In 2023 I was up late reading a WLW novel by Helena Harte and as I turned the page to the end of the book I happened along the blurb about Global Wordsmith and their quest to help independent authors share their voice. That quick paragraph was enough for me to consider my dream that started with a book I wrote in 2009. A book I’d tinkered with until it was just this side of terrible. I mean what did I have to lose? I sent it to Global Wordsmiths and to my surprise, they were welcoming, not appalled and set out to help me bring it into the world.
 
Nicci and Victoria are the heart of Global Wordsmiths, and they have a heart of gold. Their support from the first assessment of my writing through the Hatchery 1 course was unprecedented in their unrelenting support and encouragement. They taught me the basics of writing in the Hatchery 1 course and welcomed me into their supportive group of writers from which I learned and found my way forward. What became clear was that these two women were the real deal. They knew their stuff and could not only write wonderful novels, but they held the magic formula to help others write and develop their own stories.
 
In Fall 2024, I had the opportunity to attend one of their Women's Retreats in Spain. At this retreat I was fortunate to spend time with writers of different ages, backgrounds, nationalities, and levels of writing experience. It was a homecoming I hadn’t realized I needed. The connection with writers and the insight and coaching from Nicci and Victoria on my own work was invaluable. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and are considerate of your personal needs to get the best out of the retreat and your time writing. Their expertise in writing, editing, publishing, and promoting indie authors, especially those from marginalized backgrounds, is inspiring. Even though I was in Los Angeles, and they were in the UK they’ve always been there for me in my process. While it wasn’t easy, thanks to Global Wordsmiths, my debut novel will be released in May 2025! Nicci and Victoria’s ongoing guidance, professionalism, and knowledge made my path to publishing a positive journey. It’s one I hope to build on with my next book.
 

Brey and Robyn perfectly structured the course between lessons, Q&A, and quick writes, where we put what we learned to the test. As an introvert, I was a little nervous about sharing my writing, but everyone was encouraging. Robyn and Brey’s positive support and constructive tips made me comfortable. They went above and beyond all week, and I left with some new skills and others reinforced. Everyone was awesome. It’s days later, and I miss seeing and chatting with the new friends I made during the course.

I have been on a number of writing retreats with Global Wordsmiths. They provide a warm, inclusive experience with high quality tutoring.
With their help and encouragement I’ve published two books and am well on the way to my third. I would highly recommend their services.

Since 2018 I have attended multiple writing courses and retreats with Nicci and Victoria at Global Wordsmiths.
They are passionate and knowledgeable about everything they do. They supported my writing journey from the beginning all the way through the editing and hopefully soon publishing process.
English is my second language and where I thought it might be an issue they saw it as an opportunity to find the best way to help me improve my writing craft, storytelling and were always honest with me. When I started this journey writing something that was worth being published one day seemed like a distant dream. Thanks to their knowledge and patience I’m closer to that dream than I have ever been, and I couldn’t have done it without them. In addition to their writing courses and editing expertise they provide access to a virtual writing room for like-minded writers to support each other and foster a community.

I’ve just returned from a Global Wordsmiths retreat in north Wales. It was a wonderful, inspiring week. The tutor-led, daily sessions were insightful and challenging. Nicci and Victoria share their passion, knowledge and experience at every stage.

Time spent together as a group was well-structured, thought-provoking and enlightening. It was wrapped up in a beautiful setting, with a variety of tasty meals, and enough down time that the whole thing was simply restorative.

Not only that, but I met some amazing people. This is a community of new and experienced writers who care about raising each other up.

If you’re thinking of investing in your own writing, you will find more than you hoped for on this retreat.

Having attended several courses and writing retreats, I highly recommend Global Wordsmiths. They have excellent knowledge and are passionate about getting the best out of your writing talent, no matter what your history or starting point is. They are wonderful hosts who care deeply and always provide a professional and ethical service.

I published my first novel this year, and could never have done so without the courses, editing expertise and support that Nicci and Victoria have provided me with. They have encouraged me every part of the way, and provided me with a collaborative, creative space in which my writing has flourished. I can’t recommend their writing retreats, and their editing skills enough. A truly superb service.

I attended an online workshop to prepare for NaNoWriMo with Global Wordsmiths.

I had never been on a course or used this company before, and this is an unbiased review.

The workshop session was well thought out, structured in a efficient way and provided lots of key advice.

The content went above and beyond my expectations. I found it easy to digest, and relatable. Also, presented in an unstressful and enjoyable way.

We were shown how to plan and prepare for NaNoWriMo. Plus, given plenty of tools to help with the experience and I came away feeling motivated.

Vic/Brey who ran the session was friendly, professional and really helpful. Not only that, but she was kind and patient too.

We were given the opportunity to ask questions and chat to other participants.

I found the course an invaluable resource and would highly recommend it and Global Wordsmiths, who I shall definitely be using the services of in the future.

I attended a two hour session, presented by Victoria, to prepare for my first NaNoWriMo. I learned more in this short time about writing fiction, than I did in a full week course from another organization. I have heard them speak in panels and always left with more useful knowledge than expected from a short presentation. If I lived in the UK I would definitely take advantage of all the support and education Globalwords offer authors.

Nicola and Victoria at Global Wordsmiths provide a first class service in whatever they do. They are professional and provide quality support to their clients. In addition, they are honest and reliable in their dealings with them.
I have been a client for four years and during this time they have fully supported me from being a wannabe writer to an author of two novels and a number of short stories.
