A recovery was made but not a pleasant experience
a recovery was made. Conflicting calls chasing paperwork they already had. Then tried, twice, to sell me cover for funeral care after recovery was finished. I had already told them at the outset that my number was not to be used for this purpose.I told caller that I had this covered and she asked what cover I had. Told her it was private and I had not sought their advice
I had many chasing calls when it was difficult to understand what had been said.
While cheque was awaited they called to say that I should have received it. I had not.
The job was done and paid for) but there must be other companies that are more pleasant to deal with.I would rather give someone else a chance next time.
It's not about the money.
It's not so much that they didn't manage to reclaim any money, it was just they are such a shambles to deal with, conflicting advice, duplicated claim, unable to understand simple instructions.
Rubbish company keep phoning my…
Rubbish company keep phoning my vuanrable grandma and won't leave her alone, AVOID!!
Bunch of bozos, don't bother!
Don't bother. They waste your time. Filled in paperwork a year ago, submitted electronic signature. Then get an email saying deadline has closed so not pursuing. Then receive paperwork (6 different letters for each claim posted in different envelopes) arrived together saying wasn't owed anything. Following week, foreign sounding woman calls up saying she's from Gladstone Brookes, asking for all the information all over again, saying she was checking if anything had changed! Asked her why they have asked for info multiple times! Wouldn't bother with this company, bunch of bozos and the claims just go on forever, without any outcome. If I could give a rating of 0, believe me I would of.
Live and Learn
Contacted GB, to claim PPI. Not impressed with communication skills of the company. Continuous repetitive calls, by different advisors, repeating same thing. Slap dash service for a quick buck. Now after PPI claim has ended, using my information to contact me about other services. Breaching Data protection, I did not request other services information, so why, am I receiving harassing calls!!!!!
Efficient, competent service when chasing their 25% fee though.
What a waste of time Gladstone Brookes…
What a waste of time Gladstone Brookes are.
First they tell me my claim is too small for them to bother with, and my case was closed.
Months later I get a text message asking for an electronic signature as my case is ongoing. I did this, I was then told my case had been previously. This was days before the deadline. Due to my partner being terminally ill I did not get time to get the paperwork from my bank, Therefore I lost out on my PPI claim.
Yesterday I received a text message telling me my claim was ongoing, but as the bank had a backlog of claims, and it would take up to six months to settle.
Having lost my partner of 40 years during this fiasco, I have no words to describe Gladstone Brookes without being offensive.
Slow!
As other have said, so slow at responding to anything. Expect to wait months before you hear back from them.
Without a doubt the slowest company…
Without a doubt the slowest company ever, had a claim in August all verified and still waiting, must have Sloths working there, would never use again ever.
Constant bullying & harassment
Contacted this company as the PPI deadline was approaching & I didn't have the time to submit claims myself. Foolish decision & a big mistake. They are woefully inefficient & aggressive. They ask the same questions over & over again, & you receive the same papers to complete repeatedly. You spend hours on the phone with disinterested employees. They then do 2 minutes of work, for which you lose 20-25% of your refund. And heaven help you if you're late paying one of their invoices - you get bombarded with a constant stream of phone calls, voicemail messages, emails & letters. They then threaten legal action, without even knowing the facts. Another zero ethics company driven by greed & easy money from gullible people. Avoid.
ABYSMAL SERVICE.
Abysmal service. NEVER replied to any of my communications -I tried phoning , emailing and letters . A complete waste of time trying to claim anything with them. I wish I’d chosen a different company- one who actually does what they say they will.
Would never recommend them in a million years. Useless.
BIG MISTAKE MADE IN AUGUST LAST YEAR
Well I certainly made a big mistake back in August last year selecting this company to pursue a possible claim that I may have had against a building society from the time I had a mortgage with them.
I completed the appropriate documentation as requested. After a few days I received an email where I clicked on to a link to provide an electronic signature. A couple of days later (26th Aug) I received the same email again asking me to sign again and notifying me that deadline day was drawing near. Again I clicked the link and signed as requested.
This week watching the Martin Lewis show PPI claims were mentioned. As I had heard nothing I decided to email Gladstone Brookes to see if my claim was progressing at all. I have been left a little miffed after receiving a reply stating that they had not received my signature until 6th September therefore missing the deadline.
Very suspicious as my Wife signed at the same as me for a possible claim she might have for a store card she once held. She has recently received communication asking her to provide further information to pursue her claim. So her electronic signature was received in time.
Reading through other reviews I am even more suspicious now and leaves a few questions. Why was I not notified that my signature arrived beyond the deadline? Were they having problems with their client portal? If so why was email not sent requesting ‘hard copy’ signature? Were they ‘cherry picking’ from claims that provided best return for them or easiest to pursue? Was because my claim against a building society that has now been taken over a problem?
Lesson learnt I suppose leaving it until last month prior to deadline to claim and giving me no time to select another company.
Poor service.
Used these, got nothing in return. Used Ingeniouslegal.co.uk and received a cheque for £113 for an MBNA. And, they are chasing more on my behalf.
Awful service
Terrible company to deal with, despite their fancy schmancy telly adverts!
Deadlines came and went...absolutely nothing, even though I especially asked them to focus on one company in particular as I read that many people got refunds from them.
Though I replied to e mails, you would never have thought so, as I continually got the same one from them!!
Rubbish!
Sadly Not a Satisfactory Experience
Sadly I have to say that though, thus far I have had 2 successful claims, hence 2 stars, their communication has been utterly abysmal.
Also there seems to be a lack of understanding what a receipt is, which was requested from Nov and eventually had a paper based response which was called a receipt, but which in fact contained no evidence of commission paid which is what my accountant required.
To add to all my poor experience of this company, I have reported from the start that my 'Online Customer Portal' doesn't work. Yet I have had repeated emails sent from the company stating that my 'documents are on the portal'. However not one was there. Which was again reported, and to which the response was, 'It will be sorted in 48hrs' Was it heck!
All in all, the only thing I am grateful for is despite all, I did at least get some money returned to me.
Do not believe their hyp. The tag line was 'one easy application, they will do the rest' and this was certainly not the case. Repeated letters containing replica forms that had already been sent in, the wrong information sent out despite very clear requests, promises of action/and or phone calls within 24hrs which have not come, letters promised which have also not arrived, multiple letters saying they were sorry that I had to complain, but doing nothing about it!
Staff were unable to answer basic questions and unable to get to someone who could answer the question.
Not a good review I am afraid, but completely honest.

Thank you gladstonebrooks for reading and replying to all the comments SO RUDE all other companies reply to their reviews good and bad, lets see if they reply to this
THE WORST company I've ever dealt with
Without a doubt THE WORST company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. With all the fancy adverts constantly in your face I expected better. Apparently Bank of Scotland can't find my mortgage!! Well they wouldn't would they! I've never had a mortgage. Wish I'd never bothered!!
Multiple claims but every case closed…
Multiple claims but every case closed with not a penny refunded and of course the deadline now passed. Suspect that only those claims earning them a reasonable fee were ever pursued with any gusto.
Absolutely useless
Absolutely useless. Submitted all the info and got a message to say they’d received it and they would be in touch the next thing I heard was they were closing the cases because they hadn’t heard back from me but I’d had no other messages/emails and nothing on my account on their website asking me to contact them
Completely and utterly useless
What a useless crowd Gladstone Brooks are. They posted me three letters stating that they had enclosed form for me to complete - but enclosed no form. Three letters and a phone call later they sent me another letter with no form. Sheer incompetence.

Oh no they said, you didn't ask us to contact said company.
I replied how strange that I have an email from you dated 15 August confirming company details and our consent to contact the company .
Sorry they said, too late to do anything about it now as deadline has gone.
Absolutely furious!
