We are new to the area and had been recommended to Glasswells by friends. It soon became clear for the reasons behind their recommendation.
We were in the Bedroom section where we were served by Peter. He proved to be a very courteous and knowledgeable member of the Glasswells Team. He relayed information on a range of products ensuring our understanding and he responded to our questions in a very clear and relaxed manner. He was by no means "heavy sell" but rather the reverse. Having given us all the information we needed, he gave us time to think and consider before proceeding to complete the transactions with detailed explanations as to next steps etc.
In summary, we considered Peter to be an excellent member and representative of the organisation and we have had no hesitation in returning to him subsequently for further guidance, support and purchases.

Walking into Glasswells is always a pleasurable experience as the quality of furniture with the knowledgeable staff helps to make it a welcoming destination.
We came in to look at the offers on wardrobes and were meeted & greeted by the friendly Lynne +Carl who answered all questions asked.

Glasswells is a traditional business offering high quality products and excellent customer service. Shopping at Glasswells is an enjoyable and pleasant experience. I have no hesitation in recommending Glasswells.

Glasswells customer service goes above and beyond in my experience. Staff go that extra mile in making shopping in the store worthwhile that they return again and again and any queries with a product purchase or delivery proactive in their response to resolve the issue/query.

Staff were courteous and extremely helpful when I enquired about a particular item of bedding. As they didn't have it in the Ipswich store they went to great efforts to locate the item in another one of their stores. Once it was delivered to Ipswich a member of staff called me to let me know, and when I called to collect the item in question there was a helpful and courteous member of staff to hand it over to me. Excellent service. Thank you.

Ben Saunders was so patient. There was no pressure to complete the purchase even though we took several weeks to confirm our decision to buy.
He was able to give us all the details of all the products we were considering so we could decide.
Ben went through all the expenses we would incur so there were no nasty surprises when we came to pay.

Peter, in the beds dept was very patient and friendly. He was also very knowledgable. Have visited many stores looking for a bed and mattress and not had the level of care and attention as he gave to us. Will definitely return to store.

Great service from Peter in the Bury store in the bedroom department. Helpful and informative he was also very considerate to my 4yr old who was dragged into mattress shopping with me.

Emily, in the curtains dept at Bury St. Ed’s store, gave us really thoughtful advice & assistance. Her communication with us was excellent & her manner - efficient, warm & friendly. All together - a very happy experience!
We have always received knowledgable & highly personable service from all the Glaswells staff in Bury! We love the store!

Lovely service in store, but the online ordering and their old fashioned way of ordering and not being able to pay over the phone, or couldn't pay online for items seen instore (as the chairs were not listed online to buy, yet in store to sit on and buy) and collection felt out of sync with 21st Centry Tech.
Imagine how much they could generate with a bit of UX Tech..

Extremely disappointed with Glasswells’ customer service and refusal to honour their legal obligations
I purchased a wardrobe from Glasswells which has developed a serious fault: the door covering has completely detached from the MDF due to adhesive failure. This is not wear and tear — it is a clear manufacturing defect.
At Glasswells’ instruction, I paid £70 + VAT for an independent inspection by Homeserve Furniture Repairs. Their technician confirmed in writing that the issue is a manufacturing fault, caused by adhesive failure, with no environmental cause, and that the wardrobe is not repairable. Replacement doors are required.
Despite this independent expert evidence — which Glasswells themselves required me to obtain — they have refused to offer any suitable remedy. No repair, no replacement, just a laughable partial refund of £7.51. Their position “remains unchanged,” even though the report clearly supports my claim.
A wardrobe should not fall apart after five years, and a retailer should not ignore the Consumer Rights Act 2015 when presented with proof of a manufacturing defect.
I am now escalating the matter to The Furniture & Home Improvement Ombudsman. It’s extremely disappointing that a company celebrating “80 years of quality” is unwilling to take responsibility when things go wrong.

The Ipswich store: My wife visited on the morning of Saturday 31st January to select a swivel armchair. She was unsure, undecided but Ben Woolins was very patient with her and gave her such advice as she needed but she left without making a purchase. We returned that same afternoon and my wife made a final decision, again with the help of Ben. We then went to pay and was helped here by Sue Welch on Reception. On our way back to Ben's area, we asked about a 2-seater sofa. Ben guided us to one which fitted our requirements almost exactly so we decided to buy it. We returned with Ben to Sue who, together with Ben, made all the necessary changes to the billing. Nothing appeared to be any trouble to either Ben or Sue who were both very patient with our vacillating and always ready to help in a pleasingly polite way. We can have no complaints about the service we received from these two staff members and they demonstrated the best way to have customers return.

There was absolutely no pressure with regards to our furniture order and anything we asked was met with a personal and professional answer.
We had a couple of coffees from the cafe and they were perfect too !
Many thanks to all involved.

This is an update for Vispring Devonshire mattress that was exchanged from medium to soft mattress in May/June 2025. I have had lower back problems since using the soft mattress. I was advised to change it to soft version by Vispring Manager. I would be happy to change to a cheaper different make or at least get half my purchase price back, and replace it somewhere else. Despite regularly seeing back pain specialist, it is not getting better.

I visited the store and immediately found Adrian, we discussed the item I have on order from the store which he arranged a short time ago and I mentioned I wished to purchase an additional item, in no time at all Adrian recalled the item and the colour/fabric chosen by ourselves and I was simply able to order the additional item.
Would yet again like to thank him for his time and effort for sorting things for me.
Adrian is very knowledgeable on the products in store and always very approachable.

We were looking for a chair for a bedroom, Glasswells has an excellent range of different chairs so we were able to find just the sort we were looking for. The shop is spacious and well laid out so a delight to walk around. Lawrence, the sales assistant, was very helpful.
