Horrible
Horrible! As a freelancer, I have lost hundreds of dollars to people who have hired me and did not pay. Their 'Safepay' system is not safe at all. In one case, I was hired to do a job, and then the employer hired someone else without my knowledge. Meanwhile, I spent hours completing the job and then the employer said, "I already paid someone else to do it". I put it into arbitration which was worthless, I got pennies of what I should have.
I currently have money due me locked up in Safepay and the other person won't complete their ridiculous identity verification process, and they are no help.
poor quality of work
poor quality of work. not find any good windows developer. find multiple bids but no one suitable for my project.
Appalling website DO NOT USE
Appalling website DO NOT USE. I just lost $900 to a developer who failed to deliver any part of the project as agreed. The escrow "SafePay" system is a farce. It automatically releases funds to the developer whatever. The developer claimed to be an expert but was hopeless, I thought I was protected but I wasn't. A disgrace - DO NOT USE.
The worst Freelance website of all time
The worst Freelance website of all time. The 'jobs' posted are posted by scammers. Tried to log into my Freelance account today and it said it did not exist???? No warning, just wiped me off the site with no reason. Glad they do not have my money!! Stay away from this bunch of crooks!
Website that attracts a lot of scammers…
Website that attracts a lot of scammers and people who cannot deliver what they promise.
Safepay is pointless because even after Guru recognise the freelancer have delivered you something that does not meet the specification and is of little or no use to use, they still pay the freelancer. Unbelievable when the contract was based on milestones and not hours spent. So I ended up paying over 50% for something that is of absolutely no use and contractual liability only arises for after the delivery of milestones. Scammers will continue to overpromise and deliver things that don't meet the specs.
It's a scam!
It's a scam! They find any excuse to hold funds and terminate accounts. Steer away from those crooks!
They are Scam
They are Scam. The project I posted they removed it For no reason and then told me I have to submit my Passport and Ids first. LOL.
Its simple, They would sale the ID to others, Thats how they are making Money. Stay Away
it was amazing
I will give 0 star to this stupid site
bad user experience hard to browse the site and there is better sites like fiverr and freelancer , upwork , not recommended at all I will give 0 star to this stupid site
Take time to learn the system.
I have been working on Guru for over five years now, and I can make as little or as much as I want each month. Although some complained about "deleting negative feedback," Guru has NEVER allowed freelancers or employers to delete all their negative feedback. In fact, only 10% (based on your earnings) of your feedback could be deleted-positive or negative; employer or freelancer. So if I only earned $500, I could only delete $50 worth of feedback. And as of today, Guru has revoked this feature making it more difficult on everyone who wants to remain on the site long term. It is impossible to please everyone all the time, and that feature helped prevent fraud (people asking you to do the work, changing the job, not paying you, and then blackmailing you into giving them no feedback or good feedback).
The problem is that many first time users don't know how the system works, don't understand how to get jobs or post jobs, and don't want to take time to learn it. Guru is designed for long-term freelancers and employers.
If you fund SafePay, the money does not come out automatically unless a Freelancer sends you an invoice, AND it has been more than seven days since that invoice has posted. Guru will send you reminders every day or two that the invoice is waiting for your approval. There is no way for a freelancer to get money without doing the work unless you are lax about taking care of your business. Likewise, once SafePay is funded, you can get that money through arbitration. If you don't wait for funding as a freelancer, if you don't dispute a project, then yes, you will lose money on Guru just as you would any other place that did not have this feature. However, the SafePay feature will protect you if you use it correctly.
Yes, learning Guru can be difficult, but there are many protective features available for those willing to try. It sounds like most of the dissatisfied people on here didn't understand the system before they used it and didn't ask others for help first. The funny thing is that these problems they complain about could have happened on any other freelance website.
Jobs don't pay up
Jobs don't pay up! "Safepay" is a complete con. We're owed money by two "clients" now for work well done. The dialogue between us was very positive so had no reason to think they wouldn't pay. Basically, they just closed their accounts and left with their work done for free!
Well reviewed gurus are actually incompetent
If you need to hire great talent that can get the job done right the first time, run away from guru.com.
Gurus can delete their own negative feedback, so why would anyone bother leaving any feedback in the first place?
When you post a job you may get 50 responses, but how can you determine who is capable and who is not? The review function won't help you out here. Gurus spam you claiming they can handle the work, when they cannot.
Worst of all, Gurus can set up the job/agreement to bill you in a very confusing way and if you're not watching closely, they'll get your money out of escrow/safe pay before they do any work at all. Then what leverage do you have left to get the project delivered? If this happens, guru tech support will just blame you for the error.
Highly recommend finding another source where quality of service and repeat business appear to be more common goals of the platform.
EDIT: The guru finally acknowledged they had not managed things on my $1000+ project and asked me for another 2 week extension or a refund of the escrow money. I accepted the refund. Then, while "withdrawing" the funds back to my credit card, Guru adds insult to injury by assessing a 3.5% "transaction fee" for the convenience.
Do not use Guru.com!
I posted a job on their website and got a quote from a freelancer for $250.00. The freelancer then sent me an invoice for 50% which I paid. After I paid 50% upfront, he managed to automatically take the full $250.00 from 'safepay'. I was confused as I had now paid $375 for a job which was only $250. When I contacted Guru.com, they told me that I shouldn't have paid the 50% deposit he sent me. I contacted the freelancer who told me he would refund the $250 if I paid him another $125 which I did. Guru.com charged me $9 handling fee for returning my money to me. After all that, the freelancer was terrible and couldn't complete the tasks he quoted for.
Freelancers can delete their own negative feedback
If you had a bad experience with a freelancer, and place a bad review, they can delete it (they call it " blocked"), they just have to pay.
If you see well, you will hardly see negative feedback. I hired 2 guru's, both a disaster, but in their review they look wonderful!
Also the site is full of scammers.
The site is ok on payments and withdrawing of money, but is totally unreliable. There are better freelancer choices where feedback can not be deleted, so you know other employers experience.
Full of fraudulent "gurus"
Beware of scammers on this site - and also note that Guru do not let you negatively review gurus on their website after a bad experience
Their support will not help you and you will lose money when a problem arises
Simply A Waste
Whether you are a buyer or a Freelancer, it'll disappoint you. The worse garbage out there.
I'm new here but it looks promising.
I've been on the platform for less than a month and have already got substantial amount of business.
Hopeful of doing good business in the future as well.
Really good, but...
I am a freelance developer and agency owner.
Guru.com has a good approach to escrow and their team works great for all clients (including freelancers).
Anyway It would be better if they managed to attract more projects for programmers & engineers. It would be even better than best if they stopped to use lagging microsoft's techs sometimes I wait 5 min to get an error response from the server (what century it it guys?).
=^_^=
Guru is great when you have talent to offer and find the right clients
I've been working through this website for years and it's very good. The customer support is very fast and helpful. It's very recommended for reliable and talented freelancers and clients who need work done excellently.
