Window unit failure

Moved to a property that had the windows replaced by this company in 2023, and one of the triple glazed units has failed. Contacted them and as the guarantee is on the person who purchased the windows refused to do anything, guarantee a waste of time as surely the window should be guaranteed not the owner. Do not want to even discuss despite window only 3 years old. Must be terrible quality windows to go like this. Don't touch with a barge pole!!!!!

Poor quality

Poor quality, wrong windows installed, and no responsibility when things go wrong

GS Windows Ltd were contracted by the builder we bought the property from to install triple-glazed French doors. They initially installed the wrong windows — double-glazed instead of triple — and had to come back to replace them. The builder was already unhappy with the quality of the work at that stage.

Less than five years later, one of the internal panes spontaneously shattered, with no impact or misuse. This is likely due to nickel sulphide inclusion, a known defect in toughened glass.

Despite this being a serious failure of the product, GS Windows refused to help. They claimed no guarantee was ever issued and dismissed the issue as not their responsibility. They also refused to discuss it further with us, citing data protection, even though they installed the product and we live in the property.

The lack of accountability, poor customer service, and dismissive attitude is deeply disappointing. If anything goes wrong after installation, you may find yourself completely unsupported, even when the fault is clearly not yours.

Excellent Service.

I had a replacement bay window, bedroom window and composite front door fitted. The estimating and ordering process was fairly straight forward with no hard selling tactics and the fitters turned up as promised.

Due to the condition of the old double glazing which I was told was about 40 years old and the state of the bay window I think the fitting took a bit longer than expected but was still completed in a day.

I'll be getting some more windows re glazed when I can afford to and will definitely go back to GS Windows.

GS Windows - Could'nt even get a quotation right

I went to GS Windows (and some other companies) for quotes for a conservatory. A salesman/surveyor turned up (Keith), who measured up and discussed what we wanted making notes on an A4 pad...all sounded fine, but we then had to wait for a builder to turn up (sub-contractor) to look at what needed doing for the base/dwarf wall and 3/4 wall on one side.
We then had to chase the Salesman to get the quote, which when it arrived was wrong. wrong size of conservatory, missed the 3/4 wall out with obscure lights completely, making is a 600mm dwarf wall, and the specification for the footings was incomplete and lacked detail on insulation size/type and depth of concrete strip foundations etc...etc...
Not surprisingly we did not give GS Windows the work, and I sent a polite email to all three companies who submitted quotes but were not getting the work, thanking them for the quotes etc but the work had gone to another company - which is i though the least I could do so they knew, rather than not respond at all. I was amazed to receive an acerbic response fro Keith, who had thought I had address the email to him under the name of another company, as he had simply failed to read to whom the email was sent - three companies - and his email address (not a GS Windows email address, but a private email address on his business card), was not first in the names of the three addressees...
Overall, not a great experience, and speaking as a retired Civil Engineer, far from professional. The quotation for both the civil works and the conservatory was a mess, both incorrect and sloppy attention paid to detail... Based on my experience I would not recommend this company to anyone wanting a new conservatory built.

Replacement windows

I had some replacement windows and doors fitted in a victorian house. The kitchen door and window were far from standard dimensions and linked together. They did an amazing job. Also managed to keep the character of the window surrounds and insert UPVC. Really happy with the job. Now having the rest of the house done. Good prices. Good service.

Poor aftersales

All seemed good when James Hall visited to give us a quote. We went ahead. Unfortunately after the windows were fitted, we had issues with them. I contacted James, who prior to installation said to be in touch if any problems. No response. Just plain rude and I would not use this company again.

Great Experience

It was a great experience from start to finish. Ben came out to see us first and we agreed the works we wanted. Then a date and time was agreed for the surveyor to visit. We were then given an installation date, which was moved by one day but not surprising with the weather we have had. The installer arrived on time on the agreed day and did an excellent job and left everywhere really clean and tidy. We highly recommend GS Windows for price, customer service and quality.
