Great all round experience

Several purchases of same hypoallergenic good quality grain free dry dog food from growling tums for two fussy dogs never had any issues.
The website is easy to navigate food is reasonably priced even when paying for delivery which for me is excellent as I always order in a morning Monday to Thursday for prompt next day delivery 90% of the time. Excellent all round service for us.

Absolutely shocking customer service

Absolutely shocking customer service. I was told my complaint was 'silly', and that because I had ordered this food before I 'should have known better'. I had indeed ordered this type before, months ago. I thought that I was ordering a different type as the size of the kibble in the photo next to the bag was of small kibble, hence that is what I thought I was going to get. Laura at Growling Tums kept saying that the kibble looks different sizes depending on device used. Ridiculous! If you look on their web pages the photographs do not consistently represent the food within the bags. One minute she was saying the photographs were 'examples' of the food, then she was saying the photographs ARE the same as the food within the bags. As the customer how am I supposed to know whether they are examples or a true representation of the food? I told her my dog needed smaller kibble as he is having problems with his teeth. She didn't seem to care, which I found very shocking as I thought they cared about dogs. The emails I received were patronising, condescending and rude. I've never received customer service like it and I've noticed others have also been on the receiving end of her appalling behaviour. Luckily there are plenty of great dog food brands out there for me to choose from.

Awful customer service

Unfortunately when placing an order it didn’t process so I pressed place order button again and now have been charged for two bags of food. I contacted the company as soon as I noticed hoping they would be helpful and cancel one of the bags of food. The lady I dealt with via email was Laura and she said that it was unlikely she could cancel it as it is processed immediately. Even though this was evening time. I asked about refusing delivery so it gets returned to them but was told it has to be sent to a different address and this would result in me not receiving a refund. I sent an email saying I wasn’t impressed, her response was rather shocking… she said of course you aren’t impressed cos you haven’t got your own way. I was gobsmacked. I have never received treatment like this from a company. Due to this I will never be purchasing dog food from them again and will inform my friends that use it for their dogs to be extremely careful if they encounter any issues as they could be treated in an unprofessional way.

Helped my fussy frenchie

My frenchie cross went off his usual over a week ago and wasn't eating. I got my order of Haddock dog food today from growling tums and he he couldn't get enough of it. He loved it! I'll deffo before ordering here from now on. I like how the food is hypoallergenic as he can only pork, fish and rabbit . It was like a factory reset for my dog.

Very poor insecure packaging

Both my dogs have the super food in all 4 flavours so they have a variety of taste. so I order 4 x 6kg bags at a time..my gripe is the packaging, the cartons are sealed with just one strip of clear adhesive tape which has invariably come loose so the carton is open every delivery......no matter how many times you bring it to the attention of the company nothing is done about it.

Hostile, petty, vindictive DROP SHIPPER

Rather than saying “thank you for the information, we will look into it,” and “we understand that some customers have different preferences so we will look into expanding our range,” the rude lady snapped at me for very nicely pointing out that ALL (bar one) if their foods are filled with a high content of legumes which are PROVEN (google this yourself) to block taurine absorption in dogs which leads to heart failure.

I wasn’t slagging them off. I was very polite. I simply stated that due to this reason, since they don’t make their own food, they are simply white label distributors for AG Pet Foods who produce food for shops under various names, if they could add more foods that do not contain legumes, as any sensible person would want after the DCM information was brought to light.

Their one offering is in their lowest tier range and they use dehydrated meat meal in it instead of fresh meat like their premium options. So I was just asking for a premium option with fresh meat and rice and no legumes.

She responded with hostility. And disabled my log in so I can’t even see my previous orders!

If you like Growling Tums, there are many other brands that are the exact same food sold under different labels.

Growling Tums is just a DROP SHIPPER! They drop ship from AG Pet Foods! With a terrible attitude to boot. JUST BE NICE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!

Have a very picky bulldog who has turned his nose up at so many foods or doesn't suit his stomach. Have tried few flavours of growling tums and all have gone down well. Had dealings with customer service who were helpful, friendly and professional. Is cheaper brands aswel as more expensive but for me is more than worth the money and happy to reccomend

Stumbled across this food a couple of…

Stumbled across this food a couple of years ago after the food that the vet recommended for my dog with pancreatitis a few years before wasn’t really working anymore. My dog is nearly 14 and has pancreatitis, she is on the Growling Tums Salmon and Trout light senior food. We use to have to have her anal gland emptied every month and now thanks to this food, it rarely needs doing. We feed her a 'meat free' diet and this works well for her. Thank you Growling Tums for producing a fantastic food.

Here's some good info since other reviews are bunk

Looking for online reviews before making my first purchase, I stumbled upon exactly why the internet can be terrible. The internet is ruining people and taking away all manners and sense of honour and respect. Case in point: all the nonsensical negative reviews made by crusty people against this seller. People complaining about £6 for shipping? Thanks to Amazon for completely ruining people's expectations of the cost of doing business in the real world. Small companies are not huge corporations. We run a small business ourselves and we know that £6 (now £7 at the time when I ordered from Growling Tums) is absolutely nothing for a 12kg large box! Unbelievable anyone would leave that as a negative review. More like unjustified slander.

No, I am not affiliated with Growling Tums. I haven't dealt with their customer service, so I can't speak to their attitude. Maybe I would complain about that if they aren't nice and helpful. So time will tell on that front.

But as a small business owner, I found the reviews here unfair. So I ordered anyway. No, the shipping was not as fast as Amazon Prime. I'm adult enough to think ahead and re-order before my bag gets too low. We ordered at the holidays and had the parcel within 3 business days. Not bad if you ask me. I did not have any packaging issues.

On to the food review. First off, this is a private label food meaning the same exact food is sold by small boutiques under their own branding. Don't let that put you off. The manufacturer is GA Pet Food Manufacturers. So I looked into them. There's a lot to like. It's a family owned, UK based business (the manufacturers) who sell to private label (boutique brands like Growling Tums).
They have proprietary technology for extracting nutrition from foods so the dog food has more nutrition than others using other methods. Most importantly, they cook the food at a very low heat compared to standard commercial food. People don't know that heat blasted commercial dog food is carcinogenic. Dog food cooked at lower temperatures retains more nutrition and much lower risk of cancer. Big reason to buy.

They have foods at different price points. Their foods with grains look excellent compared to supermarket foods, especially with the low cook temperature method. But they also offer grain free.

Some of the foods are high protein content. My first order was for the Gourmet Venison boasting 50% real meat. We compared to Harrington's Super Foods which we had in the house, similar total protein content but Harrington's was bulking up the protein with legumes (not great for dogs) and had far less real meat.

Their Super Foods line looks great. The Buffalo or Bison one was incredibly high protein, but also much higher price point. I don't think my budget can handle it but I'd love to have my dogs on that one.

Researching this GA Pet Foods, I found that there are many brands selling their foods under their own "white label." But none that I found were selling it at a lower price than Growling Tums, most were selling £5-£15 higher.

All in all, I think they have very good food offerings suiting different needs. I prefer high meat content so I will stick with their offerings of 50% real meat. I also have large breeds and am interesting in large breed foods. I will wait until they add more large breed options and try that. I believe I did see added glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM to the ingredients on the large breed dog food, saving me from having to buy that separately and mixing in.

I do not know these people and receive no benefit from making this review. But I wanted to put something out with good information after the absolute codswallup I found trying to find any reviews before my purchase. Hopefully it helps people make an informed decision.

Poor Knowledge About Pet Food - so how do we trust them to provide healthy options?

I am so annoyed - Growling Tums write about tear staining as if they were an expert and they cite certain products of theirs as recommended to help and they direct people to their full list of hypoallergenic options and many of these options are not hypoallergenic at all. Chicken, pork, beef (perhaps lamb too) and offal are all known to contain porphyrin which is what causes tear staining - these products are not hypoallergenic - hypoallergenic meats are the rarer lesser used meats like turkey, duck, goose and venison, boar perhaps but as it is pig related may also contain porphyrin…

i hope they get their facts straight before they set themselves up as educators and try to speak with authority about things they clearly know nothing about.

expensive delivery

We ordered the sample packs which were a reasonable cost. The dogs loved it, However when I came to reorder although the price for a large bag was comparable with similar dog foods on the market, however £6.00 delivery is ridiculous and this put me off as it makes it expensive every month. £72 per year just in postage cost!!
