Great service

Great service. The puzzle arrived really quickly and was an excellent quality. Love the wooden puzzles from this company and hope there will be larger piece counts in their offering in the future.

Beautiful, Unique Puzzles

I finished up Milkshake and am so excited to tell you all about this new company. The passion behind the creation of Gorgeous Games was evident from my first interaction with Matt. The way he talks about puzzles, in general, is exactly how I feel. He told me, he loves jigsaws for relaxation and to destress. Same, Matt, same!

First I want to talk about the art - for most of his puzzles, the art is from actual artists rather than stock. If you’ve been around here for a while, you know that I have a very strong preference for art versus stock. I spend quite a bit of time looking at stock images for work and I really do not want to think about work when I am unwinding (I have a terrible habit of overthinking!). The puzzle I did, Milkshake, is by machOne. His style is heavily influenced by comic books and graffiti - clearly evident in this image. He also believes that art should cause a reaction, thought, or conversation. This piece definitely caused conversations - both with my husband and with some other puzzlers - with the subtle erotic nature of the art. Mission accomplished, machOne! And if this particular image is not your style, there are 2 other designs currently available and 3 in development.

One thing that is important to Gorgeous Games is the process of building the puzzle, particularly when it comes to the quality of materials used. These puzzles are made on Eska blue board with matte paper and rounded edges. I really like the style of the pieces. The rounded edges give the pieces a very smooth feel, adding to a pleasant tactile experience. As a few others have mentioned, the fit is loose so picking up and moving sections can be a challenge. There are a few methods that can alleviate these difficulties. For small sections, you can create some tension with the fit by pulling the pieces away from each other as you pick them up. I puzzle on a smooth surface so I just slide sections around. I also have a Ceaco Puzzle Scoop, which is a fantastic puzzle accessory to assist with moving sections around. There were also some tricky pieces that fit in multiple places. But as you place more pieces, the errors are clearly evident. For the most part, I was able to get into a nice rhythm and place piece after piece with no misplacements. Before even sending me a puzzle, Matt did mention that he was not personally satisfied with the fit and was looking into different manufacturers.

This is a grid cut puzzle with nice variations to the piece shapes. I included a photo to highlight the variety of piece shapes. The colors are vibrant, saturated, and crisp. There is no pixelation. The cut was perfect - all pieces were cleanly cut all the way through. And the pieces themselves are sturdy with no fraying or bending.

The box is a very different size than the norm. It is a long, narrow rectangular box. It was thoughtfully designed that way to help ensure puzzle deliveries fit through a letterbox and have the entire image displayed on the cover.

I thoroughly enjoyed this puzzle and am looking forward to the upcoming releases. There is one in particular called Hero’s Treasure that I thought was a photograph but it is actually a hyper-realistic painting by Joseph Michetti. I also highly encourage you to follow @realgorgeousgames He has some really great ideas for upcoming releases AND wants the community to be involved in choosing designs. He has already asked for image feedback once and it is so cool to get to help pick what will be made next.
