Disappointed
Prior to arriving at my home seemed professional enough.
However, on day due at 9.00, no arrival or call - called the office at 11.30 and said there had been trouble with van and were running late, finally arrived hours later.
No apology for lateness, rushed upstairs ‘to look at loft’ - actually all used bathroom, no issue, but ask first? Then two got into loft by standing on banister/climbing up wall. Other two went for tools - at the end of the day my white paint work was ruined with foot & hand marks - doesn’t wash off.
Insulation - old was to be removed - asked if any fibres etc as my daughter chronic asthmatic - told all ‘cleanly done’ was - for them to then come out wearing masks, literally throwing open black sacks over the bannisters..
I asked if anything needed moving from the window sills in rooms, or needed covering - no it’s fine - each room had ‘drilled’
plastic on window sills & where fans fitted plaster dust everywhere, window sills, surfaces, carpets, items on surfaces..
Constant ‘rushed’ approach & no attempt whatsoever to minimise mess, protect home or items or told what was going to be done/consultation with installation.
I appreciate there is always mess but this was a rushed, poorly executed effort that left my home in complete disarray.
I can’t list everything here but a few things below:
Window cracked when drilling plastic frame. When told said had been like it before - their pre photos showed different.
Used towel ladder with two cushions of bed to stand on to reach window in bedroom, didn’t even replace it where from just left it up the window with two cushions on the treads.
Stood on my dining table chairs to stand on to work on the kitchen and lounge windows and ceiling. Stood on my white desk in office to get to that window too and the white chair.
Damaged the seals of the windows at the top of each unit because drills too close.
Left plastic, drilling bits, sealant, dust and plastic particles, screws and nails n beds, window sills, carpets and sealant down bannister walls and my brand new front door. Packaging left in rooms strewn anywhere.
Surveyed so knew wood blinds at each window - said had to come down, which I agreed to of course to access windows l - demonstrated-indicated I had to do as didn’t want responsibility - so I had to take down/put back myself unaided.
Asked if I had an electric radiator - which I didn’t as they ‘needed to plug in to take pictures to show I had an electric radiator. One arrived, drilled & installed on wall, photographed, uninstalled -
Left damaged walls…
Thankfully I had moved a cream rug from front of the house after they had been there a while, but my carpets and rug at back of house now need cleaning due to constant walking with shoes/unprotected
Brought their own hoover into the house to use, decided mine was better, used until blocked it without asking
Put the fans into the bathroom and kitchen, not lined up, central or any regard for placement - look awful/cut into coving - stood in sink to carry out electrics
Used my towels and tea towels as ‘cloths’ without asking, found items ruined with sticky caulking after
Loft hatch left with black marks, tape, insulation? and two useless ‘hooks’ that look awful on ceiling
Carpets taken up to see how rafters run, now not sitting correctly, black marks all down stairways… it goes on and on
Left very quickly, 3 just disappeared, one stayed ‘waiting for photos to download to Pakistan he said? Was still outside waiting for these photos to download via my internet/wifi hours later…
Forgot to say arrived with the wrong boiler, survey information and took half a day to decide how they would actually carry out the installation. Have to say the installers of boiler much cleaner, Covered carpets etc, right equipment and tools..
The team on first day were poor, no regard for home, no regard for workmanship - just rushed, focused on leaving regardless of mess & disarray left behind. My opinion is lack of training, expectation of customer and instruction. Lack of basic English don’t help unfortunately.
In contrast the next day the engineer arrived who was a subcontractor, and couldn’t have been more professional.
I have brought this all to attention in f company in a complaint which is ongoing. I want and expect my home to look as it did prior to the arrival they Monday morning which means a deep clean, carpets cleaned, furniture cleaned and glass in window -and seals replaced. Paintwork professional cleaned /repainted.
I am so so disappointed and frankly hurt at how my home was treated that day with total discord and hope the company will do as they say this will and correct everything that has been damaged and ruined in the process
