Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 271 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed dissatisfaction with the delivery service, citing issues such as late arrivals, missing items, and unwanted substitutions. People also reported problems with product quality, including items with short use-by dates, mouldy produce, and even a dead spider found in biscuits. The ordering process was often described as difficult, with frequent website crashes and unfulfilled orders. Furthermore, many consumers found the customer service unhelpful and unresponsive, struggling to get refunds or resolve issues. However, some people mentioned positive experiences with the delivery drivers, describing them as friendly and helpful. A few customers also reported receiving their orders on time and with all items present, occasionally even receiving better substitutions for out-of-stock products.

Absolute joke of a delivery service

Absolute joke of a delivery service. Frequently don't turn up. Charge for a delivery slot but don't keep to it. Website almost impossible to use. How on earth do asda expect to keep customers when they provide such a dreadful service?

I’ve been very happy with my online grocery deliveries. All the staff have been friendly and helpful!
Rex, who delivered to me in Hedge End today, was especially great.
Overall, it’s been a very positive experience.

It would be nice to see more people share their good experiences too, rather than only posting negative reviews!

Pathetic App

Unfortunately I have had the misfortune to use this poor excuse for a home shopping app
Compared to Tesco, Sainsbury and Morrison this app is pathetic useless
I'm sick of having to call Asda "customer service"just to get an order

What a miserable experience Asda is.

What a miserable experience! I've just used the Asda website for the last time. Like thousands of other poor customers, I have spent hours compiling a shopping order only for the website checkout to crash. Again. "We can't take payment right now". This has happened to me dozens of times. Inflated prices, poor products, shoddy website. Well, you can keep it Asda. This customer has had enough. My delivery pass is cancelled. My account is cancelled. Like thousands of others, I've had enough. Bye bye.

Asda crewe

Asda crewe - 4 items missing from delivery. Went online and asked for a refund and it's rejected. Phoned customer service and it's Asda "policy" to automatically reject every refund request. The customer has to wait 24 hours to request again??
Asked customer service to contact the store to organise delivery of the missing items, was told they would come back later that night. No delivery came.
On last months shopping, delivery didn't add up to the figure they were showing on the delivery receipt. Only noticed because it's a shared shop so the bill gets split.
How many more customers are Asda overcharging who don't add up their bill?!

Tonight

Tonight, Asda Crewe delivered most of our groceries, but not all of them. So we phoned our local store, the call went through to a call centre in India, the guy on the phone instantly replied that he would get the missing items to us within an hour. Now that was an amazing promise as he hadn't taken our name or address or any details of the order. Eventually he accidentally left us connected whilst he spoke to someone in Crewe, it was clear that whoever he was talking to couldn't care less and refused to take the call himself. Finally the call centre guy, again promised to get the order to us within an hour. So Asda, your not only incompetent as a company, but worse still, you employ a bunch of liars who prefer to lie to customers instead of sorting problems out, I call that downright disgusting. To make this appalling service worse, they have refused to refund the money we have spent on the items that were not delivered.

Completely Ineffective Complaint Resolution

I contacted Asda over 2 months ago now to lodge a formal complaint because they advertised products with free delivery but when i put those products in my basket they then tried to charge me for delivery. That is simply dishonest and misleading advertising. They continue to kick my complaint down the road without resolution and say that they have escalated my complaint but fail to give details of timescale for their final response despite that being requested. In short they do not really care about their customers and seem very happy to delay and prevaricate as long as possible in the hope that i will just give up and go away. I am preparing a full report to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) because dishonest and misleading advertising to induce customers to buy is simply not an acceptable and lawful practice. If you have had the same experience you should also make a formal report to ASA in order to stamp out this inappropriate marketing practice.

I have never dealt with such an awful company as Asda! We have been a customer for quite sometime mostly having our orders delivered as I do not drive as I am classified as disabled now. We placed our order for delivery today, was informed its on the way, then we get an email (still within our delivery slot time) they have cancelled!! this is the SECOND time in a row now, both times we are here sitting around waiting like idiots, we call to find out why....driver cannot find our address!!! funny how everyone else can, as I said to them it was a blatant lie and they know it. We are now going to take this further as now I have struggle to find someone to get my shopping for me I do have a carer but he does not drive. Stay WELL CLEAR I certainly will not be going back again

Paid for express service

Paid for express service. Uber repeatedly tried to collect order the store didn’t have ready before finally cancelling. The order still shows as prepared. Rang customer services twice, both unable to cancel the order or say whether it would or wouldn’t be delivered. Order 10:00-11:00. Still not arrived or refunded at 15:00. Shockingly poor service. Customer service gave me store number that just takes you back to the same customer service menus. This order was for an elderly relative. I won’t use Asda again. I have disputed the payment with my card company. Not good enough from trusted brand.

We used to be loyal customers of Asda…

We used to be loyal customers of Asda for years but past three months is really going down the hill with them. The grocery deliveries are always late, they cancelled on us, brought mouldy gherkins twice and generally the products are not always fresh and very short use by date.

The last thing before we decided to leave Asda online grocery happened last week when they didn’t deliver one crate of food, which was worth at least £40. Fresh meat, vegetables, yoghurt etc. They charged us for it though and said it was delivered. I called customer service and after long wait I spoke to someone who said it’s in the van and driver will be back later on. That never happen. I raised the case, chased them twice but week later still no answer and I am worried we are not going to see £40 again. Will be escalating this but it’s very time consuming too. Therefore we are leaving Asda and please don’t use them. It’s totally not reliable and they tell you different things by email and different things when you call customer service.

Deliver out of date food

Multiple groceries in delivery were out of date / about to expire (tomorrow). Disgusting. Delivery driver was in a rush making it impossible to check the more than 200 items in the order. Shocking to be given so much food our family can't eat and to have no assistance from customer service.

What a waste of time customer services…

What a waste of time customer service is, don't bother calling them. My question was quite a simple one regarding my dogs food which always get from asda, my dog is now quite old and finally had to switch his food to soft food Winalot lamb and turkey 12 x 400g cans. The only one he will eat. However they haven't had it in stock for ages, when I ask staff if they are getting any stock in just get " don't know " so to save wasting my time to visit store thought I would check with customer services thinking maybe they can tell me if being discontinued etc.
Well it was like talking to an idiot, got "don't know, check website, check store" WHATS THE POINT!!!

Absolute garbage

Ordered at 10am for a same day 9pm-10pm delivery slot. Waited and waited, and finally had to concede defeat when I had to leave for work at 10.15pm and no phone call or update to say the delivery was delayed or cancelled. Call centre closes at 10pm on a Sunday, so no dice there. Great to know I'll get back from work in the morning with no breakfast unless I go to the supermarket to replace the items Asda have charged me for but not delivered. First and last time using this awful supermarket.

Longstanding customer let down—£249 lost and no resolution

I’ve been a loyal Asda online grocery customer for over 12 years and have always tried to be understanding when issues arise. Over the years, we’ve dealt with frequent substitutions, missed delivery slots (especially on Sundays), and occasions where I’ve had to collect my shopping myself due to driver shortages or vehicle breakdowns.

However, my recent experience has been deeply disappointing and financially damaging. In October, a technical issue linked to Microsoft Azure prevented me from finalising my grocery order. As a result, I had to refuse the delivery at the door. The driver was sympathetic and assured me I’d be refunded. Unfortunately, Asda later claimed the order was accepted and have refused to issue a refund—leaving us £249 out of pocket.

We simply cannot absorb this kind of loss. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue through customer services, the only response has been an acknowledgment of our frustration, with no meaningful support or resolution.

This has been a distressing experience, and I’m sharing it in the hope that Asda will take accountability and improve how they handle genuine customer concerns.
