completely separate from the physical Harvey Norman stores. You can’t walk into a store for help, returns, or even basic support—they’ll just tell you they can’t assist with online orders.

It took 30 days of back-and-forth emails to finally get my refund. The whole process was slow, impersonal, and incredibly frustrating.

Bottom line: Don’t waste your time. If something goes wrong, you’ll be stuck in a long, drawn-out process with minimal support. Buy your item from a retailer that actually stands behind their service.

Absolutely no backup processes or procedures in place when IT issues occur

We purchased an item online for click and collect the next day at our local store (the item was listed as in-stock). Harvey Norman was happy to process the payment, but we received no email updates re the status of our order. Upon contacting the store directly we're told that their IT system is down, and they have no way of verifying our order, even though we have the order number issued by the website, the email confirmation, and proof of payment being taken from our bank account.

Using the Live Chat feature on the website, the support person was able to locate the order and confirmed that the IT issue means the store can't verify the order. The suggested solution was that we head in-store and buy the item again(!!), before requesting a refund of the online order. I asked whether someone at a head office/central location could contact the store directly to manually confirm the order and remediate the issue, but this seemingly simple workaround was ignored.

For a company that boasts you can "Shop with Confidence", I'm certainly not left feeling confident in their practices.

Purchased HP Smart Tank printer for around AU500. Piece of junk!! The paper continually misfeeds. Requires manual adjustment of the paper tray. Happens all the time. Harvey Norman Nunawading will not take the machine back or swap it for another brand as no fault codes. Do not buy this printer! My <$100 Canon 100% better.

Terrible customer service and shonky warranty process…

I purchased an airfryer and convection oven at the end of March this year. The airfryer setting worked fine. A few weeks later I used the oven setting for the first time. Shortly after setting to cook, the inside of the oven was filled with smoke and the fire alarms went off in my home. Once turned off and disconnected, the back of the oven was completely scorched. I contacted HN online, explaining what happened and included pictures. I explained I was cooking chicken breasts with no oil. I have had to follow up numerous times myself, just to get a response. Now they tell me I need to recreate the issue and video it. I have to prove again that the faulty oven is faulty. Not only is this a dangerous and irresponsible request with no regard for customer safety, it shows how shonky they are when it comes to upholding warranties. I have reported them to the ACCC and will see this out to its conclusion regardless of their delaying tactics. The customer service can only be accessed through email or live chat, allowing them anonymity in their dealings and zero accountability. Shame on you Harvey Norman online.

Crooks!

I ordered a samsung TV online and paid for it. The local store rang me to inform me that they dont have it in stock and offered me a inferior brand tv of equal value. I asked for a refund, and they stated that they had cancelled the order and that I had to request a refund online. I filled out two forms, over 3 days, requesting a refund. Both messages were ignored. I managed to make contact via online chat and requested a refund. They replied that the local store hadn't cancelled the order. Eventually the chat helper arranged to cancell the order and stated that it might take 8 working days to get a refund. * I should add that the chat employee was quite helpful.

I feel that this company deliberately advertises good deals on TV's (which they dont have) Take your money, then offer poor substitutes. It's a shifty business model. The customer has to battle to get a refund and wait a substantial time to recieve it.

Poor form Harvey Norman, Shame on you.

Buyers Beware!

Seiko watch not working

After buying a Seiko watch from Harvey Norman onlinein November 2024 I had problems with it, I returned it under warranty, it was returned to me and I was told there was nothing wrong with it. Having the same problems again. I have owned Seiko watches since 1968 and this would be the worst watch and service I have had. Starting to wonder if is a genuine Seiko. Update today 2/6/25. I have been in contact with Harvey Norman online again and today received an email stating that they are looking at my request for a full refund of the purchase price. Waiting for a decision now.

I rang the Coffs Harbour Store recently. Spoke with a salesperson - Cameron. I phoned to ask if there were two particular white good products in store.
My call was taken by Cameron at the store. Cameron was terrific, he was attentive to my questions, showed great efficiency and was very helpful. Well done Cameron!

Worst follow-up and customer service…

Worst follow-up and customer service follow through for faulty goods. I have asked multiple times for a refund as they are getting no where with the supplier. I have sent photos and videos. Why should I have to wait weeks for a resolution when I purchased the product direct from Harvey Norman. Horrible experience. Warning do not purchase online e goods from Harvey Norman. Only leads to disappointment, frustration, loss of money.

Washing machine advertised on page 2 of…

Washing machine advertised on page 2 of The West Australian newspaper on 10May25 for $649 (tiny print clearly displayed 'Ends 12/05/25') - so I went online at about 10am on 12May25 to order and and it showed the price as $698 - I then asked Harvey Norman's Chat-line why the difference and they came back with their BS saying it apparently ended at 11:59pm on 11May25 - since when does 'Ends 12/05/25' actually mean the day before on 11May?
DEFINITION QUESTION.
Does end date include that day?
Answer. If something is supposed to happen by a certain day, it means it is supposed to happen not later than that, so it includes the day as well.

I ordered a product online

I ordered a product online, only for delivery driver to deliver to the wrong address. I contacted customer service and was never given a response apart from an automated email. They have still not resolved my issue, and I had to organise delivery to correct address at my expense. DO NOT ORDER ONLINE, you will get no support or help if things go wrong.
