Griffin Teaching prepares children for the Kent Test, Quest Test, Medway Test, ISEB Common Pre-Test and independent school entrance exams. Founded in 2011 by Cambridge graduate Hayley Hobbs, we run small-group tutor clubs for Year 4 and Year 5, with most joining at the start of Year 5. Groups are capped at six, so every child receives genuine personal attention, whatever their starting point. Our teachers are highly qualified and experienced, and all are parents themselves. They get to know each child well, nurture their confidence and help them make rapid, transformative progress, often within weeks. We are writing specialists, and our students are known for winning academic scholarships at leading independent schools. Every year, we send multiple students to grammars, super-selectives and academic independent schools. Our programme goes well beyond a weekly hour, with tightly constructed planning, additional resources and daily revision booklets for the summer break that parents love. We also run mock exams and online writing clubs. We care about parents too, offering clear feedback, honest advice and practical support throughout the 11+ journey. Clubs meet weekly in Hadlow, Kings Hill, Pembury, Goudhurst, Tudeley and Sevenoaks, with live-taught Zoom sessions for those who live further afield.

Tuition at its very best

From start to finish Hayley and her team have been so supportive of both my children. Having helped my daughter with the 11+ and ISEB test she went on to secure a scholarship in a top independent school and is thriving there. We have every reason to believe our son has this exciting opportunity ahead of him too. None of this would have been possible without Hayley's thoughtful guidance and year 5 programme that she's poured her lifetime's work into. Her passion for education is unparalleled, a true expert in her field.
