Morrisons started life as a bustling egg, milk and butter market stall in Yorkshire back in 1899 – firmly planting its roots as a fresh-focused grocer with an appetite for providing quality and value on the same plate. Now, with 491 stores as well as a fast-growing online shopping service at Morrisons.com the business continues to focus on delivering freshness and quality to millions of customers across the UK - wherever they want to shop for their groceries. Foodmakers and shopkeepers at heart, we have over 9,000 trained butchers, bakers, fishmongers, cheesemongers and other skilled in-store specialists making more food in store than any other retailer. Morrisons is also the only British supermarket to have its own sites making meat, fruit & veg, fish, bakery and fresh food products – and is unique in preparing and making more than half of the fresh food sold in our stores.

I’m writing this to express my complete disappointment with Morrisons following the dismissal of Sean Egan. From what’s been reported, this was a member of staff with 29 years of service who found himself in a difficult and potentially dangerous situation, trying to do what he believed was the right thing when faced with an aggressive shoplifter.
Rather than supporting a long-serving employee who was clearly put under pressure, Morrisons’ response feels cold and unjust. It sends a worrying message about how staff are valued, especially those who have dedicated decades of their working lives to the company.
Because of the way this situation has been handled, I have no intention of shopping at Morrisons again. I would also strongly urge others to consider whether they want to support a business that treats its employees in this manner.
Sacking the Manager of the Aldridge store is disgraceful after he tried to uphold the security of customers, staff and the company assets. I would love to see the board of directors in a store being spat at and being treated aggressively. Just because Morrisons is owned by an investment company laden down with huge debts in London doesn't mean you can treat people like dirt. I hope customers shop elsewhere, like Lidl at Walsall Wood and Morrisons goes bust. Arrogant and hypocritical directors of a company who thinks they are correct. Look at what's happening to the Labour party! They are incompetent arrogant imboceles
We’ve used Morrisons for our food delivery for 6 years now and have generally been pleased with the service we’ve received. Unfortunately over the weekend our online order was missing 2 bags of food equating to £49. On ringing customer services and them doing some ringing around they informed us that the missing food would be delivered in the next half an hour. Two hours later and still no delivery. On calling customer services back we were informed that the driver has accidentally given our food to the wrong customer and the only option was a refund.
Why did nobody contact us to say they would not be delivering the food? Not only were we now out of pocket and missing the food we needed to host our friends that evening, but we’d also wasted out entire Sunday morning waiting in and then having to go to the supermarket anyway. I’ve contacted Morrisons expressing my upset but am yet to hear back from them, which just adds insult to injury.
To add that despite me submitting a complaint to Morrisons directly over a week ango and responding to Morrisons request for information on trustpilot, I’ve still not had any correspondence from them. Disappointing.

I am utterly disgusted to hear of the gentleman on the news this morning , sacked for dealing with shoplifter in the way he did . No wonder shops are shutting down when thieves just walk in and take stock knowing that nothing will be done !!!. Terrible world and shame on yourselves for advocating this behaviour . This man had given 29yrs of loyal service and this is how he is repaid .He deserves an apology and pay rise for his treatment . The thief is having the last laugh . So awful and needs to be sorted as I do not want to shop anymore in Morrisons and I know a good many more who don’t !!!!
Disgusting the way you have treated that poor manager with 29years service when all he was trying to do was protect your company. A warning would have been suffice, not dismissal . I will never shop in any of your stores again and hope everyone else does the same!
Disgusting place. Sacking staff for stopping shoplifting is a disgrace I would earge anyone and everyone to boycott your supermarkets you don't deserve to have good people work for you absolute disgrace.
Shame on Morrisons sacking manager that took on shop lifter and spat on for the pleasure.
Wake up the public are sick of shoplifters and weak action by supermarkets.
As lad did part-time at Whelans St Helens in 1974 - shopped at Morrisons for 50 yrs - gone to Aldi.
Your sacking of a manager who tackled a shoplifter is a disgrace and if your 'correct' processes lead to this outcome then it says everything I need to know about your HR departments and your board. I shall, like many others I know, try to shop
After watching this evening's news I will no longer spend my money in your store because of, Sea Egan. You have treated him abysmally.
Shame on you Morrisons.
I’ve just watched the news and saw the report on Sean Egan the manager of your Aldridge store sacked for trying to stop a prolific shop lifter.
You should be ashamed of yourselves! Taking a softly softly approach with criminals, especially shop lifters is one of many reasons why this country is in the mess it’s in. Mr Egan has worked for your company for 29 years! You should be proud of his actions and reflect this in your treatment of him.
I will no longer be shopping at my local Morrisons store.
Come on Morrisons, 29 years service and 1 mistake and you sack him, re-instate Sean Egan or I will never shop with you again and I think a lot of other people will feel the same, SHAME ON YOU!
The giffnock store in Glasgow looks like it's going bankrupt. There's so many empty spaces in the fresh produce isle it's embarrassing, and what's there is old and wrongly labelled. A a lot of other areas in the store are missing stock too. Lots of the freezers are leaking or the lights in them aren't working. The whole place just looks dingy and none too clean. Their prices are also uncompetitive.Unfortunately it seems just to be getting worse as time passes. I've also just heard about the poor guy in the Aldridge branch who was sacked for stopping a shoplifter. You go out of your way to make sure shoplifters feel comfortable in your stores , shame you couldn't do that for the rest of us.
Morrisons is my local, so convenient. That's all it is though, the staff are miserable and lazy, or nowhere to he seen, half the self checkouts don't work, the shop is tatty, poorly stocked, and besides all that, they sack loyal hardworking staff for apprehending a criminal who spat on him, spitting is assault BTW Morrisons. Pull your socks up fgs.
Morrisons have mistreated an amazing member of staff Sean Egan who worked at the Aldridge store for 29 years and turned around various underperforming stores. Morrisons you should be ashamed of yourselves. You prioritise a criminal over a loyal member of staff? I used to buy loads of Morrison's food but will never again buy anything from Morrison's as a result of your actions.
Update 22nd April. You can see from their reply how Morrison's is a supermarket that truly cares... Make your decision about where you shop - they've lost my custom.
I have been a constant customer of Morrisons for any years .But iam disgusted by their treatment of a loyal employee of 30 years service. Who was sacked due to his intervention of a prolific shoplifter .HR should hang their heads in shame for the treatment of their Manager And hopefully see sense and reinstate the guy.Imagine the scenario the good guy gets sacked for what the biggest majority of people would think was doing the right thing .In the mean time myself and many other will be shopping else where!!
While I use Morrisons, but not as my main store, I was most distressed to read that a manager has been sacked for tackling shoplifters. These people cost me and other shoppers as the losses are made up on prices. I will only in desperation now use the stores. Why do those sitting on high defend thieves at the cost of honest shoppers, managers, staff and security staff who lose out. This country has gone way wrong now.
I placed an online grocery order with Morrisons for 10 x 10kg rice bags at £10 each.
Without my consent, they substituted the product with a completely different rice priced at £25 per bag — meaning I was charged more than double what I agreed to pay.
This is unacceptable. Substitutions should never result in a higher charge without clear customer approval.
It’s now been over a month:
* No collection of the incorrect items
* No refund processed
* Multiple promises made, but no follow-through
* Long gaps with no communication
Every time I contact customer service, I’m told a collection will be arranged — then nothing happens.
I’m now left out of pocket with unwanted goods and no resolution.
Very disappointing first experience. I expected better from a major supermarket.
I would strongly advise others to be cautious with substitutions and pricing.

Sacking your manager for stopping shoplifters is appalling... Wake up ya bunch of virtue signal clowns.. I won't be back in your supermarket until you reinstate him.
How stupid of Morrisons! They need to reinstate Sean Egan and give him a bonus! All I am seeing if they do not, is that thousands and thousands of people will be buying their weekly shop at a rival supermarket, they also need to change their policy on shop lifting! Sean did the right thing, he was looking after the interests of the Morrisons family. Come on Morrisons do the right thing, give Sean his job back, and a bonus, just think how many more customers you will get by doing this! Morrisons management, you made a mistake, you have the power to put this right! And Morrisons response NFA! Unbelievable! Last time I buy anything from Morrisons! And there must be many, many customers of Morrisons that will do the same!
