I received a letter from global debt…

I received a letter from global debt recovery about a debt that my ex wife and myself owed from 30 years ago when we were both very young and naive and let's face it very irresponsible. So having grown up and maturing a little I was glad that they contacted me and I was in a position to pay the debt in full. Alex who I dealt with on the phone was extremely helpful and understanding and was not pushy and I never felt bullied or pressured in anyway. I am grateful to them for reminding me of this debt . My conscience is clear . My advice to anyone who receives a letter is to just ring them and do the right thing .

Illegally tried to collect a debt…

Illegally tried to collect a debt included in an insolvency. Got a very weird letter from company called Connex asking if I could help locate an individual. They got a tracing company to find me at my new address and then wrote to me to collect the debt. The tracing company doesn’t show up on gov website when you search for the company. I ignored the letter. It had a reference number on it. Months later I got a letter from global debt recovery with the same reference number and when I rang they are requesting I pay a debt included in an insolvency. Citizens advice have basically said they’re trying their luck and that the insolvency is legally bound and they have no right to contact me. And have confirmed the amount, company and reference number matches what was in the insolvency paperwork. We think the tracing company letter may have been global debt recovery using a fake letter head. Citizens advice told me to make an informal complaint to global debt recoveries official complaints department. But as if they would be bothered. All they care about is getting people to pay money so they can gain money for themselves. Very weird how they couldn’t tell me how they found my address. They also lied and told me the original creditor approached them to collect the debt. Which is lies because the debt was sold on to global debt recovery before my insolvency and the original creditor isn’t trading as they went into liquidation and haven’t traded for years . So don’t believe a word these say to you.

They claim to be working on behalf of a…

They claim to be working on behalf of a client which is fake they buy the debt at 10p per pound and try and scam you out of the full amount, the address on the letter is a room above a shop and there latest scam is to throw in the pandemic and they are there to help, no they are there to get their money back not the original debt. Example RBS debt £2000 they can do you a deal for £400. So they purchased the debt for £200 and now they want you to pay double what a scam. The original debt would have been sold in the same way and the banks insurance covers the rest. Its about time these scammers are exposed and shut down. When you don't pay they sell it on so they get their £200 back and another firm tries the same scam until the debt becomes worthless and its written off.
If someone owed you £2000 and they offered you £400 you wouldn't take it so why let these scammers get away with it.
