Recently had Green install a battery to…

Recently had Green install a battery to our house. Sales told us to upgrade to the larger battery as it was meant to run our whole house, it doesn't. The system sold also doesn't auto change over you have to flick a manual breaker to go to back up mode.
There installer wired our switchboard wrong so we had no solar on our house for 5 weeks. They told me they would reimburse us for our high power bill which they still haven't. The battery didn't get commissioned correctly and didn't work proper for 6-7 weeks post install. This meant I couldn't get the government grant as it closed before we could apply. Green aren't replying to emails and aren't taking any responsibility for the there false promises in sales and poor install w

How and Why we chose Green

We got onto Green via Finn Peacock's SolarQuotes brilliant and informative website, and they suggeste 3 possible companies. Green was the lowest quote by a good margin. After quite a few emails and very well responded interactions with Olivia Mayfield at Green starting around 24/11/2025, we went for the AlphaESS 2x13.3 kWh SMILE5 batteries and a 5kW SMILE5 Inverter; contracted 15/12/25. Expecting a bit of a delay due surging demand, we were delighted when the system components were delivered on 16/01/25, installed by the excellent team lead by Matt & Stephan from mpw electrical & airconditioning on 21/01/25. Inspection and "turn-on" took place on 02/02/25. The system is working excellently especially "when the sun don't shine" with just a dribble of power (40 watts or so) coming in from the grid to keep the solar PV Fronius inverter in sync with the grid. Just going through one slight hiccup 4 days after turn-on with the batteries charging up to no more than 71.2% (plenty for our night times). Keeping contact with both Green and the tech support at AlphaESS (all responding quickly) to see about a system command change for getting close as possible for achieving best battery life.
Overall, excellent and timely interactions with SolarQuotes, Olivier and the team at Green, the Installers and AlphaESS Australian tech support.
No hesitation in recommending everyone involved.

Installer - A Company - C

Installer turned up on time as arranged. Previously I had inquired as to how long the installation would take and was informed it would only take a ' couple of hours' - it took a very long day to be finished.
There was no instruction as to what needed to be done but was told by the installer that it wasnt working but he would be in contact the next day. He texted the next day to advise that the installation was complete and the batteries were operating properly. It was disappointing that noone from the company presented to explain how it worked and how to use the app. It is a big expenditure and I feel that that intro should be an important part of it. It shouldnt be up to the installer to also do the training.
Since then the battery appears to be working as expected. Still waiting for the aftersales service to kick in. The installer did a very neat installation and removed all excess. I have no issues with him but I feel that the company has done a minimalist job.

Green.com.au made the complicated process very streamlined and easy

Green.com.au were helpful in determining the best battery product for my situation. The price was very competitive. Installation and commissioning were completed surprisingly quickly, within about a month from signing the contract. The installer, Rick, was very helpful and did a neat and professional job, and the inspector was amenable to our availability, so it was operating just a few days later. The battery has been operating well with Amber Smart shift for about a fortnight.

The sales team were rather dishonest

The sales team were rather dishonest. They promised a battery that would run the entire house in a blackout "no dedicated circuits required" but this was not what was provided. A 5kW inverter was installed which has a far too small throughout for such claims. They also promised auto switching during blackout but a manual switch was installed - rather useless when one is away and hoping the fridge is kept cold when a blackout occurs. The company is also silent after sales, very little support to fix their mistakes.

Green.com.au solar battery service is beyond great!

I recently bought a solar battery from Green.com.au. Each step, from accessing the government rebate, through the installation of the equipment, and follow-up technical and post sale support, I have been impressed with their approach to helping me to understand what I was getting into with the solar battery. Stephen installed it carefully and I could see that his his team knew exactly what they were doing. Afterwards they organised all the documentation for me to apply for the solar rebate and connect with the grid program. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to upgrade their power options and save money on electricity bills. Thank you very much.

During 2 weeks since installation, we had 2 issues. One right after install. Technician came back following day and fixed it. 2nd issue was that we lost partial power for a few minutes but self-rectified after. Managed to get phone support from Green support.

False Claims

During the sales process for an Alpha battery I was told by the sales person that the Alpha battery was capable of running the whole house in the event of a black out.
This was untrue as I found out when the electrician came to do the install. It was also at that point I was informed that the Alpha battery wont do an automatic changeover in the event of a power failure but will require a switch in the meter box to be switched and then switched back again when the power comes back on. This is completely useless if you are away from the house when power goes out. Likely to come home to a fridge full of spoiled food but a fully charged battery! Battery was installed in Oct last year but wasnt up and running until late Jan this year due to a number of issues with the install and battery itself.
I have contacted consumer affairs as their sales people made promises that the system just cant do. Had I known this from the start I would never have gone with the system they proposed.

A VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER

The communication from the company was excellent. They kept me informed about the instillation of my solar battery, keeping me up to date with when to expect the job to be done and sure enough, it all happened as promised!
Also, all phone interactions were always pleasant and friendly, even when I pestered them with my persistent enquiries!

Alpha Battery Install

Ryan at Green was easy to deal with and the price seemed very competitive compared to others. I installed a 40 kW alpha battery system but what would have been nice to know is that the inputs and outputs are limited due to the smaller 5 kW inverter, I didn’t realise this until after the install. This means I still need to draw power from the grid when the load exceeds 5 kW. The installation process was also very streamlined and I was very pleased with the job undertaken.

Good Battery Install

A very good experience from a company that know what they are doing. Got an Alpha ESS battery installed and the process was very smooth. Communication was excellent and the installers were very professional and did a great job with hiding the wiring.
The only area where they could be better is to have more solutions readily on offer.
