Misleading fees and manipulative upsells — avoid
I used GOV+ to renew my TSA Precheck. What they do NOT make clear upfront is that their fee does not include the actual government renewal fee. You pay GOV+ on top of what you still owe the government. That should be disclosed prominently before you hand over your credit card — it isn't.
On top of that, the checkout process forces you to decline a premium upgrade multiple times. That's a dark pattern designed to confuse or exhaust you into paying more.
I should have taken those repeated upsell screens as a warning sign. I didn't. Learn from my mistake.
There are free and direct ways to renew TSA Precheck through the official government site. Use those instead.
