Gumtree took my money twice with Nothing in Return!!

Gumtree took my money twice, Without anything in return !!!
I am a massage therapist with 8 years of experience.
I posted a very professional add with spa photos, candles.
No suggestion of any adult service not so ever and my advert was never published on Wednesday 16th November 2022 so I posted one more time on Thursday, 12th Jan 2023 thinking there was a mistake on the 16th November. They took my money £37.99 for the second time so I ended up paying nearly £80 for something I never received.
I called for weeks, wrote emails and never got my money back.
I didn't post anything unethical..!
I am married and mother of two.
I also offer nail & hair services as well as gents, ladies and sports, deep tissue massage. I can't reach anyone asking for my money. I am rubbed!

Gumtree is dead - just bots and scammers

This way of selling is dead. Don't waste your time. When placing an ad you will immediately get the 'Hi, is this item still available?' message. These are gumtree bots designed to pretend that someone has Interest in your item to try and give you a false impression that people are interested in your item. It's all fake. It's just a way for gumtree to increase traffic numbers which then increases revenue for them with advertisers.

2nd fact is that whether you put an email or phone number down you will instantly be called up by scam companies or hit with a ridiculous amount of spam/scam emails. Gumtree claims that your email address isn't visible to buyers. So, if that's the case then its actually Gumtree who are selling your email address and details to 3rd party companies without permission. I actually use a fake name on Gumtree because of the amount of weirdos on gumtree (more on that later) and I have never used that name anywhere else. I then got a spam email 5 mins after posting on gumtree addressed to my fake name. This is why I know 100% that gumtree is just a fake website designed to make money of your personal details.

3rd one is, if you do manage to speak to an actual human 99% of the time they are degenerate plebs who struggle with basic English. Tramps pretty much. Want everything for free and for you to deliver. These folk live on a different planet to the rest of us

It's just not worth it. People need to stop being gullible and using this site. The sooner everyone stops using it, the sooner it will disappear!

Never going to advertise with them again!!

I wish there was a 'no star' review for Gumtree!! I have been advertising my lessons as a teacher for more than 10 years and they have increased from £7.99 to £24.99 with no warning! So obviously I no longer advertise with them. Absolutely disgusting!!!!!

Gumtree are liars.

Gumtree are liars.
Yes, that's a strong claim but one I can prove so I'm not worried about stating it publically.
If you are fed up or annoyed by them lying about you supposedly breaking their T&C (when you obviously haven't) then demand your data.
Every company must, by Law, furnish you with all data they hold and communications made. Gumtree tried telling me "No" so I reported them.
The data arrived the day before the deadline.
Do it - show this useless bunch of liars that they are accountable.

Scumtree

Gumtree, cough cough, Scumtree are a personal data grabbing bunch of theives. Do not post your for sale items on their website. You will instantly be bombarded by their AI/Chatbots pretending to be buyers. Multiple "is this still available" when it was only posted 2 seconds ago. They will also remove your listing for no reason so you would have to be a complete fool to think about giving them your money and bank details. Customer service is just an AI auto reply that refers you to the terms and conditions etc that you haven't broken?!

Forget selling ... this is like a labour-intensive charity.

I've been on Gumtree for just over a month now, having placed about 20 ads in that time. By what must only be a fluke, I managed to sell something to a very nice couple from nearby. All the other attempts at ads, though they have a lot of views and interest, seem to elicit no messages from potential buyers. There is also the scam element whenever I post something new - someone gets in touch with some lame story about the app not loading and giving me an email address with which to get in touch. This is a known Gumtree scam and has happened to me about a dozen times ... very shabby. I never respond though. Not sure what the procedure is on Gumtree but it reminds me of a labour intensive charity. You list something at a crazy low price after taking pictures and creating the ad ... and then crickets. The good news is that there is still Ebay which works MUCH better and that local charity shops are usually willing to take things which is a better outcome than selling them for nearly nothing on Gumtree. Very disappointing experience overall.

Appalled by the shocking level of service and rudeness

Posted various ads as I am selling furniture in my flat. 2 ads went ahead, the others kept being removed. Same type of ads, description, just different items, so I was naturally confused.
Talked to customer service, they said they would sort it out. Nothing happened. Contacted again today by chat to someone called Nora: I was blocked and got an email stating:
"Your account has been restricted, in reviewing your account we can see that you aren't complying with our rules, to the level where we think it is better that you no longer use our website.
We will not be able to remove this restriction at this time and we will not be able to provide you with any more information on the matter."
I am simply appalled by the shocking level of service, rudeness and way I have been treated.
