AVOID AT ALL COSTS BE WARNED

We were very disappointed with our stay at Green Hills Leisure Park touring site which was £40 per night. The facilities were nowhere near adequate and as the web site stated for the number of tourers on site. There are only three male showers and four female showers for the entire touring area, the web site states 3 shower blocks,2 disabled toilets,2 laundry rooms,2 black waste disposal which is in correct one block as been done away with which the workman are using. The web site states public transport within walking distance be warned its in the village which is a long drag up a steep hill out of the site and not for the light hearted or elderly plus there's no footpath or lighting while walking to the village.
The showers and washrooms were not cleaned properly on a daily basis and were dirty throughout our stay. There was also a lack of lighting around the site, making it difficult to get around safely after dark also lack of rubbish bins around the site which meant a decent walk to the bins at the top
The grass had not been mown, the hedges were overgrown, and the whole site looked neglected. There was only one black waste disposal point for all the tourers, which was disgusting and completely inadequate for the number of people using the site.
To make matters worse, the site felt like a dusty, noisy building site, with construction work going on from morning until night.
Overall, this was not the relaxing break we had expected and certainly not good value for money. We will not be returning and would not recommend this site BE WARNED !

Cancelled at short notice

I am extremely disappointed with Green Hill Leisure Park. We were due to stay in the Farmhouse in a few weeks time for an extended family get together (belated 75th birthday get together for my Dad to spend some time with his new granddaughter and rest of family) that I booked months ago. However, on Fathers Day I was contacted to say my booking was being cancelled as the whole location no longer allows children.

It is shocking that this decision is made just before the busy summer season and that existing bookings were not honoured. The booking was confirmed months ago, fully paid for and we had arranged travel and activities around the trip.

The way this change has been handled is disgraceful.

With a few weeks notice it is virtually impossible to find an alternative location nearby for 12 people.

Cancelled at short notice after changing to an over-55s site

I am extremely disappointed with Green Hill Farm. We were due to stay in two weeks’ time so that we could spend time with my grandparents and parents before they leave for France for six weeks. However, we received an email informing us that our booking had been cancelled because the site has changed to an over-55s site. My partner and I are both under 55, and we also have a one-year-old child.

I understand that a business may decide to change its policy, but I do not understand why existing bookings were not honoured, particularly when our stay was less than a month away. The booking had already been accepted, and we had arranged meals and activities around the trip. We may now lose deposits because of this last-minute cancellation.

Being excluded solely because of our ages and because we have a young child feels deeply unfair. The way this change has been handled has caused considerable disruption and disappointment for our whole family.

Caravan touring already seems to be becoming less accessible to younger families, and it is disappointing to see Green Hill Farm contributing to that. Based on how our booking was handled, I cannot recommend this site.

I have given 3 stars because

I have given 3 stars because the site is vast and clean, beautiful lakes, helpful staff/owners. However....
Pitches are extremely uneven and need re levelling
The lake is so far away..it would have been very helpful for people with disabilities to know this when booking so as to take a trolly for their tackle instead of having to make many trips!
Also it would be helpful on booking if a section was listed for disabilities, to enable a closer pitch to the facilities could bearranged instead of having to drive to the facilties!.
we noted a extremely large field for tents which was empty during the week but did fill at the weekend - but was only half full, unyet we endured a row of 4 - 5 tents that were placed directly opposite the hard standings we were on, The tents were occupied by all related people so very noisy as they all had dogs and children together. With rows of chairs and tables set up between the tents it blocked access to the only fresh water tap meaning you either had to walk through these tents which would appear rude, or make a hike to use one in another area!
It amazes me how people in tents believe that once inside their tents no one can hear them..it's fabric not brick and we hear everything including when all thec4 yents occupants gathered in one tent, talking laughing and shouting until 2am. As we did not pay to be awoken or kept awake we decided to call it a day and lost the cost of a night (38 quid) and go home to sleep!
This site lists 10pm curfew on noise which is very odd ...when other reviews on their website lists disgruntled vacationers who have had the same experience, have informed staff but to no avail.
Sadly we wouldn't return to this venue.
Organisation seems amiss and would go a long way in keeping the 5 stars.
For example
the tents could have easily been sited with the other tents especially as it was a large booking it would have avoided the problems of noise we encountererd
When booking it would help if a section were included for the purpose of:
listening to the needs of oap's or disabilities on booking so as to be placed more appropriately for facilities,,
Listing how far away the lakes are to help potential visitors bring the necessary equipment.
Better organisation, following through with the curfew of 10pm.
This venue would be perfect.
