Warning: Coordinated Threat and Abuse by Property Owner’s Family
I stayed as a guest at the bungalow accommodation operated by the same family that runs this cooking class. What I experienced during my stay is directly related to the people who manage both the lodging and the kitchen. That’s why I feel it’s important to share this here—even though the incident happened at the bungalow, it involves the same individuals who run this place.
I decided to leave this accommodation early because of a serious incident involving the on-site female staff member—a middle-aged local woman—who checked me in.
From the moment I arrived, she made repeated inappropriate sexual comments about my body. I clearly told her that I did not welcome such remarks, but she continued. Later, when I was unable to get a Grab driver, she offered to take me into town by motorbike. During the ride on a steep mountain road, she reached her arm back and repeatedly stroked my thigh without my consent. It was not accidental, and it was not a light touch. It was an extended and invasive act, and I felt deeply violated. That night, I decided to leave the accommodation, and I checked out the next morning via Airbnb’s system.
After I had already left, another serious incident occurred. While I was in a taxi heading away from the property, I was suddenly blocked on the road by several men, led by the owner’s brother. They surrounded the vehicle and told me to return to the property. They threatened to throw my luggage out into the street and said they would take me to the police if I didn’t comply. I had already paid for one night through Airbnb, following the cancellation policy set by the host. However, the owner and his wife—who were not present at the property—completely misunderstood the situation. They incorrectly believed I had left without paying anything and started shouting at me over the phone.
Despite my repeated explanations and a second confirmation email sent from Airbnb to clarify the payment, I was held on the roadside for nearly an hour. The host and his wife finally realized their mistake and instructed the owner’s brother to let me go. But even then, there was no apology or acknowledgment of what they had done. When I took a photo of the man who had blocked me—as documentation of what was happening—I was threatened again. He said that if I didn’t delete the photo, they would take me to the police.
I am including this photo because this man directly confronted me and issued threats during my departure. He is not merely a staff member, but a member of the owner’s family who interacts directly with guests at this property.
This is not an act of revenge, but a safety notice. His actions were not personal—they were part of a violent misuse of professional authority.
I share this to protect future guests from similar threats and acts of violence.
