We would not camp anywhere else for Hay…
We would not camp anywhere else for Hay Literary Festival.
We stay at Gypsy Castle for the festival every year. It is just the best. Jamie and Phil, Carly and Joy look after us very well indeed - they are so cheerful and friendly and are very passionate about the site, keen to help in any way they can, nothing is too much trouble - they just want all their campers to have the best experience..
The site is relatively small and has a friendly atmosphere. Despite it being a pop up site for the festival, the showers are lovely and hot (so important when it's wet and chilly (!!), in fact they are the best we have ever experienced in a UK campsite (and we have been to a lot). The toilets are kept well stocked with soap, lotion and good quality hand towels.
There are the additional facilities enabling campers to charge their phones and a marquee for drinks and snacks.
It is very reasonably priced.
Great location for Hay Literary Festival (a few minutes walk), walking distance to Hay-on-Wye and great views of Festival and surrounding country side.
All in all it is a great experience and we wouldn't stay anywhere else.
Superb
